Her "writing" of songs amounted to adding a lyric here and there and perhaps a period or two at the end of sentence in the liner notes. She was musically illiterate and John gave her far more credit during their 'collaborations" than she actually deserved. I like Yoko as person and avante garde artist but calling her musician is an enormous stretch of the imagination. Just ask Paul.
@paul195614 No she hasn't. Her father was the classically trained pianist but for some reason Yoko gets that credit. She's always been dabbled in the most extreme forms of abstract/pop art where skills and innate talents aren't an issue. With music, it was that wacky yodeling/screaming and with visual art, it was those concept pieces like "Baggism". IMO, she's a hack.. She could be a genius for all I know. I do know however that she's never excelled in any traditional form of art

@voghera1964 no, John was always brutally honest and if he was bi he' d say so. John if anything was alot more masculine than many men past or present- he had alot more courage than average and was always fighting people politically and verbally. John always wanted women in his life to be with him and serve him- for example he lived with a girlfriend/her family instead of on his own like the other Beatles, and Yoko is kinda a motherly,firm, type lady like he wanted. John was fairly "normal"

@ramblnrose Huh? Yoko couldn't play a skin flute, let alone an instrument. Her "writing" of songs amounted to adding a lyric here and there and perhaps a period or two at the end of sentence in the liner notes. She was musically illiterate and John gave her far more credit during their 'collaborations" than she actually deserved. I like Yoko as person and avante garde artist but calling her musician is an enormous stretch of the imagination. Just ask Paul.

@paul195614 No she hasn't. Her father was the classically trained pianist but for some reason Yoko gets that credit. She's always been dabbled in the most extreme forms of abstract/pop art where skills and innate talents aren't an issue. With music, it was that wacky yodeling/screaming and with visual art, it was those concept pieces like "Baggism". IMO, she's a hack.. She could be a genius for all I know. I do know however that she's never excelled in any traditional form of art

@ritter89 Well she can play classical pieces though. I remember Lennon saying Yoko was playing Moonlight Sonata, and that he created Because that way. And Yoko has also made 'normal' music without the screaming/yodeling.

@paul195614 I don't know about that. Have you seen/heard this yourself? I'd like to see something she did before she met John. I know that John constantly talked about her 'art' and would say that she was more talented than him, but he was also deeply entwined with her almost to to the point of a mother/son relationship. I've never trusted his opinion of her talents because it was skewed. I'd have to see or hear her stuff myself

John 's comment is deceptive what he means is listen in a different place and still give her view. It was always unexpected which is what he liked about her - she always was able to refresh his ideas and stimulate completely new ones. That couild only be done from left field.

I wonder if Lennon knew that Phil Spector at that time had evolved to wearing a full headed wig. It`s a good wig though isn`t it? It looks real. You can see pics of him 10 years earlier though where it`s obvious he has no hair and this cheap little toupee is on top. That`s when he ruled the airwaves. He use to walk around wearing this cheap toupee and a cape, yes a cape like Batman or Superman.

I wrote the same thing, just a minute ago. Spector was almost completely bald be the time he was 25, so here he must have been a cue-ball and yet he's got that huge mop on his head. It does look real, though. Wonder what John would have thought of Phil today with the murder wrap and those insane afro wigs he sported for his trial.

The only difference is this time they kicked the dickhead McCartney out of the group.
