Tried switching from Dark Elf male to Breton female and got the headless glitch, but stats were untouched. Tried again, this time to Nord Female, and got jacked up stats with no headless glitch. At least those are easily fixed, lol. Thanks for the vid.

I found out how to fix the invisible head glitch when you change your race! The way I did this though put me to LEVEL 81, MAXED STATS, AND ALL PERKS UNLOCKED. First, download the master.txt (look it up on google) and drag it to the Skyrim folder. Then open up Skyrim and ONLY put "showracemenu". Now change your race and customize to your liking. After that put "bat master" and save. Your welcome!

Once you change into a werewolf, your race change back to original and you might lose a head when you reload after turning into a werewolf... become a headless character... there is no known fix for this... spent like 1 hour to find a fix but to no avail

Ahh, my steam achievements messed up long ago when I accidentaly typed in "caqs" in the console and started getting every achievement. (The command completes EVERY SINGLE QUEST in skyrim, DO NOT do that, ok?) However, I immediately quit the game so I didn't get all, hehe, and I had recently saved so my game wasn't ruined. The problem is, now I can't get achievements. At all. I don't really care though, I'd much rather play without steam all the time.

There may be one weird/awesome/dumb side effect to this; it may shuffle your stats.

I had a stealth character, I've lost allot of levels in smithing/one-handed/stealth/ra­ndom others and other random skills I've never used are high, good to level up skills you hate without actually cheating, bad to lose to what you had before, but never fear, you keep your perks, I can stealth roll with my level 16 stealth ( I just leveled it up =^_^= )

Hey, can you try changing from say your Argonian to a Breton? I know that changing from anything to a Nord is bugged, but I seem to have run into a bug when I changed my Argonian to a Breton; and the bug was when I put on a helm on my "new" Breton and take it off, his head would disappear.

@SteveFromTheDeli I think that's just a regular bug. Before I even started messing with this stuff, I got the dragon priest mask Morokei. Sometimes when I would put it on my head would disappear in third person. I think it's just a graphical glitch or something.

To avoid the headless glitch, fast travel to somewhere (some places won't work - holds are your best bet), then save. The character code is re-read after fast-travelling to some places and will prevent the game from "confusing" your race.

@UnehrenhafteWolf My technique stopped working after a while. Now I just open the console and type "player.setrace [original race]", then "player.setrace [chosen race]". It works every time, and for all races, but you have to do it each time you launch the game.

The only bugless way to change the race is to write down all your skills and then change the race in the showracemenu and cheat your skill correctly again via console.

At all the decapited out here, try to unequip Morokei maybe first... Btw, guys, it's a simple thing to fix your skills with the console after changing your race. Just write down what number your skills were at before and edit them back to that number afterwards.

Hello everyone i know how to change your race without messing it all up!!!!!

Check al the skill levels you have and write them down, or just remember them! I noticed when doing the cheat showracemenu it wont mess up the perks you have but just the skill level. So here is the deal: typ: ` then enter: showracemenu and just change the race u want and change your name or keep the old one. After that do: ` and then typ: player.modav speechcraft 50 as example. That means you get +50 speech as examp

Where “skill” is the skill you want to modify, and X is the amount you want to modify it by. Skills are inputted via their in-game names without spaces, apart from Archery which is “Marksman”, and Speech, which is known as “Speechcraft”

If you reload Skyrim after doing a race change your head will not appear on your character and you will only be able to see your body. Also, If you load a save that was saved while you were in third person before you've reloaded Skyrim, your character will be completely invisible. For right now, I would recommend not attempting a race change through the console and instead wait for someone to come out with a mod or something of that sort.

Following Svixylix comment Im now a Nord with a head and all the glory that comes with it. Paper and pen, write down skills and atributes.

open console and get cracking with player.setav twohanded 88 and so on. Archery is called marksman in console and speech goes under speechcraft.

All progress in the skills are kept and so are the perks, took a dummy like me like 5 min to get it all in order. player.setav stamina 350 etc for those that didnt get that.

All the methods mentioned so far have some problems; OGrdnr's method is good but I noticed when restarting the game my character's head is invisible, also racial traits such as Khajiit claws do not cross over. Simply using 'showracemenu' DOES mess your statistics up however it does not cause your head to disappear and does give you proper racial traits.

Then you can use the 'player.setav' command to tweak your attributes to how they should be (how they were before +/- stuff from changing race)

As I said below this example was just for Breton. If someone wants to look up all of the other "active effect" codes for the other races that would be nice to post here and add to your guide. The other lost effects when you race change are:

Argonian: Resist Disease, Waterbreathing

High Elf: Highborn

Imperial: Imperial Luck

Khajiit: Claws

Redguard: Resist Poison

Bosmer: Resist Disease and Poison

Dark Elf: Resist Fire

You may want to create another video for this tip and trick that explains how you lose your "Active Effect" racial bonuses when you change races in this way. You do get the "casted" racial bonuses when you race change just not the active effects such as "Resist Magic" for Breton. However, there is a work around for this.

After doing the race changed mentioned in the video next type the following:

player.addspell 000aa01f

This example will give you the missing racial bonus for Breton.

But as it seems if you are trying to change into Nord you will loose your head. im not sure if it happens every time but at first i was male Kahjet or what ever that kitty cat is :D And when i changed myself into nord i lost my head, tho when i changed second time: Nord to Imperial i had head again. Maybe its just Nord race problem that they like to be headless. I find it fun to run aroun with empty helmet.
