Because there isnt one close to the calibre of this. The '80s was the golden age of sitcoms (at least in my generation)...and 'The Golden Girls' led the way. They dont make them like this anymore. It still holds up. Absolutely love it...

Adding on to the previous comment... a lot of gay men see shades of themselves in the way the women interacted with each other. But most importantly, the writing and acting were hilarious and brilliant.

I love that Golden Girls really dealt with real human issues that people were really struggling with. With the gay issue, I can't think of a much more poignant episode than the one were Blanche has to deal with her gay brother. You can tell how torn up she was and hurt on the inside. But you also see things from his perspective as well. Fantastic writing and fantastic acting, and always hilarious yet moving at times...
