Im 12 and when my dog was having puppies she did the same thing it was so cool... but it scared me a little because i was home alone when she was doing it and i had to help her pull it out and my dog ate the sack it made me sick but when she was done i cryed because i never seen my dog take care of any thing so special before and she knew what to do :'')

It is actually a bit easier for a momma to have a baby standing because gravity pulls it down and everything comes out. Our dog had trouble having her pups so we made her stand when she contracted, they came out much easier.

Its part of their natural behaviours, all wild animals do this because as a way of cleaning the "evidence" of birth. If they dind't do this, predators would track them down easier, knowing that there was a baby born recently.

i remember delievering my dogs puppies. my dog didnt know how to break the sack open so i had to do it for the first few puppies. then she realized she had to do it. the cutest lab puppies ever. it was such an amazing sight!
