I have always thought his older shit was better. I can still see his lyrical ability in his songs but his old flow was raw. His new stuff has more meaning in it with less punchlines and is not as crazy and sick. I still appreciate what he's doing. He still keeps it real unlike many other artists.

@ilshwak I'm sorry, but no. Eminem has more punchlines in his music then he EVER has before- if anything it's reminiscent of his Infinite album.  Eminem was never about punchlines. He was about delivery, his flow changed and matched each new beat perfectly, and sheer rhyming ability. He could rhymed 8 syllables in a row for 10 lines, and he had a passionate anger that made you want to listen to every word.

But he was never Mr. Punchline, post Infinite, pre-Recovery. He deserves major credit for trying to leave his "I'm fucked up and tortured" image and try to simply impress the world with concise wordplay. I'm telling you, now it's like every other line he has a punchline that makes you rewind 10 times just to get it. In some of his songs recently he's unleashed some of the most intricate metaphors of his whole career.
