My daughter loves to read (She started reading spontaneously when she 4.) so we wanted a literature based curriculum. We also wanted one that had a Christian world view and had a flexible schedule. Friends of mine who have tried it complained that it was too much reading, but their children did not read so the parents were doing all the reading. We all enjoy reading and actually save that part for the end of the school day, because that is the best part.
Is this your first year using Sonlight? If not, how do you like it?? Pro and cons?? My son is going to be turning 4 and i'm very interested in Sonlight and was contemplating on purchasing P4/5... Your honest opinion would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)
This will be our 3rd year using Sonlight. We love it!
The first thing I read about how to homeschool was "The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling" by Debra Bell (she has a website!). Using that book I learned my daughter is a "Conceptual-Global Learner", which mean if it doesn't somehow relate to her and what she wants to do, she is not interested. I knew if I threw a public-school-sort of curriculum (like A. Beka) at her she would balk.
