why is it? gaetz could nearly hit as hard as twist in his prime, take far more punches then twist could and was bigger and stronger. I like twist a lot, but gaetz would have beaten him many more times if he didnt have the accident.
@wehateturkss if he didn't get into that severe accident, where he had brain damage and his skull was broken. There is no question in my mind Gaetz would of been champ in the NHL. And probably been known as one of the top 10 or perhaps top 5 best fighters of all time.

I just took it the wrong way. My bad. But correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't there also a third fight? (cause I thought that was when Gaetz got the best of him again, but your right.) But then again, I may be thinking of the IHL, they had a past then too.(supposedly)

Before his car accident, Link Gaetz was one of the NHL's best fighters. He scored draws with prime Probert, AND prime Kocur. Without steroids, Twist was a nobody, so this fight was pretty much over before it started.
Twist was drafted by St.Louis in 88. Took him 6 years to score a goal. Now that is getting what you paid for. Hell, at least Probert scored goals, skated on multiple lines, made an all-star game and kicked ass. Twist was like a basketball scrub. Wait till the Blues were down by 10 points the put him in the game with :20 seconds left to start a fight with someone that had just skated for an hour.

Twist was way over-rated. Basil McRae killed him here in Detroit a few years back. Thats why the Blues got Ewen,...cause Twist was done.

First off, Twist and Basil McRae NEVER fought each other.
Secondly, Twist replaced Todd Ewen in 89-90, not the other way around. Twist came up from the minors and Ewen was soon traded to Montreal.

Basil played for the Wings from 1986 to 1987. Tony Twist wouldn't even debut in the NHL until 1990.
