I like all of them, but man, every time Jeff Leyton comes up, I'm not paying attention and I always end up clicking back to the page madly going "WHO IS THAT!?" XD
At 1:22 whered u get the pic of Canada he looks bad ass o and this song is from the greatest musical of all time it is the longest running musical of all time and it being in multiple lingual is awesome
Jeff Layton's section roughly translated into Irish: An tháthóidh sibh inár gcrosáid? Cé a bheith ina shesamh liom? (Will you join in our crusade? Who will stand with me?)
OMG This is when all the Jon Val Jon's from around the world sang at the 25th anniversary concert. :D I have the old VHS of it. XD I always loved this part of the video.
Mein Gott... the Australian guy had a terrific voice... but Jeff Leyton... his voice is so beautiful... and the Norwegian man had a rather nice voice, and I don't even speak Norwegian... though I guess you really don't have to speak a language to determine the timber of a voice... but getting back to Jeff Leyton; I thought Gaelic was the national language of Ireland, why is he singing in English?
@MKDSzebra3 Gaelic is actually a separate language. It's more of ancient language, though, so most people use English in for daily business in Ireland and Scotland.
Irish Gaelic is the official language of Ireland, it is completely unrelated to English (and therefore is NOT a dialect of English) since it's a Celtic language like Welsh, Breton and Scottish Gaelic. (so you could say irish and scottish gaelic are dialects of gaelic)
This having been said, very few Irish people actually speak Gaelic, they just speak English, just like Welsh and Scottish people, or like how Breton people all speak French and not Breton.
@Matthy63 OH!! Thank you so much! I had a feeling that Scottish Gaelic was a language/dialect; but really, thank you for taking the time to tell me the right answer! :)
@thefearlessT Many Irish people don't speak Gaelic anymore. Very few people actully speak it fluently anymore; mostly everyone in Ireland speaks English. :)
@thefearlessT because irish isn't the most widely spoken language in ireland, english is. only about 20 % of the population speak it daily. and i agree Jeff Leyton is one BAMF
@otakutigergurl Thanks :)... but if Gaelic is a dead language, then what exactly is "Irish"? I know it's a language... is it just like modern-day Gaelic?
@thefearlessT google translate calls it Irish, but it's pure Gaelic. There is no "modern day" version sadly. :( Most of Ireland speaks English but with their own flare to it
@thefearlessT Technically, Ireland has two official languages, English and Irish (There's also Scots Gaelic and Manx, so it's more proper to say Irish.) He most likely isn't singing in Irish because the language has been dying out, so most areas there use English. But I agree, Jeff Leyton has an absolutely gorgeous voice.
@thefearlessT Gaelic isn't spoken as much in Ireland any more. It's nearly a dead language, though it's not as close as Scots Gaelic is to disappearing.
@EbeAndZero I think it's from photobucket, but it's not on there anymore...DX Try zerochan. It probably has it. Just type 'hetalia hungary' into the search box and began you search!!!!
O.O the Irish singer has LUNGS! He was definately my favorite of the English ones, Iggy's coming in close second, then America, then Canada... that guy was really nasally >.<
@MKDSzebra3 :3 *fail* thank you for telling me; I saw the play in London a while ago and I don't really remember it... but I know I have that original cast recording somewhere...
Just look that up, and you'll see the live performance of this song! It's really cool! Everyone has the flags of their own country and everything.
And this is a site with the live video, as well as downloads for the full other language versions of the song, including some that weren't in this video. You just have to scroll down the comments for a bit and you'll see all the urls. Enjoy! : D
If the Friends of the ABC were to met France in those times, what would they think of him then? Would they fight courageously in the barricades or simply become cynical people thinking that France is doomed?
:O I was watching my old vhs of this performance and was like, "Oh man! This would make an epic Hetalia video." ....You beat me to it. xD Love it, though!
@awkwardturkey because the audio was taken from a video and they just had it set where some languages had more screen time than others(I not really sure but that's what I think)
Well, I really liked it. I will be forever amused that you treated every bastardization of the English language as it's own language outright. XD That made my day.
Would've liked to see some other languages represented, but the the win from my previous observation can not be negated so easily.
@AmeOokamiTsuki Thank you for the compliment...lol. Well the reason there aren't any other languages is because I got this audio from a video where the song was actually sung 'multilanguage style' like that(that's why the audio flew together so well XD ), and those were the only languages they had. Maybe those were the only countries doing Les Miz productions at the time. I think the reason they had alot of English versions was so the audience would know what part of the song they were on.
this song is one of my favorite. multilanguage version of les miserables + this anime = pure win!
btw, the japanese part was sung by the chairman from the show called 'iron chef.' I watched this 10th anniversary show on TV, and I bought the video <3
