  • @stiiw22 Chef John already has his own site called foodwishes. He lists a link to it in the video description, above.

  • Just like a famous restaurant...hehehe

  • Dear chef: dont you think if you put first the chiken in the eggs and then in the flour would be better?

    love ur channel.

  • @tommy182 egg stick better to meat, if you give flour first.

  • Continued... My recipe list.

  • @KamekoBruns

Yeah I somehow messed up as well in the sauce.

    I cooked everything alright.

I went wrong with 2 things.

    1. I had no sherry or wine... I looked up substitutions and it said vinegar, sugar & lemon juice. I had no vinegar so I went with rice wine. Which I used for the salmon garlic, ginger sauce. Went beautifully.

    2. Either 2 lemons is too much or I didn't reduce long enough.

It's edible. Tangy with a sharp bite. I hope to make it better next time, if not then that's out of my

  • I just tried making this and something very, very wrong happened. Usually I have great success with Chef John's recipes. I made his smothered pork chops last night and they were sublime.

The chicken came out great on this one but the sauce was horrid. I think I used too much lemon juice and the wine was some crappy Yellow Tail I had lying around. Gonna have to give it another go.

  • @KamekoBruns wine can spoil on high room temperatures, goes sour and not drinkable. Keep ur wine on cool dark places. Not in fridge. Cellar is fine. Wine needs stable temperature also. Sonds to me like your wine went bad.

  • The only difference I made was to season the chicken directly instead of mixing in with the flour. This was a quick meal and it was delicious! My husband kept saying over and over that "this recipes is a hit!" Thanks!

  • This is amazing I am 14 years old cooked this for my whole family h

  • Can we use semen instead?

  • Love it.... I love how you describe it

  • @wolfba123 do u even have ur audio on? .. he said.. he is using a fork because he have to use the camera

  • @wolfba123 Watch the video, read your comment, and understand why you are a fucking retard. ;D

The fuck.. What you're saying doesn't even make, learn how to write in English properly. Dumbass.

  • @wolfba123 You were dropped on your head as a child, weren't you?

  • can we use red wine instead???

  • @punkrockerprincesse Wouldn't recommend it

  • Yummy

  • I had this chicken at Sparo restaurant SO GOOD

  • u talk so moothly that it helps me to concentrate and learn quicker!

  • Food.

  • I made this one dinner and my husband loved it and requested to make it again the next day. Thank you

  • check my recipe, more videos soon

    watch?v=HJZsWB7XxIM

  • For example Chicken French is ALWAYS served over pasta. Usually I use chicken cubes that I boil in water, and I use that for the chicken. Then I cook the pasta in the chicken broth drain it, and use a bit of garlic salt on the pasta. I never use seasoned flour just regular flour. All I am saying is I don't know if this is your own version of Chicken French but I have never had chicken french that looked like that or made in the way in which you made it.

  • Just so you know Chef John I am from Rochester, NY and I make Chicken French all the time and it is NOTHING like what I just watched. It does not even look like Chicken French at all.

  • My butcher doesn't sell chicken -.-

  • i have stella rosa bianco, would that woek for the white wine?

  • Tiene una pinta increíble, pero mis arterias lloran ante la presencia de tanta mantequilla.

  • I wana make the sauce but without wine . Is there an alternative ?

  • Because of you i'm so fat!:))

  • Thanks Chef John ! I really enjoyed your recipe !!

  • ym ........ schnitzel?

  • i just made this, so awesome, thanx for the recipe! from philly with love

  • Chef John, you need a tripod.

  • Oh god that looks so delicious..

  • i can't even cook with two hands... this man cooks with one hand :D respect

  • And that;s why I don;t eat in restaurants anymore.

Even the great chefs use the toxic non-stick pans and even aluminum pots.

Too bad! They should know better by now.

What to use instead? best quality stainless steal, like LifeTime cookware.I bought it for myself 6 years ago and looks like new after all these years, not to mention the quality of cooking and of the food. Best purchase I've ever made.

  • Awesome Dish, but a bit too much butter for my diet. I can do the same with just oil and this still looks like it might just work out.

  • @theMegaNiche1

If you use corn oil, canola oil or vegetable oi, all are made of GMO (genetically modified organisms} thanks to Monsanto corporation. So, all these oils are refined [=dead] and full or toxicity [=poisoned] so, avoid them like a plague.

Organic butter is a good choice, but the best would be unrefined coconut oil.

  • can we use coca cola instead of wine O_O

  • Comment removed

  • My husband love it!!! Thanks!!

  • it was good thanks

  • I made this dish today.... but tastes better without the sauce

  • @cutiegooni

Without sauce is called schnitzel in Europe. It can be made like this, with flour, or with eggs and bread crumbs instead of flour. People in Europe use the schnitzels to make sandwiches.

  • @gigiontube this is nothing like schnitzel! a traditional schnitzel is veal made with flour egg AND bread crumbs served hot with potato salad. there are variations of it made of pork, but not chicken, and it's always in bread crumbs, not just flour . if someone told you this looks like shnitzel, they've misinformed you.

  • wat else can i subsuite for wine

  • I watch foodwishes while I eat so I can imagine my sandwich is something amazing..

  • @tastycajun0381 lol. my friends have ever used coca-cola as a substitution for red wines in a recipe and it worked quite nicely.

  • 'It's gonna taste chickeny..'

    .____.

  • @tastycajun0381 Really living is dying

  • u can make the sauce thick by corn flour..... love that method

  • what if i don't wanna use sherry what is the substitute?

  • HEY IM FROM ROCHESTER , NY

  • HEY IM FROM ROCHESTER , NY =)

  • God dammit, Chef John.

  • what is the difference of Chicken French and Schnitzel?? They look exactly the same to me :)

  • "make it taste chicken-y" LOL

  • What did he add in the flour? The red powder, thyme?

  • @Empoleon370 Cayenne

  • Im 13 and im interested in french food. Anyone can suggest some recipe that doesnt include beef?

  • Great recipe!! BTW, I live in Rochester NY, in Greece!

  • in korea this is called jun

  • So this is chicken jaeger schnitzel without the breading on the chicken or the chopped mushrooms in the sauce.

  • i'm making some chicken french and some french toast for breakfast!

  • This is a rocking dish. You can use cilantro too. Really adds flavor.

Chef John, PLEASE do a vid on the "mother" sauces.

  • eye saw u use 3 hands... prepared homemade veggie stock... used orange (on hand)... "whisked up" the egg... turned out sooo beeutiful...

  • Not a bad video, but not how I learned how to make it (not that this way is wrong).

    1. For all you under-agers, you can buy sherry cooking wine at your local grocery store, and you may just luck out and not get proofed, but there is no reason you can't ask a parent to get it for you if you are trying out a receipe.

    2. I also add fresh garlic to my sauce

  • lol, looks so yummy x3 i'm 16 and ya, mommy won't have to know if i "drink" with wine XDD jk

  • @Xemofrogxx4 lol im going to be 16 and i wanna do this :O lol

  • Love it

  • AT 4:00, DOES HE HAVE THREE ARMS? DIDNT HE SAY IN THE BEGINING THAT HE NEEDED TO HOLD THE CAMERA WHILE HE DREDGE THE CHICKEN? CONSPIRACY? HE IS AN ALIEN!!!!! AHHHHH!!! ;)

  • can i use chicken filets instead?

  • @andoykids Chicken breast is fillet -_-

  • can i use chicken filets instead?

  • I have made this by slicing chicken breast myself and it had my tastebuds dancing the fandango. Simply frightenignly good. Works awesomely well with home-made potato pancakes!

  • New years eve. im stoned out of my mind, and ive been watching chef john for the past 2 hours. i love my life

  • @ScandelousHarmonicaP don't do drugs kid.

  • I'm muslim and I really like your videos but just can you tell something instead wine ?

I was thinking about apple vineger

  • I'm muslim and I really like your videos but just can you tell some instead wine ?

I was thinking about apple vineger

  • @khaleed808 I used apple cider vinegar. I liked it without the taste of the wine :D try it :D

  • I made this last night and it was amazing. I did make the mistake of putting a tad to much lemon in the sauce, so it was a bit tart. Regardless, it still tasted so good. The chicken is so tender and moist. I highly recommend this dish. Thanks Chef!

  • Drunken? You're 15? Wow...get off of YouTube and go study your English book.

  • Made this last night and it was SO easy and absolutely delish. It is really simple to make but if you made this for guests they would be impressed. Love it!!

  • Is it called Chicken French because it looks like French Toast?

  • can i use regular sherry coking wine or does it have to be dry? i kinda need to know like soon

  • @mkh97 The problem with cooking wines is that they contain a fair amount of salt to make them undrinkable. This also avoids taxes placed on drinkable spirits. The issue here is that it makes it more difficult to control how much salt you add to your dish. While I don't agree with the belief that you should only cook with a wine that you would drink; cooking wines are never a good option. A cheap dry sherry will do you better in the end.

  • chicken breast... BORING!? Not if you have any clue how to cook! Chicken Breast is amazing

  • Hello John, being from Rochester, NY my whole life I didn't realize Chicken French originated here. Are you from Rochester, NY? Great vids ... take care ... Mike

  • love the way you throw the butter on the pan

  • 3:20-3:38 .. woah

  • how can I use less butter?

  • @whatnameisavailablee and whole wheat flour

  • @whatnameisavailablee You can certainly use other flours. The point of the flour is to help the egg adhere to the chicken. As for the butter, if you have homemade chicken stock that has enough gelatin in it to be solid while cold use that in stead. The gelatin will give a rich mouth feel and thickness that you would lack with out the butter.

  • @inept0 cool! thanks for the tips. Maybe even some arrowroot in the stock... maybe? heh... I think I will experiment with this. Chicken can get so boring! hehe I must improve. I know these different ingredients will change things... but it is worth it to me.

  • "falling asleep half way through the bite" hahaha! good one. Help me here chef, any alternative to that fancy sauce you made. I dont get those ingredients around where I live.

  • Well darn me.

New to me, but i will do it.

    Thanks

  • "one hand for the wet stuff, one hand for the dry stuff" thats what she said xD

  • I look at many videos online and i gotta say...I actually Understand You and i can cook your dishes Thank you so much!!!!. I am cooking better than the mother-in-law lol

  • Aww yeah im making this right now

  • Haha my mum makes meat balls like this up to the wine :)

  • the butter is dancing in the vegetable stock at 3:23

  • What if ur under 18 and dun got any wine within reach D:

  • I made this and it was amazing...

  • chef john your the MAN you all love you and all your cooking videos ROCK ON DOOD lol

  • O_O I'm from Rochester NY!

  • um...im only 15...is there any alternative sauce i can make w/o wine? XD

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 Wine is fine to use in cooking because the alcohol burns off unless your parents don't allow you to use it but anyways if you want to make sauces without wine try making a french tomato sauce look the reipe up it works well with many foods like chicken.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393

You can just use white cooking wine, that's what i did when i made this and it still came out great, im 16

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 Yes, of course, you can simply leave it out. While it will not taste the same, it will taste good. Alternative, if you're committed to cooking, perhaps your parents will purchase for you a bottle of wine to use for cooking. It does not hurt to ask.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 maybe just juice or maybe cyder

  • @Kalihiniloboi393

    dont be such a bitch

  • @turtles12 How is that bitchy? Im just asking if there is an alternative thing I can use instead of wine in this dish, since my parents don't want me screwing around with alcoholic beverages...

  • @Kalihiniloboi393

dammnit man fuck your parents who cares what they want you're fifteen years old for christ's sake drink that shit. furthermore all of the alcohol in the entire trickle he poured in will cook off anyway but that is besides the point you need to start drinking NOW

  • @turtles12 Good point about the alcohol burning off...and i have drunken alcohol before, dont get me wrong.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393

well stop listening to your parents don't be stupid

  • @Kalihiniloboi393

You can use a lot of things like : Non-alcoholic wine, diluted white wine vinegar or cider vinegar, white grape juice diluted with white wine vinegar, ginger ale. :)

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 use windex instead.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 When you use wine in cooking all the alcohol(Most depending how long) will be gone during the reducing process.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 you could use a little more lemon juice, a splash of vinegar and some water. i think it will taste quite good too!

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 he saig white whine

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 The alcohol cooks out and just leaves the flavor.

  • @Sterba70 well scientifically it doesn't cook out, but there is not enough alcohol in there to cause any major harm

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 - use non-alcoholic wine or, even sparkling juice. Hey, use root beer!

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 No. It has to do with alcohol soluble flavors.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 The alcohol goes away when you cook it.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 alchohol gets evaporated when you cook it so it's ok yo cook with it the flavor of the wine is what he wants not the alchohol

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 what Wolftamer said, but you can also get non-alcoholic versions of wines.

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 Its gonna evaporate?

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 The alcohol will dissapear when you boil the sauce, so don't worry!

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 when i was 15 i used to drink vodka instead of water any you cant eat some food with a little bit of wine in it !

  • @H3MetalC0rE so when did you realise water isnt supposed to taste like vodka ?

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 go through your parents wine cabinet

  • @Kalihiniloboi393 alcohol evaporates in the pan :) too bad people can't get drunk from food lol

  • @Kalihiniloboi393

use Sprite or 7-up instead. LOL

  • Well, this is comin' from me: That is some DAMN fine Chicken French :)
