  • White people....

  • is it a coincidence that jeff just covered the black eyed peas?

  • wud it be possible for somebody to name in sequence the tracks played on this clip. thanks

  • @trueblue44chelsea Just do yourself a favor, and get the albums "Being There", "Summer Teeth", "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" & "Sky Blue Sky". Listen to the WHOLE Album. They are made to be listened to as entire pieces. Wilco is the best band over the last 12 years.

  • @harwicke why omit their best album? wtf?

  • @saltemann Summerteeth.

  • The 50% that aren't in the know are missing out!

  • Woohoo posted on my Birthday.

  • Wilco are AMAZING!! JEFF TWEEDY is Brilliant and i am so glad to have heard about them!! Can't stop listening

WILCO FOREVER and EVER I FEEL it every song WOW!!

  • wilco forever

  • FUCKING IN LOVE WITH WILCO!

  • Cissy Strut by The Meters :)

  • you can tell the poor guy is uncomfortable with that type of woman in an interview. heck, i was annoyed with her.

  • Jay Farrar is somewhere out there going, "Damn you! Damn you!"

  • @JEdgarGroover Is he from Uncle Tupelo?

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • Who else thinks the fans of Tweedy's children will be watching this in 10-20 years?

  • this host (and/or his writers) are dick sandwich(s)

  • i hate it here.

  • Terrible story. Wilco has been huge since the 90's. Rolling Stone gave them one of th best albums of 90's.

  • Tweedy should have turned down this interview. What a bunch of dumbed down, homogonized, reporting for boring reality tv show watching jabronies!

  • This so encouraging. Listen to WILCO damn it!

  • amen! The hardest part about the story...that I can't covet them as my own anymore. Keep the music comin' Tweedy et al.

  • I gave up on WILCO around time of YHF. Jay Bennett was the coolest ever.

  • Seems like WILCO are making a living and all....but I gave up on em a few albums ago. Jay Bennett was the coolest ever.

  • Good segment on CBS Sunday Morning. Good to see the band getting some acknowledgements. The music on the albums is unique and very satisfying.

  • this was when i first heard of wilco, and ive loved them ever since. i wish id heard of them earlier, instead of the crap they play on the radio

  • Love how his kid has a Television Marquee Moon album!

  • @2Stardumb You can hear the influence of Marquee Moon in several places on Wilco (The Album). You can also hear the influence of Tim & Neil Finn (Crowded House, Finn Bros.). Tweedy is the coolest!!!

  • @steveguion That he is!

  • lol i go to shcool with his older kid spencer met him today he told me his dad was in a band wilco and i had never heard of it i thought itd be tiny but jeez

  • @laxative126 The biggest "tiny" band in the world! lol

  • at first I thought Jeff was sitting on the stool while black eyed peas song was playing...i was like ohhh shit.....why the fuck would they do that.

  • this is Jeffs band....soooo different then Uncle Tupelo...and i love what UT did.

  • 2:39 total babe on the right

  • Cissy strut

  • No reference to Uncle Tupelo at all?

  • @UncleVRoy No reference to anybody else in the band!

  • it's so funny when people who work for CBS try to understand the music of the independent persuasion.

  • what's the song at 2:12?

  • @bradennn1 either way from sky blue sky.

  • Best band in the world. They just keep on pushing it. Wilco always give you something fresh and new. What more can I say? Rock and roll perfection.

  • Why is any band not on the shitty Top 20 called at "Cult Favorite"?

  • It's good to know that Jeff's kids will most likely be making great music long after Wilco is gone. Let's hope for the sake of music they do.

  • "What's the World Got in Store?" on Being There

  • .•.(☯‿☯)•.¸

  • whats the song at 6:59?

  • btw this airing was on my birthday. how awesome : )

  • Comment removed

  • To Wilco: i would say you're the first band of your kind i have seen; a great band, i mean a *great* band, with little exposure. you are truly alternative rock, and you are purely that because of this type of exposure. if you were huge, i'd feel like i was sharing a band i really like with people i didn't want to.

be happy for what you guys are (i know i am). i would hate to see a blown-up Wilco. to have contrast in today's music world is to have originality, and you are chock full of that.

  • World Cafe gave Wilco great exposure when Being There came out......

  • are they jammin' on "elephants" riff, from "them crooked vultures"??? that's funny!

  • come to Portugal please! xD

  • Wilco is awesome but that reporter is a stone cold fox

  • they had to mention that damn car commercial...oh well. only jeff tweedy would sell a song to volkswagen and then NOT release it as a single or put it on the LP (i think you can get it as one of those i-tunes bonus track deals). he's a promo man's nightmare, and that's why we love him. rock on, jeff.

  • Tweedy's son was holding Television's Marquee Moon on the bus. He's done well.

  • for me, Wilco personifies american music, my god

  • "most of you may not be familiar with the music of wilco" Well no crap! Have you seen American Idol? That's the crap that's promoted as 'good' Sheez!

  • Funny they have a sucky ass song opening up this segment.

  • that kid on the drums is pretty killing for 13

  • What a great band!

  • Rocked?

  • Rocked?

  • Rocked?

  • They ricjed Richmond on monday night. Loved it!

  • these guys are frickin good !

  • hahah 7:35 stoooned

    been there...

  • love it . . . my band mate (from church) is playing drums with Leo Nocentelli from the Meters tonite in like an hour (at Harvelles). you're right, jeffs son is rippin it up. i love co-inky dinks. . . . i got to play in an acid jazz band with Nels in 92, 93, 94 (not a lot of gigs, but enough) . . . another Torrance High muso has been playin in Mavis Staples band a while, just sayin since Tweedy just produced Mavis . . . me, i can't play my way out of a paper bag, . . . . peace wilconians

  • WILCO!!!!!

  • Jeff's son is tearing it up on the drums from that Meters groove... Gotta love 'Cissy Strut'

  • I like his SG

  • ahah I love that black eyed peas was the start haha brutal

  • Saw them two nights ago. Fucking great

  • I love Wilco and can't wait to see them next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Did you see them in Duluth?

  • thats fuckin awsome, thats the dad i will be

  • His kid comes out on the tour bus holding a Television record, awesome!

  • These guys rule :)

  • I love Wilco, but have never seen them live. That will change on 3/22/10 when I get to see them in the Fillmore in Miami Beach! I can't fucking wait!

  • i just saw them for the first time in Missoula, MT the other night. I have been a Tweedy fan since Uncle Tupelo. They blew me away...have fun. By the way check out Uncle Tupelo and Golden Smog if you haven't already...great stuff

  • hottie at 7:35

  • @sunnylab

    Hotter hottie at 2:39

  • whats the song called on 2:27 ?

  • "You Are My Face" off Sky Blue Sky

  • @lucigoosie69

    either way

  • Ive got my tickets for NJ..April baby

  • same

  • what?

  • The worst thing about Wilco are all the smug fart-sniffers that frequent their fan sight viachicago.

  • wilco!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i actually heard them on the radio the other day.. it was sweet

  • Nice little piece on Wilco, they definitely have never gotten teh recognition they deserve. Mainstream is for the byrds

  • teh :)

  • Burn the bowtie sir.

  • They may not get pop radio play, but at work(grocery store) they get more satellite radio play then probably anyone else out there. I sure am glad for that. haha

  • The new public radio music station in my town plays them a lot as well.

  • that was a pretty sweet groove he and his son were workin' on!

  • Was thinking the same thing! Kid's got feeling. Nothing cooler.

  • whats the name of the song at 2:10 ?

  • Either way on the album sky blue sky

  • thanks

  • R.E.M isnt Irish?

  • REM is from Athens, Ga

  • I have a theory, that the best bands from the States have country roots or styles.

Just look at Wilco. And even R.E.M.

    Honest music.

  • Thats not a theory its a fact; Country/blues were the predecessors of rock & roll.

Also, its not just the states, the stones, clapton, cream, etc... got off on blues

  • But a lot of great bands were influenced by jazz as well.

  • WILCO will be remembered long after they're gone.

  • Anyone know the name of the song at 0:01?

    Just kidding.

  • @lapdogwilly1 hahahaha

  • @lapdogwilly1 the meters

  • I know I'm being a bit anal here, but I couldn't help but notice that they showed the covers of all their releases in chronological order but for some reason put "a ghost is born" in front of "YHF". Ooops.

  • haha, do something with that observant mind of yours yoda.

  • at 6:54 i think its what's the world got in store if not its one of the songs on being there

  • correct

  • does anyone know the song at 6:54?

  • It's "What's the Wolrd Got In Store" off of Being There

  • Last song on the first half of Being There -- my favorite album of theirs.

  • "the little band that could?"

what a lame line/cliche... sorry Tweedy had to endure her....

  • I agree with you 100 percent. When she said that, I cringed.

The little band that could....what? If she is saying "...could finally meet their potential", then she is a bit misinformed. Jeff Tweedy met his potential when he 1st started out in music, with Uncle Tupelo, 22 years ago. Other than that, it's just a CBS interview and I'm being maniacal.

  • i think we should relax and be glad that tweedy and co. are growing, no?

  • it,s a Meters song

  • playing Cissy Strut with his kid!!! nice

  • This reporter sucks.

  • Deadhead, what a mind blowingly stupid thing to say. Well done.

  • wilco kicks ass!!

  • look at the girl at 2:39...all the good lookin girls love wilco :)

  • It's an Uncle Tupelo song called: Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down. Tweedy was in that band before Wilco.

  • whats the song at 6:25?

  • That's "Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down" by Uncle Tupelo

  • cool thanks man:)

  • I think it's an old traditional song, not an Uncle Tupelo composition.

  • I firmly agree that Wilco should be held up there alongside the greats. They are contemproary and exciting, but still carry the torch of classic music. I love having grown with Jeff Tweedy through his musical progressions. And I can't wait to see them in their home-city in a few days!

  • SWeeetttt I went too the show was sooo good!

  • Wilco are my favourite band. I don't know why. None of the other stuff I listen to sounds anything like them. I love pop/rock, and that sure ain't Wilco.

  • This was about Jeff Tweedy...the true lyrical genious of Wilco.

  • Son Volt who?

  • Outtasite Outtamind got radio play.

  • I think they live in the city of Chicago, and not suburban Chicago.

Wilco...I love you baby. (the lyric)

  • Thank God for Wilco!

  • Cool piece, but not a single mention of the rest of the band?

  • If they mentioned the rest of the band it would make your tv explode form all the amazingness

  • Arguably the most important band in the world today

  • Jeff and his son jamming on Cissy Strut is so awesome in so many ways

  • I'm surprised they didn't mention the documentary that was made about them. That's kind of a big deal.
