You have to record in 1080 and then post that video to youtube. Make sure if you edit it, you select HD settings. For example, in iMovie HD (on Mac), you'd have to select "Expert" settings and select the HD settings. I'm not sure how it works on Windows, as I don't edit my videos on Windows. -Good Luck!
oh i use this one called Cyberlink Power Director which is a great video editor because it can actually read mpeg4 video which the sony webbie HD MHS-PM1 creates.
how do you get the 1080 mode on youtube? because i have the exact same kind of camera.

thanks, I'm pretty satisfied with this camera. I don't like the overly sensitive microphone or the time it takes for the light iris to adjust.

ahhh....yes, the microphone. it is very sensitive especially when you flip over the webcam that can rotate.
