I like this song. One of George's gems. How nice to hear the Beatles jamming. I like your video, too. The video images really support and go well with the tune. Thank you for the post.
In Jackie Lomax's version, you can faintly hear George singing in the background. Someone should try to take Jackie's vocals out and just have George.
@MichalFokt There's a (I assume it to be) "fan mix" on YouTube that does precisely that. Of course it would be awesome to hear it as combined professionally by Giles & George Martin. In the meantime, here's the exact title of the vid:
I've considered myself a huge Beatles fan for aprox ten years. I've seen their movies, listened to their music, seen documentaries, read books, and much more. But never have I heard this song before. Not even heard about it.
i wish somebody would combine the Lomax track with George's demo vocal. Maybe there's even a better George vox of this song lurking around. The Lomax track IS the Beatles (including Clapton on lead, a la "While My Guitar Gently Weeps")
when u listen to the original version on jackie lomax's first album...and how incredible he did it... when the album came out on apple... and ur read all the musicians who played on jackie's songs... u had to be alive then,,, it was literally like the beatles had done a brand new album. every song was fantastic...and the quality superb. hearing this newly found gem...brings a tear to me eye... what hath gone my heart flutters for want.
I love this song! It reminds me a bit of Donovan's "Sunshine Superman"
If it was written around the time of the White Album that means it was probably written during their trip to India where Donovan was there too so maybe it really was inspired by it!
"Isnt it a pity and a shame" how George had so many good songs that never made it onto Beatles albums?!
I don't care much for "Not Guilty" and don't think it was that much of a loss to "The White Album" but THIS would've been great on the album! This AND "Savoy Truffle?" Oh that would have been TOO MUCH (no pun intended).
I agree. But at the same time, the Jackie Lomax version is great. It's practically The Beatles with Eric Clapton and Nicky Hopkins, and Lomax singing instead of George.
dave, what is hard to understand? John & Paul were egonmaniacs, no matter how good a song by George was, they always elbowed him out ( apart from the few songs we know). thansk Berherbi
This is SOOO not true. George would tell you that John and Paul supported and encouraged his work. His only drawback was his on lack of confidence, which John and Paul helped imrprove.
Sure, it's a good song. But it is not dazzling like most of the stuff on the White Album. Been wanting to hear this for a long time, but now I understand why it and "Not Guilty" were left off. Obviously Harrison knew it too, which is why he gave it to Jackie Lomax.
I like it, and the other "raw" Harrisons here (Circles, Dark horse) much better than anything I've heard of his later work. Polishing makes his work too glib for me, I'm afraid.
This was recorded at Goerge's House in Esher Surrey

Without George Martin, the Beatles were a garage band.

How there could be a place for Lennon's "Revolution #9" sh*t and no "Sour Milk Sea" on a White Album?

This has Clapton, Harrison and McCartney on it, and I don't think the other Beatles were on it.

Huh, this sound much clearer than usual, could be combined with the music of Jackie Lomax released version and create good song :-)

George had the highest pitched voice of them all, he wouldn't seem like it though if you took a glance at him

I could've done with one less Paul show tune re-write in order to hear a polished Beatles version of this song on the white album.
