  • Love her!

  • Tres beau , j'aimerais être aussi bon au violon !!!

  • thank you lovely

  • I wasn't gay, just a very weird girl...and it does get so much better. Can hardly remember how devastating high school was, how huge it once felt, all of that betrayal, all of the bullying and derision. Love Mary Gauthier, Cannot imagine life without my family of choice, gay and straight...but not one of them is a homophobe. Hope lots of kids who could use some encouragement hear this, take heart. It does get amazingly better after 20 or so...

  • Thanks for this, Mary. I also want to say that Mercy Now is one of my favorite albums ever. Should have won lots of Grammys. Love your voice and spirit!

  • Love it.

  • Thank you, Mary.

  • Dear Mary, Thank you for this. Just beautiful.

  • Thanks tduhk for posting this bc I couldn't see it on the IGBP site.

Mary has such an ability to communicate with young people, I can't help but think how even more powerful she might be in person, such as a lecture / performance for young gay people. Bless them both for the lives their work will save.

  • You know how much I loved this? Enough to actually create an account here to say so. I've watched a lot of these "It Gets Better" videos. But this is the only one that moved me to want to comment to say anything. You ROCK!

  • Awesome! I belted out every word of that song with her. It's one of my favorites! <3

She's got it right - the outsiders are the movers and shakers of the world.

  • DQIL is such a joy to hear. So lovingly performed here for its young audience, the message really resonates. Wish my son had seen this when he was being thrown in rubbish bins and having his bones broken. He's just turned 23 and he's amazing and happy and kinda resiliant. It get better, and it takes time.

Thank you both so very much, I will share this with my beautiful gay boy.

  • Wonderful rendition of a great song, maybe the best I've heard so far. Thanks for sharing!

  • This is empowering and positive. Homophobia and teen suicide are terrble problems overseas too. I take calls from isolated children, many bullied and some with gay issues. Some don't have another town for 1000km (600miles), they feel stuck and alone. I will suggest these films to them, to let them know they're not alone, that their lives will get better. This will be seen by children thousands of miles away and help them survive their teen years. Thank you.

  • . one can only imagine the lifeline being tossed here for somebody...being tossed by a lady whose honesty resides in simplicity, sifted through pain and who with deliberate purpose and candor, invites (not cajoles) others to listen to her story.....All we need to know about Mary Gauthier is what old man Keats shared with us..."Beauty is truth, truth beauty," - that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."

  • Beautiful You. I'm 53 and have been out for many years and you made ME feel better tonight - just in general!

  • Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!!!!!!!! Mary, you can sure tell it like it is.

  • hiv decimated our community, and i'm so reassured that videos such as this will stop another tragedy.

  • Perfect words. This video validates the experience of 'yes it is hard, but you will find your tribe (great word, never used it) and get to the other side'. This is the first of the IGBP vids that actually describes the process, that visualises a journey and a light at the end of the tunnel to the other side. There is anend to this crap.

The couplet "sometimes you gotta do..." delivered straight down the camera, was spine tingling.

  • Bravo!!

    And thank you both.

  • Tania thanks to ou too. :D

  • This is wonderful!! Thank you Mary
