wow what a fantastic post.seeing some poor helpless mouse being killed by a snake hasnt got much chance to escape has it.all i can say to the person that posted this film is you must be very macho and full of testorene what was the point of this film, complete and utter crap.
Looks like he got the hang of that pretty quick! Beautiful reptile...I'm hope that's not his cage, I'd be careful of feeding a snake at their everyday home, especially a highly agressive species like a retic
Hi ondre200, could you do a test, put in some razor blades inside the mouse's stomach, and let the snake eat the mouse, what will happen later when the mouse is totally swallowed ?
@imjoedewar You can get retics all over the place. What you need to know is that they may only cost a couple hundred dollars but they can grow to be well over 20 feet long and cost thousands of dollars to care for a year. Housing, feeding, vet visits lead easily into the thousands very quickly. You should NOT own one of these as a pet. They are meant to be owned by people who have years of experience with caring for and handling such huge snakes. For the snake's sake, don't get one.
@imjoedewar Also, retics grow at a crazy rate. This retic is a month old and is already almost 3 feet long. At 1 year they can be over 6 feet. Their life spans are very long and they grow SO fast you will have to change what you feed them and their enclosure almost bimonthly. If you want a snake similar, look into ball pythons which can grow to about 5 feet long. If you want something bigger, maybe a boa constrictor. Ball pythons are a great starter snake. :)
Correction to my last comment, the substrate actually did enter his mouth, this video was uploaded in 2007, if you kept feeding him like this, he is definitely dead by now.
Reticulated Pythons are common in the Philippines, most are hunted for food along with the Sailfin Lizards, and Water Monitors.. hopefully the govt. will help save these snakes from extinction..
a prime example of why you NEVER use wood chips or any loose flooring in the same tank you feed your snake, your an idiot and your snakes going to choke and die.poor thing, other than that its a very nice snake.
Yes, because in the wild God comes down and places each snake in a diamond encrusted container when they eat...
Seriously, their digestive acid can dissolve bone and teeth, a little wood won't hurt them -- as long as it is not cedar which can poison reptiles.
Ideally I'd suggest finely shredded aspen, which they love to burrow in and is completely digestible if they do get any in their mouth... but to each their own.
He says the snake is big and healthy so clearly he is doing something right.
@piercinggod Really... and how do you expect to move a 20 + foot hungry snake into a separate enclosure to feed it??? HA nice try.... they can be fed in their enclosures and should be.
at the first try its like he got a splinter....(im not english so i dont know if i can say it like that) in his mouthsoo maybe that the reason why he did open his mouth often....
