@MrRoberthawley you can use any nutrients as long as u get a bottle for veg and a bottle for bloom . Just use less nutrients than the recommended doses . Blackstrap molasses works great or any unsulphered molasses works as well .

Hey man i have a question, can i grow 6 small plants with 2 25w cfl light? I put them in a small box and put some reflectors in it. the distance between the light and plants are i think somewhat 3 - 6 inches.
Great vid. Im using a blue spectrum giant 200w cfl. The plants i have chosen are auto flowering blue himalaya. DWC is the grow system. I currently have them on 24/7 and will drop to 20/4 light cycle when flowers appear. Will i need additional lighting ?? If so im sticking with cfl. what would you recomend, size, wattage, spectrum etc. 4:20

@missmaddie1993 if your plant is young and small give it less nutrients once a week or just when it looks like it needs some (real light green color or pale ) best thing to do is check the back of the bottle or Google the feeding chart for your brand of nutrients . Always start with half the recommended dose to see how your plants handle it . I've never even heard of root slime LOL but good drainage in the soil and pot will help a lot also don't over water .
@tupzcanwell use both spectrum's of light during flower..Veg use the daylight CFL's 100w equivalent or more. flower use the highest CFL soft white bulbs and mix them up with your blue spec bulbs. works great!

@theharvester517 dont use anything lower than a 23watt CFL which is 100 watt equivalent. i wouldnt worry about all the other crap it says on the bulbs. watts and spectrum is all you need to focus on with that.

@killersquirrel122 walmart has a killer GE 55 Watt CFL (2700K) flower spectrum. i have a few vids up using those. I use 4 foot floro tubes (6500K) too. i use the 6500 from start to finish, 2700K only in flower (or add one in last week of veg to get them to 'harden'. Sly knows best, watch his vids, i just thot i'd add this. Hey Sly, have you ever considered atleast one Hps bulb around 150-200 watt for your flowering room? it gives the best amount of bright red light for flowering.
@falconup805 well the kind he uses are for socketed bulbs. They do make self ballasted CFLs usually around 125-150 watts with a hood to them and one huge bulb. I have one and I think it's pretty nice to use for seedlings and the first couple of weeks of veg. Once they get tall they just don't have the light to penetrate the canopy and they can start to stretch on you.
Did you know there is a 86 watt cfl? That would be the equivalent of a 400 HPS in lumens. The coolest thing about that is that the light is only 40$ or so. A person can't get a 400 watt HPS for that let alone the ballast. Just saying

The box I built is 2x2x4 4 feet high. But I am also using 6 cfls. And I get consistant size and weight. It is tight but I can rotate two plants and I have a clone / mother box. so it is a steady roll. Good job man ... Rock on.. Yours look just like mine do.

@odin5150 just use bulbs that are in or near the right spectrums , blue and red , I have a video on cfls and the right spectrum, u can do vertical lights but u may want one set at the top pointing down as well .

Right now the lights are 4-5 inches from soil. I have the actual cups inside a rubbermaid box. I have a fan inside with them that blows air up and out as well as a fan above the grow box pushing air in. The rubbermaid box is lines with foil and the box is placed on a 3x2 cut out in wall.
I don't know if you can help. But I just started, put my germinated seed in soil. put my soil in solo cup. I have 4 cups with one seed in them. Yesterday I started 20 hours of light from the 4 100 watt CFLs. Could anyone tell me if it over kill or not enough?

Your energy bills must be a lot less compared to ppl using hps. Can you comment on the difference between hps and cfl yields? Obviously hps is expected to produce more, but is it really worth the higher energy bills for the final weigh-in? Like you said, you're getting great results with your cfl's so the difference in final weight cant be that high, right? Keep the vids coming plz, theyre awesome ;)
@Rei89CH cfl can grow great in veg stage can grow just as big as hps or mH lights, but when it comes to flowering u will never get near as muuch bud weight out of the cfl as u will hps, u can still yeild a good bit with cfl but energy cost to weight ur going to for sure get ur moneys worth out of hps lighting, but cfl if setup right are definetly better for vegging as far as power bill goes, or u can get a 150 watt hps or mH and use it for veg with good reflectors.

@Rei89CH well they make very large cfl's but u can use a combo of several smaller ones, for flower id use 4-6 2700kelvin 100watt(26watt cfl rating 100 watt equivalents) for a larger plant i put 4 of them over top of the plant using them heat lamp reflectors 10-12 inch 2 bulbs per reflector using the y splitters, those reflectors work gr8 for the cfl cause the direct more light down,N keep them bout 2-3 inches above plant then put 1-3 bulbs mid way down on the side of the plant with mylar wrk gr8

@TR348TR veg for a month or two and flower for 8-10 weeks , if your growing six plants your going to need a lot of light . At least ten 23w cfls maybe more . You had a lot of typos so I can't really give you a better answer for now .

@mommiendaddie09 if that's all u got you could do it , use the 75w for vegging and then use both when you flower , I'd only grow 2 small plants with that maybe 3 small plants , make sure u lollipop the plants 2 weeks before u flower so u don't waste your time on lower growth that won't get shotgun light . dude, it's surprising that you have decent internode spacing. i thought the whole point of using hps or mh was to limit the stretch of the plant as well as the different spectrum of light. good shit, but also good luck yielding top shelf with 4 cfl bulbs. idk, let me know how it turns out, if you get great results, hey, i might switch over.
@mansoorzameer its six bulbs but in that video I was vegging the plant , I added 2 bulbs when i flowered bringing it to 8 bulbs u can see what i grew with 8 in another video , now I'm using 10 bulbs
the closer the plants are to the light the less the spacing will be, thats the beauty of cfls heat isnt really an issue. my seedling is about 2 inches tall with 3 nodes already and its almost pure sativa so the short and stoutness of it is really suprising me now
Hey man, i got my own grow box setup and am aiming for 4-5 plants. i got a 92 watt T5 fluorescent light system giving off 8900 lumens as well as 4 65 watt CFL bulbs giving off 3900 lumens each. is that enough lighting, and i was wondering if i needed to vent the tent out even if it is somewhat small, i believe it is about a little over 5 feet tall, 1' 8" deep and 2'8" wide. thanks man, i also have one fan just suspending in the air, is that ok?

Man u got sum damn fine plants here from the CFLs!!!! You give me new inspiration LOL, as I too am a CFL grower. Check my channel I had a good deep water culture goin but they died when I tried to correct root rot issues. Too much heat at the hot spot.
Iwas just wondering if those were special grow 23W cfl or just your run of the mill, regular CFL, and what is the temp 14K or what, can you use them to frow and flower or do you have to switch to a different bulb.
I found that 3 bulbs will be suficient for each square foot. So ur right on target with that one. I decided to shoot for the 3000 lumens per sq ft to achieve EXCELLENT growth. While 5000 lumens is said to be OPTIMUM. So sure, your plants will grow fine especially since u have reflective surroundings. Right now im running 18 in a 2x8 area witch gives me just over 3000 lumens per sq ft.

@odin5150 just use bulbs that are in or near the right spectrums , blue and red , I have a video on cfls and the right spectrum, u can do vertical lights but u may want one set at the top pointing down as well .

Right now the lights are 4-5 inches from soil. I have the actual cups inside a rubbermaid box. I have a fan inside with them that blows air up and out as well as a fan above the grow box pushing air in. The rubbermaid box is lines with foil and the box is placed on a 3x2 cut out in wall.

I don't know if you can help. But I just started, put my germinated seed in soil. put my soil in solo cup. I have 4 cups with one seed in them. Yesterday I started 20 hours of light from the 4 100 watt CFLs. Could anyone tell me if it over kill or not enough?

Your energy bills must be a lot less compared to ppl using hps. Can you comment on the difference between hps and cfl yields? Obviously hps is expected to produce more, but is it really worth the higher energy bills for the final weigh-in? Like you said, you're getting great results with your cfl's so the difference in final weight cant be that high, right? Keep the vids coming plz, theyre awesome ;)

@Rei89CH cfl can grow great in veg stage can grow just as big as hps or mH lights, but when it comes to flowering u will never get near as muuch bud weight out of the cfl as u will hps, u can still yeild a good bit with cfl but energy cost to weight ur going to for sure get ur moneys worth out of hps lighting, but cfl if setup right are definetly better for vegging as far as power bill goes, or u can get a 150 watt hps or mH and use it for veg with good reflectors.

@Rei89CH well they make very large cfl's but u can use a combo of several smaller ones, for flower id use 4-6 2700kelvin 100watt(26watt cfl rating 100 watt equivalents) for a larger plant i put 4 of them over top of the plant using them heat lamp reflectors 10-12 inch 2 bulbs per reflector using the y splitters, those reflectors work gr8 for the cfl cause the direct more light down,N keep them bout 2-3 inches above plant then put 1-3 bulbs mid way down on the side of the plant with mylar wrk gr8

@TR348TR veg for a month or two and flower for 8-10 weeks , if your growing six plants your going to need a lot of light . At least ten 23w cfls maybe more . You had a lot of typos so I can't really give you a better answer for now .

@mommiendaddie09 if that's all u got you could do it , use the 75w for vegging and then use both when you flower , I'd only grow 2 small plants with that maybe 3 small plants , make sure u lollipop the plants 2 weeks before u flower so u don't waste your time on lower growth that won't get shotgun light . dude, it's surprising that you have decent internode spacing. i thought the whole point of using hps or mh was to limit the stretch of the plant as well as the different spectrum of light. good shit, but also good luck yielding top shelf with 4 cfl bulbs. idk, let me know how it turns out, if you get great results, hey, i might switch over.

the closer the plants are to the light the less the spacing will be, thats the beauty of cfls heat isnt really an issue. my seedling is about 2 inches tall with 3 nodes already and its almost pure sativa so the short and stoutness of it is really suprising me now

Hey man, i got my own grow box setup and am aiming for 4-5 plants. i got a 92 watt T5 fluorescent light system giving off 8900 lumens as well as 4 65 watt CFL bulbs giving off 3900 lumens each. is that enough lighting, and i was wondering if i needed to vent the tent out even if it is somewhat small, i believe it is about a little over 5 feet tall, 1' 8" deep and 2'8" wide. thanks man, i also have one fan just suspending in the air, is that ok?

I found that 3 bulbs will be suficient for each square foot. So ur right on target with that one. I decided to shoot for the 3000 lumens per sq ft to achieve EXCELLENT growth. While 5000 lumens is said to be OPTIMUM. So sure, your plants will grow fine especially since u have reflective surroundings. Right now im running 18 in a 2x8 area witch gives me just over 3000 lumens per sq ft.
