I like Contra and Metal Slug, but this one is really frustrating for me. The levels are too long and there's not an easy way to get a ton of extra lives like the original game on NES.

I always liked Contra AC & NES Contra III SNES and Contra Shattered Soldiers PS2 but when I got contra Hard Corps for the Genny (as a kid) I was blown away with the speed and multiple paths... I havent had as much fun playing a Contra game until I got this one... This game is fun as hell. The AC mode is very hard though thank god for Rising mode...:)

I was psyched something good came form arc i've been disappointed after Guilty Gear Isuka all the newer ones sucked. so this was a pick me up

The first Hard Corps game differentiated itself from the regular Contra series with over the top characters, bosses, and set pieces. How is this any different ? Sure its got a little more Japanese flavor, but it still has the same Contra feel.
