@thejon128 doesn't surprise me. apple's new OS doesn't support it either. That's what happens when computers get old. Good thing I bought a new mac mini
@lucaslanddotcom Yeah, I don't really have to worry about things like that either. I've got my MacBook for games. It just annoys me a little since WoW was going to be one of the games I'd be playing on my Power Mac G5 that I'm getting for Christmas.
@thejon128 you could still play at least the first 2 expansions. You could build up your toon to lvl 70 and stay there and make it a "twink". you would them dominate all the bg's in that lvl
@lucaslanddotcom looks like now it doesn't want to connect without an update...and no update w/o Intel, so the PowerPC guys are pretty much screwed as far as WoW goes.
all computers get old and obsolete anyway. I don't even use this imac any more. You can pick up an old intel imac for really cheap. I ended up buying a new mac mini which isnt expensive and it works great
Ack. Cut and pasted the wrong thing. I meant to ask if performance was decent in crowded areas. I can pick one of these old iMacs up for cheap and will do so if it's useable...
i dont really like imacs they arent really good for gaming and thats all i use my comp for pretty much i mean i have 12 gigs of ram in my comp now and run ati crossfire graphics and get 250 to 300 fps in wow i dont think an imac can do that
If you wanted to get down to the nitty grittyness of a mac, they can. A Mac Pro could easily do that, they can get up to 12 gigs of DDR3 RAM and support the best HD graphics cards out there. You can also run Bootcamp full screen and run games normally only playable on Windows on your mac.
the newest iMac can get up to 16GB's of DDR3 RAM (4 x 4GB'S) so think how wow would run on tht baby, sweet as candy xD, i know mine came with 4GB's (2 x 2GB's) but i haven't yet installed all my wow discs
LOL you wasteed your money on extra gigabits of RAM that dont ever be used b/c it can only have a certain amount of instructions per Core.. lol dipshit... and 250-300 fps is coomplete bullshit my friend... haha god your an idiot.
I wish I had my friend's G5 iMac 24", the graphics look so good even not on highest, because of the 1920x1200 resolution and the colors are really good
my laptop with much better specs than his iMac plays WoW on highish settings but doesn't still look that great, but playing on my gaming PC helps alot but the colors and rez aren't still as high, i need to replace that CRT . . .
why does blizzard fking discontinue support for ppc macs because of graphics update issues just buy a new fucking graphics card jeeze
Mooseguy15 4 months ago
whats the fps on this mac? i am getting the new mac g5 looks te same as that. does it run wow good?
HTBairsoft007 7 months ago
No more WoW on PowerPC. Blizzard thinks that PPC Macs struggle to run WoW so they cut off support for it.

I had Wow running on a G3 iBook one time. Only got 3-4 fps in unpopulated areas. I didn't dare try it inside any major city.

How would WoW run sweet as candy having 16GB of ram? It would probably run exactly the same as having only 4GB of ram.
entrailsgalore 1 year ago
@PheonixRS Lol, 3gb of DDR3 would run faster.
There's alot more to a PC than ram, infact CPU + GPU are the main peices of hardware for gaming performance

how many frames are you getting
y35n00b5 2 years ago
Unfortunately, I think my graphics card is really getting worn. Depending on how many players are in area, I'm getting between 10 - 35 FPS

Um, there never was an iMac G5 with a 24" screen. The 24" model was introduced with the Intel Core 2 Duo series, which was late 2006.

Yes, there was, I'll pm you a link of it.

what do u replace the right click button with?
PlanbBuilTToShred 3 years ago
I use a different mouse. It is called dotmouse by macally. It works great too. It has a left and right button with a scroll wheel in middle.
lucaslanddotcom 3 years ago
the mighty mouse is touch sensitive so it actually does of a right click
DavidsTechShow101 3 years ago
cmd + click is right click, it takes a while to get used to in WOW!!
