Lots of people are saying that keeping constant tension makes it harder is surprising to me..I find the full lockouts a lot harder lol guess i gotta get these triceps working more
Locking out isn't necessary, its bad on your joints. I bench three quarter movements and i get good results and my elbows don't hurt me either.I thought he looked good IMO.
anyone who said this isnt hard or just in general dont think this works..... do half of the reps he did.... POST IT!!!!!! then we will see if your put up or shut up... fucking ignorant dumbass people, litterally this is the new age type of lift THIS IS SCIENCE......... half reps keep full tension on the chest for the duration of the lift... activing more muscle fibers YAY but again,,,,, POST YOUR VIDS PUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAYYYYYSSSSSSS
These comments are ignorant. People don't realize the purpose of NOT locking out is to keep the primary emphasis on the chest. Strong lifts man, very impressive despite the naysayers.
That was a good lift man very good but you could have gotten at least 2 or 3 more in there if you would have went for it. Because you racked it by yourself, if your are were truly dead you spotter would have had to help you rack it. But regardless good lift.
no way those aren't half reps, i lift the same way. try widening your grip like how uz guys do it then u will see how hard it is to extend, its almost impossible too. plus u r stronger when u have a wider grip rather then a skinny grip
i've locked out my elbows on bench, bar and dumbbell for 10 years, never had a problem. its the people that snap their elbows when they lock out, rather then going slow and slowly locking out
He doesn't need to lock out... but he needs to do more than a half rep.... this is stupid...everyone knows the hardest part is getting past the halfway point... A proper rep is almost lockout... this is just a waste of time.
the hardest part is when u dont bounce the weight off ur chest and u actually bring it up yourself. this guy just took a bunch of roids and shaves every inch of his body and seems like hes waiting for a flood.
31 reps is good for the nfl combine...i mean it's not amazing but it's better than a lot of guys at the combine. however, in no way shape or form does this make him an nfl prospect
not really not 4 a linebacker or running back that descent..... but weight strengths is ok but i mean i;ve ran over people who out benched me by 100pounds stiff armed em... hell even slammed a few ... about more den just weights n bench press
all players at the combine are at least descent...the calculation of 1rep max used by the nfl is ~225+7*reps, so he "should do" 462 1 rep max. this is better than average in every position (except maybe DL). either way i agree, good lifts does not mean a good football player
this one i think is bs...i doubt royokan can hit more than 405-415 (no offense, you just train with high reps;the heavy weight will feel awkward). in general
ya uhhh any advice to improve bench ?? becuz am 18 @ 195 and i've been stuck on 225 2 reps for like 4 months....yet i can squat 415 for 1 and deadlift 500 for 1. any suggestion cuz this plateue is really depressing.
@exterminator357 Hmm...2 yr old comment, dunno if you need advice anymore, but anyways...could be your shoulder strength that you need to work on, or your form. If you lower the bar too high on your chest, it makes it a lot tougher. Too narrow a grip also works a lot of tricep as opposed to the stronger chest muscles. So try that... For reference I bench about that, but am nowhere near your squat and d/l. What do you do for grip work?? I find that's my greatest d/l impedance.
lol reading down some comments, I see some very ignorant remarks on how locking out is better and all that, but you dont work the muscle quite the same as with the joints. Its good to strengthen the weak links tho imo.
thats impressive. Ive done alot of high rep squattin but only benched 225 for 18 reps before, and for anyone trying to put those lifts down, its harder to keep constant tension than it is to lock out each rep!! Nice job man
I don't do it myself but I know that partial reps like he was doing is actually better it puts more stress on ur pecs and gives you a better workout than extending your arms the whole way which is giving you a break I don't do it tho cuz i'm just working on gettin my weight up in benching right now i'm at 120 but i'm only 13 and haven't been workin' out for even a year yet so maybe when I get older i'll try to do it but not extending my arms fully.
For all those wana be know-it-all's, the difficulty of the reps he is doing with constant tension on the chest makes it harder, plus he isn't incorating his triceps for help. Kudos Royokan
u have to fully extend.....just look at the requirements for the NFL combine to see that u have to fully extend....according to ur reps, u are stronger than reggie bush
reggie is 6' and 206 lbs, roy is 220+ lbs and he has been working out for years like body builders do. Reggie bush is like a cheetah and overall faster and more talented in sports but this guy has been doing these exercises for years much longer than reggie has ever been working out. In brute strength royokan beats reggie hands down.
The bar was lifted to the height of the rack beam every time...
the lift distance of the bar was fine people... you do not have to FULLY extend everytime doing a bench workout let alone a 225 rep out.. when you fully extend you bring your triceps into play... these reps are made for CHEST concentration and they WERE a little more than half reps too...
Hey man hows it going. You must just sit back and laugh at these guys that are telling u you're not lifting properly.People his reps are excellent! I think there's alot of jealousy out there.
I just do the best I can and hope it'll be appreciated for what it is. Always thanx to you for support and positivity!!!! I'm working on some leg stuff now 'll prob post in the nxt week or two. Keep lifting the wat you do HARD and Heavy.:)
i hate these copouts, i been lifting for years and have not have not had any problems with my joints and i always lockout. More importanly i am not asking you to hold at the top for 5 seconds, the point is that if you dont lockout your moving the bar less distance, resulting in more reps
If he did a lockout on every rep he would have probably done 35 or 36. Not locking out makes it considerably more difficult, if you don't believe me try it
I was always taught a full extension was better. More range of motion as long as u dont rest for too when you lock out. There are times when this guy doesn't even get six inches past his chest.
Thats the point most don't get...as I get tired I begin locking out because it make the lift easier as there is a split second of time where the load is on the joints instead of the muscle...plus it is a quick way to ruin your joints. But thank you lucasbraga123 for making that point.

Just bad for the joints especially the heavier your lifting....Takes the weight off off the working muscles and uses the joints to support the load.

by locking out it would only be easier, this way he's keeping the tension on his pushing muscles at all times.
