Personally I hope those lightning things are not in the game. I like the original more realistic fighting style. (Of course, this is my own opinion. There will be others that will like that.) Having said that, I can't wait for them to make this game. It is way overdue.

The things I loved most about Shenmue were being able to be absorbed into the amazingly realised gameworld of the Japanese districts (Shenmue), then chinese provinces in no. 2 and also of course, the brilliant narrative that drives you through the game. With an MMORPG, you can't enjoy those three things so singlemindedly - it's just another bout of level-grinding :(

Shenmue 1 was one chapter 2 was skipped ut was in the ship thats a chapter in it self you can read what happen in the manga you unlock in the xbox version you get to see picks and stuff Chai comes back on the ship! ryo fights him and chai kidnaps the little girl that thanks you for helping her on the ship (remember the one with the little red dress and her mom) shenmue 2 was chapters 3 - 6. till 7-16

i loved shenmue 1 & 2...unfortunately i dont think there will ever be a third game. would be nice if they ported the first 2 games to a next gen console and released the third installment all at the same time, so you could finally play all three games on one system and be able to keep the toy collectibles etc. even after you begin the next game

Ok you don't need lightning or any other of the mystical stuff. Keep it like the regular Shenmue. Also the character let them be in the future where the entire incident with the Chiyomen is over. This story is about you and your character. Have dojos accessible so your character can make his own style.
Honestly, he probably REALLY wants to finish it. The reality however, was that Shenmue still holds the title for most expensive game to make, and it was a commercial flop. You know, Shenmue 2 had a weird ending with that floating sword. But when you think about it there has to be significance to the two mirrors, the star constellation references, the Chinese myths, and Shenhua's prophecy. I think the key to understanding the mystery is found in the philosophy of the martial arts which the plot revolves around. Sega should be commended by the gaming community for Shenmue's unique and refreshing game concept and design.

While I completely understand that they want to bring all sorts of innovation to this series, they should do either one of two things regarding the battle system: Leave it the same as the console games, or work on it more.

Its lost the Shenmue feel and brought magic in. I believe Shenmue should never use magic, it never needed it. And the end of Shenmue II was pathetic with the sword and that. We don't need to cast fireballs, this isn't Final Fantasy.

They are making it and last time I check with Sega they have of the county they are going to use plus showed all the characters you can pick from as well as fighting moves with and without weapons and it might be for Xbox 360 if not only for PC and I bet you might need Windows Vista.

ha yes you'll see, it won't happen, i'm sorry but there is a alot of odds they wont make a game, maybe a comic to end it all, but since shenmue online totaly fucked up, they gave up on it. i think you won't see shenmue again. and they won't be working on shenmue anytime soon, you really think they are going to spent alot of money on another game when they have just lost ALOT of money on shenmue online? ha you have high hopes.

Maybe they're developing this game to open up parts in the shenmue series that we didnt know about like stuff ryo didnt do but others did and then when this goes out on sale would hopefully get shenmue fans buying it to fund project development for Shenmue 3. :S

To think that they spent more money and time on This, instead of putting this effort towards Shenmue 3. Every disappointment that Sega and Yu Suzuki have gone through every investment that turned out bad always pushes Shenmue 3 further away from development. You know, Shenmue 2 had a weird ending with that floating sword. But when you think about it there has to be significance to the two mirrors, the star constellation references, the Chinese myths, and Shenhua's prophecy. I think the key to understanding the mystery is found in the philosophy of the martial arts which the plot revolves around. Sega should be commended by the gaming community for Shenmue's unique and refreshing game concept and design.

Shenmue was one of my favorites... but one thing is that, there were hundreds of combat moves but not enough fighting scenes to use them at. I hope in shenmue 3, he could beat up anyone he wants, like in GTA, except helpless old people and women. now that would be great.

Magic and stuff is okay, but the implementation sucked. I mean come on, Shenmue III is going to have Chi You, the mirrors are obviously quite mystical...it's leading to it eventually, anyway.

What the fuck is this cheesy shit SEGA is producing? The free battle system looks WORSE than in Shenmue II (and the free battle system in Shenmue II was bad).
This is why SEGA was forced to pull out of the console market. How does SEGA expect to make profits off of their games if they don't PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT CONSUMERS WANT. What Shenmue fans want is the continuation of the main series with Shenmue III, not this shit!!!

While I completely understand that they want to bring all sorts of innovation to this series, they should do either one of two things regarding the battle system: Leave it the same as the console games, or work on it more.
As it stands, it's pretty sloppy.
