I love this song so much! I can hear it over and over again and never get sick of it. This is by far the best live version I have heard. Thank you for posting!
I AM 51 AND I LOVE THIS SONG EVER SINCE IT CAME OUT BACK IN 1975, I WAS 15 BACK THEN, KINDA MAKES ME FEEL LIKE CRYING, BUT I´LL TRY NOT TO, HAHA....GREETINGS FROM GUANAJUATO, MEXICO. (PLEASE TAKE IT EASY ON MY ENGLISH).
This shows how diverse & talented Ambrosia are. And also explains why Alan Parsons who worked on the last 2 Beatles albums & had just mixed Pink Floyd's DSOTM, chose to work with Ambrosia on their debut & follow up album. He had carte blanche in the industry and worked with Ambrosia before they had released an album. That would normally qualify for Name Dropping however in this case it makes a strong statement about Ambrosia and remains true to this day. Thank You For All The Great Music!
me 2 Seen them in Deadwood, never forget it - because it was the last time my 2 brothers were there to witness Ambrosia. Their gone now they past on that concert was so awesome. I could open up my vocals sing. hey truckrhugo after 50 you go to 49 and so forth return
Dear Ambrosia, thanks so much for your wonderful music and for posting these excellent vids. I keep coming back to hear them over and over. Please don't worry about these critics, I'm glad you guys are still making great music after all these years. Keep up the great work and thanks again!
sorry, but the vocal is terrible, Joe Puerta is no David Pack. The replacement guitarist is no David Pack either. A shame because, if you ever saw the real lineup, you would REALLY be impressed.
i loved this song back then, but i had forgotten all about it till recently. it somehow popped into my head. it was hard to find, couldn't even remember who it was by, or the name of the song. but today is my lucky day. thanks!!
ambrosia, umm i wonder if i ever saw them in concert. i was living in denver co, and went to every concert that came to town, and they could have opened for somebody, i can't remember too many of the opening bands. "steel eye span" opened for tull on the passion play tour. and canned heat opened for james gang. umm this version is pretty good...
I cut my teeth on hard rock, coming of age in the 70's and have a wide scope of music that I listen to today. I've seen some "killer" concerts over the years, Pink Floyd, Pat Traverse, B.B. King, The Rolling Stones, etc... Last Thursday I had the pleasure of seeing AMBROSIA at C2G in Ft. Wayne. It was a fantastic concert, in fact, both musically and acoustically, one of the best I've ever seen and I've seen some great ones! If you EVER have the chance to see them GO! I'm now a fan for life.
@myoldguitar62 you ... oh, i was gunna say you weren't wearing bobby socks in the 70s. but if you're 62, maybe you were... : )) i'm only a few yrs. behind you, and bobby socks were long gone by then. but that's funny. "blew your bobby socks off!"" lol, i would like to see that!!!!
@myoldguitar62 have you seen the lovely mary weiss of shangri las, doing a live "walking in the sand" at house of blues? man, she's just as beautiful and talented as she was at 16!! i even love her more now!!!
Fantastic! love this song, my fav ambrosia song.. Yeah, why isn't the original album version on here?????? i thought everything was on here!! may have to try and figure out a way to get it on here..
Beautiful, but somehow liked the original better..Ambrosia sure did come out with some beautiful music!!..Guess it's what you grew up with..But awesome musicians anyhoo!!..
I just heard this song the other day for the first time since I was 18. Was fresh out of high school and had moved to Columbus, Ohio. This was a really great rendition of that song. Should put it on iTunes or something guys.
These guys came to Grand Rapids, Mich back in August for an outdoor free concert and they were absolutely amazing. Their newest member Rick Cowling (vocals and keys) was outstanding and would give David Pack a run for his money, this guy can really belt it out. The band hung out afterwards and signed autographs and just became part of the crowd, AWESOME
I agree with renecrod3. I wish somebody could put the original on here, because as far as I'm concerned, the original is the best song I've ever heard.
I too have enjoyed this since I first purchased the 8 Track. Yes I am "old" too. I will agree on the talent statement, I feel there is more in just one finger of these musicians than is in most bands out there today. Thank you so much for the wonderful music and video.
I have been involved in commercial broadcast radio since the age of 13 when my stones dropped and I started to DJ (I am 54 now....) and have NEVER seen such a backlash against the crap that is considered pop/rock/contemporary out there right now.
Where is the friggin' talent???? Even the African-American music was LOADED with talent! Motown! Funk! Aretha! James Brown! Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool and the Gang!
AMBROSIA- absolutely a showcase clip of how real, true, accomplished musicians can each play an instrument, sing, and make such great music! Well done! I was 9 years old when this song came out in 1975, I guess you can say I am "Holdin' On To Yesterday" as to when great music was recorded, a prime example. By the way, the harmonica is right on and perfect for this song!
Ambrosia just did a FREE concert in my hometown-Grand rapids, Mich. It was absolutely Fabulous!!! It was so good, they sounded like they were still in their prime.
Ambrosia just did a FREE concert in my hometown-Grand rapids, Mich. It was absolutely Fabulous!!! It was so good, they sounded like they were still in their prime.
Hey, phepple, can't argue with you there. That's where it all began, with "Nice, Nice, Very Nice," "And....Somewhere I've Never Travelled," "Life Beyond L.A.," "Angola," and so many more. But the best, of course, was indeed "Holdin' on to Yesterday." Still, David was a major force vocally back then. I'm just a huge fan of David Pack's pure voice, and there's always been the "two" Ambrosia factions; there always will be. Someday, I hope they'll all reunite. THAT would be something!
An interesting live session of the re-formed Ambrosia. It's good to see Burleigh Drummond and the guys again, but sorry--no David Pack, no Ambrosia. You have a competent new lead singer who does his best impersonation, but there's only one David Pack. And he's doing his own thing, heavy into the Lord (after a chance meeting with Billy Graham), plus doing lots of producing-M/D'ing, doing occasional GREAT new CDs (not faith-based), and doing regular gigs. Still, it's great to have Ambrosia back.
@Mauitunes Fortunately for fans the current Ambrosia is still exploring Progressive Rock and will headline Cal Prog Oct 2 playing ONLY their Prog Rock songs. None of the DP Pop, which is a breath of fresh air for the true Ambrosia Fans.
Ambrosia's best song, but it's at 50% without David Pack & the Roland instead of a Hammond B3/Leslie Cabinet is well, lacking....but it's still good & I'll take it
Beautiful, guys. Simply amazing. I'm really looking forward to seeing you at CalProg 2010 in Whittier on 10/2. Please play this one for my wife Kathy. She'd love you forever.
Wow!!!!! Now, this is real music. Not like the so called music we have today with artists wannabes. A true classic, and they sound like....... Yesterday.
Like Ambrosia sounded in the 70's. Thank you for posting.
A true American jewel! Full of SOUL!!! The musicians of today need to wake up, take note and put this kind of soul back into music!!! It would do nothing but good for this country! This is "feel good music" unlike most of the useless noise that's perpetuating and filling the minds of society today... Kinda ironic song title, don't you think?
