  • mute after 5 seconds

  • Wooww

  • Yes ,very nice. And at the end of this sound very stresses the entire experiment

I wonder how many you have a sodium .

  • Thumbs up if you had to watch this video muted

  • did NoAgenda bring anybody here?

  • 楽しそう(^o^)

    それにしてもナトリウムは本当に不安定な個体ですね(゚Д゚)

  • thee's always the guy who's like " THA WAS AAWSOME''..."I heard it in my head before he tell''

  • xD THIS IS COOL.

  • Dude.. get rid of the flip flops. :-P

  • Slo-mo = Cows.

  • lol thats not as bad as what happened when this guy in my class that accidently dropped a chunk of potassium in the dirty test tube bucket (that was full of water) today O.o

we need a new chemistry lab :S

  • the sounds of the human race before talking, CAVE MEN! that or everyones on acid, GAYERS!

  • give them a ritalin or somthing

  • You guys sound like zombie cows in slowmo lol

  • lol

  • oh, wenzel

  • Not true. Any size can explode. It may take longer.

  • roffffffll, slow motion.!

your all like, yay sodium ! ahhaha

  • burn

  • My science teacher said how reactive this stuff is. We can't have it at school...not even if we take it out to the baseball field.

  • sucks for you, today we just did that out back of the classroom. twice. was really awesome

  • my grandfather once took a 6" by 1" and 1" thick block of this and threw it into a creek :)

  • Those assholes need to shut up.

  • lol

  • We did that in class but the teacher didn't expect it to blow up XD it was only 1/3 of the size of an eraser but make a mess everywhere XD

  • Your teacher is stupid as hell. Everyone knows sodium reacts with water and explodes.

  • and she's a bitch too XD

  • stupid people around!!!

  • Didn't Don Herbert aka Mr. Wizard kill someone doing this :)

  • the teacer or w/e is like im young again !:D

  • WTF is this I want those kids to shutup!

  • They are like a bunch of monkeys, screaming because they get their banana lunch served at the zoo.

  • We did that in my class but the teacher wasn't involved and we put to much Na in the beaker and I'm missing a eyebrow.

  • im always missing hair on my body from something stupid

  • GOGGLES! Woooooo! woooooo! wooooo! Wooooo....

    Crazy...

  • hahaha americans are so fucked up

  • I'm inclined to agree. Wooooo wooooo woooooo

  • are u guys screaming like that in the us :O at a chemestry lesson ? LOL, sounds like 3yrs old

  • 1 word : ANNOYING

  • is this how they laugh woop woop woop woop!!woop woop woop hehehehehehe like sponge bob laughs

  • THIS IS why i didn't take regular chem. stupid idiots scream at everything.

in honors chem we get to do formualas and funstuff like that quietly with no white trash screaming

  • This was at lunch. This was for the whole school. Class wasn't anything like this, believe me.

  • I take it you are racist then

  • no im classist.

i hate stupid people because im one of teh smarter people. i call stupid white people trash and smart white people by their name. i call stupid black people gangsta and smart black people real africans.

  • well at least you have thought about it- just that it is very easy to define people before you have even given them a chance- but sounds like you just don't like dumb people. Fair enough. As a teacher I just am amazed that those kids were allowed to behave like that. Especially during a dangerous procedure.

  • Wow, as a student, I'm surprised you're being such a tight ass. This wasn't really that dangerous, a circumference was kept around the procedure, and nobody was misbehaving. They were just yelling. A lot. Get over it, and maybe chill out a little.

  • I can only say standards must be very different between England and the US- I would be sacked for allowing a class who are clearly out of control to even watch a demo with sodium.

  • Indeed, I'm sure there's plenty of difference there, but bear in mind that the only thing out of control there was the people's vocal chords. Vocal chords the likes of screaming toddlers.

  • @simpsonstewie fucking smart ass

  • @simpsonstewie you're an idiot

  • okok, there stupid kids at the school or wat?

  • No, we're generally smart. This is what the #2 public elite high school in the nation looks like.

  • what a mob of wankers

  • Agreed.

  • that was so awesome.

  • wow...i want to shoot everyone in that video...so fucking annoying

  • then i will put sodium in there head and make sure there fucking dead 4 ya mate

  • Make them fucking swallow sodium caps.

    Annoying lil' shits.

  • Ohhhhhh, woooooo, ughhhhh. etc. STFU!!!

  • Dude, this kind of thing never happens at school... it was exciting!

  • dam zoo

  • Why is everybody making those stupid noises?

  • Did you try to record a widescreen video? Well it isn't working. The height of the screen is taller than it should.

  • Yeah, I had just gotten the camera, and didn't really know its functions all too well. Better at it now.

  • Dude, you just saw a sodium violently explode in water. Who gives a crap about the fact that it's a widescreen video. Get over it.

  • I did this experiment in my Chemistry class at the beginning of the month, it was so cool^^ Except we had more sodium (like a bar thing of it), and a giant bucket of water, and when my teacher threw it in there, you could her that fizzing noise for a moment, and then it paused for a slight second, and exploded OwO, and you can even see fire from it, and it sounds just like a gunshot. I heard that it scared a few of the students in the nearby classes XD

  • oh man i wish we coulda done that in our chemistry classes! the whole cheering and screaming in the background was just as good! hee hee! awesome dudes!

  • Why the hell would you decide to put Phosphorus on your skin. That's just plain stupid

  • try phosphorus on your skin

  • aha sounds like cows moooing in the background when they rewind it.

  • yea lol :D

  • hahahaha all of the guys r screaming in the back ground!!!

  • haha this guy reminds me of my dad sad but true i grew up with a science geek for a dad

  • ahahaha omg this vid is so funny"ah...ah...ah...ah..ah" lmao

  • lol, the people in the background are rediculous

  • it's fun to watch, but still ridiculously irresponsible. i study and work in a lab, stuff like that can easily get somebody seriously wounded or worse. i know people who lost bodyparts due to experiments in which they miscalculated the outcome/result.

somebody should pay for this. it's basically the teachers fault, but if i had to choose, i'd take the screaming biatch.

  • Your not going to blow off your arm or leg from dropping a small amount of sodium in water. And becuase you know everything and think your so smart cause you work in a lab should know that.

  • Yeah this teacher actually got fired recently so you're pretty much on the money with the irresponsiblity

  • my science class did this less than a week ago.

i think h put a little too much sodium in--the beaker shattered and theres still sodium-water on the ceiling

  • Yeah, I think you should have just done it outside, it allows for more mistakes than inside. :D

  • well we werent even planning on it exploding, much less it brekaing the whole beaker. no one was wearing any galsses, including the teacher so we're all really lucky no one got hurt

  • that didn't look much like a golf ball size of sodium

lol me and my friend are goin to make a 5 pound brick and drop it in the river

  • lol i need to give a presenatation on the alkali elemnts and i was gonia give a demonstration of this for my class mates

  • I learned this in my class.

  • we did a reaction of sulphiric acid and salt in my science class, it raw carbon, it was pretty sweet.

p.s. who wishes mercury wasnt deadly lol!?

  • Djeez why is everyone screaming all the time? Stupid kids...

  • I had sodium and potassium way back in my high-school days. I used to throw those raw metals in lumps of cubic inches into HYDROCHLORIC ACID. My . . . those spectacular firework displays! I dare you guys play with some of these(!!)

  • High school or preschool? lol

  • Where I can get Sodium?

  • well, you can buy it or make it. to make it just simply melt salt in a metal container and run electricity through it. be careful though the gas it emits is pure chlorine and you will die

  • haha thats how its done but its not that simple hahah

  • rofl. simply melt the damn salt. yeah.

  • 2Na + 2H2O -> 2NaOH + H2

  • how to prepare this;won't u pl. explain?

  • All you need is pure sodium (probably bought), and then you put it in plain old water. Simple enough.

  • thank u adumbration

  • the guys sound like retards

soz if thats offensive but yeh but yeh lol dat was kool tho

  • I think you're talking about the German exchange student.

  • Who the FUCK was moaning?

  • plz mark spam when you see it :/

  • Yeah, forgot that option, my bad.

  • lol did she died by sodium`?

  • ur scholl is dumb xD

  • ahaha they funny :P

  • idiot kids.

  • lol cool teacher

  • Yeah, he basically got sacked at this point due to the fact that he went crazy on the Arab kid in our class. Besides, he sucked 2nd semester. He waas awesome, like this, first semester.

  • Lucky Lol

  • Wish we done that in my school! We only got to see it on a small scale :(

  • Hey, Fat video. That is alot of kidney stones

  • Goddamn teenagers are so fucking stupid and annoying.

  • Hey man, don't disrespect my people. Especially because you named yourself after a Homestar Runner cartoon.

  • You got me on that one. Because of my YouTube name I can't mention how stupid and annoying teens are. I see the logic there.

  • Yeah, and it's pretty much the best logic ever conceived. "Never challenge a Sicilian to a game of wits."

  • so ur saying u werent a teenager @ one time?! lmao ur a fucking idiot. go die.

  • I might just be too stupid to understand this message, b ut to which of us were you referring to.

  • not you bro..the guy that was bitching about teenagers.

  • See what I mean? Case in point. GoPistons89 you're so mentally retarded you can't even spell out simple words. Try paying attention in class and maybe words such as "you're" and "you" won't strain those couple of brain cells struggling to keep your pathetic carcass alive.

  • And, while fhqwghads complains about incorrect grammar that is usually common and accepted on the internet, he makes mistakes himself, such as "GoPistons89(,) you're so mentally retarded". Dude, we're all hypocrites, let's all just stop fighting and take a freakin' chill pill.

  • who cares if i dont put that..you still know what the fuck i meen! cockwod.

  • Anyone who takes the way people communicate as a means to measure their intellect. Read: you type like a fucking retard, therefore you *are* a fucking retard. Retard. In other words, you validated my point that teenagers are lazy idiotic morons for the most part. Good job!

  • Well lets just say the life you lived was with Idiotic Morons, that makes alot of sense since you look at one corner. By the way not all teenagers are stupid like you try to put it.

  • How does it make sense that you called him mentally retarded and that he has to pay attention in class, isen't it either one of them. Yes ofcourse their needs to be one choice other wise it doesn't make sense.

  • Yeah, plus it's a man-made element, and there's either EXTREMELY little on the planet or none at all. Guess where it was made? If you guys want to see an Iron Oxide and Aluminum reaction, check out my other video.

  • Yeah dude, I saw a vid where a guy threw a block of Potassium in an acidic resevoir.

    THAT was crazy.

  • SICK!

  • alkali metals all react similarly in water, that would've been nothing compared to the reaction one could expect from say Francium

  • Well, duh. But then we'd have dead screaming people. and this was done at a school.

  • haha yea. but its a lot easier to obtain lithium or sodium than fancium, wouldnt you say?

  • Yeah, especially because Francium scarcely even exists, and was only made in a lab. Probably in France.

  • umm even if you could obtain Francium, it wouldnt live long and its 100 Times Radioactive then Uranium. just imagine if it did explode in water, the radiation will spread with the explosion. more like a mini-nuke.

  • Yeah, but in terms of radioactivity, uranium is mildly radioactive. I mean, of course, unprocessed uranium. It all depends on the isotope. And you go with the inverse square rule for the radiation spread, and it's not that bad. Not THAT bad. As in there are just worse things...

  • yes i know, uranium isent that strong in radiation, also the isotope differ. but with Francium its Radioactive and Very Reactive , so its both.

  • But if you're talking amall scale like this, it would explode violently yes, but it's being combined with the hydroxide (cause francium in water makes francium hydroxide) and the physical limitations of just how far it can spread, how big the blast can be... maybe an EPA nightmare, but they're paranoid. It wouldn't be nearly as bad as a mini nuke or even as bad as a dirty bomb.

  • well i been noticing that the downer you go on the periodic table such as from lithium to cesium, from under cesium you got Francium and its radioactive, meaning the downer you go on the periodic table the more unstable the atoms are. just like astatine in group 7 of the halogens

  • yes but who wants to use francium risking the strong radiation it emits. its also a liquid metal more like mercury.

  • THAT WAS AWESOME

  • OMFG people do need to shut up...one of them sounded like they were dying...sad.

  • Yeah, seriously. Maybe shoulda thrown the mute button on for that part.

  • Or throw sodium into their mouth for that matter...

  • This is what is referred to as the Jackass Generation: "wow dude, flashy bang stuff, whooo!"

    Still an insteresting experiment.

  • hahahaha!!!! "wow dude, flashy bang stuff, whooo!" GREAT!!!! and you're right too. They probably don't even know why that hapened =]. Good video.

  • Yeah, sodium reacts with water, just as it oxidizes in air, thus is kept in kerosene. At least I know my stuff. but you're right, half of them probably didn't know the reason.

  • you need to tell the people around you to shut up
