4:38 til the end is some of most gnarly rock ive ever heard. this band total petered out after 1988 and became so dull and forgettable. love shack?? *yawn*
When I heard this as a kid, I picked it up for the novelty and silliness in the lyrics. Then i listened closer to the guitars and drums. What a frikkin groove! Wish I could have been there though I was 17 and in Birminham at the time! Thanks so much. I am gonna make a playlist out of your work
What an Awesome clip. I get shivers watching this. I remember the first time I heard this song, it changed my life. I threw my Led Zeppelin records in the trash. Thank you for posting this. Rock on my friend..........
incredible video/performance... not sure if Cindy and Kate were able to hear themselves; they're comically out of tune most of the time! But what energy!
First JR HIGH Dance in 1985...Rock Lobster came on..I'll never forget it!! DOWN DOWN DOWN....laying on the gym floor doing the rock lobster!! Classic Memories of my Youth!
Thank you very much for uploading this amazing performance. I can not believe the energy they had there. wOw! Great band, great live and great music! THANK YOU!!!
I remember my friends and I didn't take them seriously although the music was catchy. Most people considered them a gimmick along with other bands like Devo. I think it's because they had a unique sound with crazy lyrics and videos. It was an interesting time in music with disco ending and mainstream rock getting boring. This band was something different and musically better than what most people gave them credit for.
We took this record overseas with us,it became popular and was crazy to see orientals cover the music, eveybody just danced to this and had a good time,no one cared how they looked dancing,I was somewhere inbetween, rock, punk, new wave and G-d knows what else, yea,we thought they were a gag at 1st but we loved them!
Speaking of Talking Heads, There was also XTC. In 1979 they were still a bit like a Punk band with their Drums & Wires album but by the next year they got to be more of a thinking man's band with their "Black Sea" Album. great band once you get into them. There must have been many unique bands at this time.
Did you notice the improved sound and picture quality? I finally acquired the equipment, software and skills to produce a worthy edit. Makes for a rockin' DVD. Gonna show it the opening night of AthFest, Athens' music and art festival.

I wish they didn't go completely mainstream, but instead stayed quirky and progressive in the Mr.Bungle and The Residents type of direction.

These are great videos. Watching all these it makes me think that maybe Atlanta was once a hip town and not the cesspool it is today.

Tell me more, I'm a big B-52's fan and would like to know what people's opinions on them were when their first two albums were relatively new.
