No its really not that loud. In fact is quiet when comparing to the DA20 or DA40. Its easy and a joy to fly. Great way to start training for twins. However I think there are other twins that are also nice. Senecca, Barron, Aerostar, Beech 18, and maybe the C310 all come to mind.
@anytimeradio I fly the IO-360 varient, and yes its rather loud, but not obnoxious. As long as you have a good headset you are fine. They had to ditch alot of sound dampening to save weight. The L360 conversion is really a whole nother animal! More power, but TWICE the fuel consumption, no FADEC, more levers, no auto feathering system, but over a great plane...
@guitarpilot1 this is an ok cover of the Smiths "how soon is now". There are way worse covers out there. Check out Tatu and plug your ears because its a awful cover.
@tobiasbs The 42 was never designed for the lighter engines, it was designed to have the heavier diesels until Thielert went belly up, then Diamond went scrambling. While the avgas engines perform "better" than either of the diesel engines, there are more capable aircraft out there using avgas. The uniqueness of the 42, and the 42ng is of the fuel burn between both of the diesel engines. I like where Diamond's head is at, and I'd really like to see what they can come up with in future.
The cover of the song was by MSU (Music Sounds Unlimited) Tatu also did a version with female vocals, which is pretty good. I thought it matched this DA42 flight pretty well...good choice in both music and plane!!
Sorry but you are completely wrong about the group. It is love spit love doing the remake. It was on "the craft" soundtrack. Not as good as the Smith's orginal but good nonetheless. Also that group Tatu sounds like chipmunks singing.
Is this airplane loud? Lots of cabin noise?

Someone actually had the nerve to cover Morissey? The Smiths do this song true justice. Nice vid. Keep flying.

The new Avgas ones destroy the diesal ones. So much power plus they have prop and mixture control so pilots actually have to earn their multis lol

I have not flown the DA42 with the IO-360's. Sounds cool but fuel costs might be a factor over the JetA diesel type. ?

@izanti It burns fuel like a mother and has horrible CG problem though. They gotta do something about that

So when you killed the right engine..Do you feather, add left rudder and aileron?Just curious as to how this is done in twins.

The Smiths- How soon is now.

I think the singer is from the Psychedelic Furs. The song is probably correct but it doesn't sound like The Smiths.

Nice flight, that N number is only one digit lower than my school's twinstar. Must of recieved them around the same time.

agreed, the only problem was footage was shot with a cheap digital still camera and was not patched into the intercom..

Would have been more helpful to hear the dialog vs. the music
