In your typical fighting game we have zoners, rush downs, grabbles and charge characters. Peacock is a zoner, Filia is a rush down, Cerebella is a grabble, and Parasoul is a rush down. So where is the charge character? It out of Umbrella, Pain Wheel or Squigly.
@dre81000 Actually, Parasoul is a trap/poking type of character. Think Spiral/Stryder in MvC2. She also has charged moves. If you're expecting a dedicated charge charge character like Guile you may be mistaken.
@dre81000 not all f-games have charge characters (BlazBlue, for example), and some of them have a character with charge moves but are not the core of his gameplay (like Shuma Gorath on UMvC3 and Terry on KoF XIII).
@IcyKhold It uses GGPO for it's online code, so it's pretty much a given that it will have spectacular spectator mode :) Some of the makers of this game are fighting game tournament players, which also makes me think it's impossible for this game to not have one.

All of them are, not even the ones made by her, which is grrrreat.

Technically, Skullgirls came before Sucker Punch, Ahad was working on the art since around 2004, 2006 was when he started actual work on the skullgirls cast and finally 2011 was when Skullgirls is reaching the final stage. 10 Whole years of game development. and making connections to get the thing done (My opinion on the hardest was getting two somewhat well known VAs to voice the game)
Of course not, I can see potential within it. Now that's Indie Game development, 10 years of hard work and connections hopefully paying off for a good wholesome doujin fighter. At least we can mention something other than Mortal Kombat as a fun fighting game. A far cry from the 90's of Mortal Kombat usurpers like Bloodstorm and Thrill Kill.
Cant wait to give this game a try, looks not too bad. I do like fast paced fighting games like MVC, tekken, and Blazblue(which im not too crazy about, not my cup of tea.).

@SgtChilly We're getting away from what you originally said, which was that this game was an attempt to "break away from the norm". That's what I was addressing in my previous comments, that this game is NOT original at all, in fact it is highly derivative and rips off many elements from MVC3. I don't know how you managed to spin it in a completely different direction but then again I'm arguing with a fucking retard so I don't expect anything coming from your end to have any semblance of logic.

I don't it see it. To me it looked like a cartoonish version of Guilty Gear. Except not as dark or insane. Also lacking in the foreground/background jumping. Not to mention it doesn't have any male characters.
So like Guilty Gear but really different.
As for what passes as 'original' in your mind I don't even want to imagine. Mostly because I suspect it to be hypocritical.

If you think that mvc is the only fighting game with combos or tag-teams or even just the first game with these mechanincs then you are quite mistaken

In fact the person heading development on this game, Mike Z, is a prominent MVC2 player so this game is unquestionably going to just be a modified MVC2. @PsychoJosh First of all, there is no example of any sort of hypercombo level 3 hyper combo presented in said video. Second every fighting game has some form of combo system that works similarly and the one used in this game has been made from scratch . Third, if he is a prominent player then that just means that he's experienced the fighting genre firsthand, he knows what he's doing, and knows the ups and downs of fighting games.

Yes, some machanics may be similar but that does not mean it's going to be a flat out mod. there are some things that are just mainstream or in the process of being so. Besides, just because he plays it does not mean it would be a mod. Not every game developer who has been a prominent player of Super Mario Bros made a mod for a living.

Not hype enough. I wish the music was more exciting, and the gameplay clips chosen could have been better.
God, especially that clip where you've basically got a four character bodypile in the middle of the screen. It doesn't read well. People want to see big combos.
The hit sound effects could be better, too.
They've got a while before release, so hopefully this will be fixed.
