There have been documented cases at reserves like the one in this video... that brought in an injured or sick lion from hte wild, treated them and then released them back in the wild, only to find them more seriously injured again in the fuure... they cant make it in hte wild. Its not like they were "captured" and are being forced to live in captivity. You find these animals in zoos only in developed countries, where they dont exist in a natural setting.

Zoos make me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Imagine if those animals escaped into urban areas...I think that we should look at animals in their natural habitats, but from afar so that we don't disturb them and we are safe. Looking at lions and other animals in a jeep in the middle of a desert in Africa would be nice and more of an experience.

@sherrihalo it depends on which zoo- what was a zoos original purpose? to educate ppl about animals and get them interested in them for conservation efforts- you should only go to zoos that are accredited by the AZA and make sure that their animals are well taken care of and that the majority of their animals are there for rehabilitation reasons- all zoos aren't bad- you just have to go to the right ones

@ffafii wow I'm sorry but you need to get your facts straight, the only time that they are born in zoos for that reason is their breeding programs for repopulating rare species. In those cases the animals are fed live food and have little to no contact from the keepers other than for vet check ups. Most animals raised in regular zoo enviroments would die if released back into the wild or hurt people. The breeding programs are like 10% of all zoos so its not many animals its few.
