i doubt it since the japanese don't really have a navy and what they do have are vessels carrying defensive armaments. Also since the waters where the japanese so called research vessels are Australian Whale Sanctuary any japanese "warship" entering it under orders to harm/destory or threaten any vessel in it would be classed as a act of aggression against Australia. The Australian navy doesn't need to face off the japanese cause of a little charter the japanese were forced to sign after WW2 that points out that if japan does any acts of aggression against any ally country they will be in deep shit not only with that country but with America and it's allies. It's an interesting point and, in fairness, one the Sea Shepherd crew would ironically agree with. They're vegans and won't eat any meat, period. The distinction I would make, though, is that many whale species are endangered and can't be grown and farmed the way cows, pigs and chickens can. Whether that's humane or not is a separate question; whether it is more sustainable, however, is clear.

But still, fighting killers is bound to be a dangerous business. And I certainly doubt the threat of stink bombs keeps any ships from doing what they're doing.
I'm sure if one of these ships got seriously hit a lot of these guys might think twice about entering certain waters.

Also since the waters where the japanese so called research vessels are Australian Whale Sanctuary any japanese "warship" entering it under orders to harm/destory or threaten any vessel in it would be classed as a act of aggression against Australia. It's an interesting point and, in fairness, one the Sea Shepherd crew would ironically agree with. They're vegans and won't eat any meat, period. The distinction I would make, though, is that many whale species are endangered and can't be grown and farmed the way cows, pigs and chickens can. Whether that's humane or not is a separate question; whether it is more sustainable, however, is clear.

obviously you are not a marksmen and have no time handling weapons or being at sea with a ignorant comment like that. there was a day when they said you cant make a shot from a 1000 yards in high wind. well were doing that and much much more. they were aiming for his head and it hit him in the chest. sounds feasible to your statement. I will agree the sea shephard is on some bs with there 20 second videos. but as far as success is nil. nothing is impossible.

I've shot moving targets before using just a .22 long rifle. Doesn't take a military grade sniper to cap something- espically something as big as a human being.

Actually, Maritime laws EXPLAINS WHICH SHIP WOULD HAvE RIGHT-oF-WAY IN ANY SITUATION! Guess what? the reason that the sea shepherds don't get arrested is because they know EXACTLY how to interact with the whaling ships and still make it the whaling ships fault if a wreck occurs.
