WOW...this goes to show you can find almost ANYTHING on Youtube! LOL I was looking for cause the song had popped into my head, and decided to search just out of curiousity and here it is. I love this tune. And the video with it. For some reason it reminds me of when I was a child and used to go to Ocean Beach Amuesment Park in the 60's. In the 70's, I'd stay up late just to watch this video and listen to the music. Thanks for posting this cool tune.
Many, many mornings for years, I would wake up to this after attempting to watch a movie, then falling asleep...It's amazing that, decades later, a television sign-off could evoke such placid memories...Thank you for the posting...
For some reason, Faure's Pavane was popular theme music in the Bay Area. I can also recall it's being used in a commercial, circa 1970, for the Hanna Boys' Center.
I grew up in the Sunset District..Playland, the Chalet, and those sad windmills in disrepair..(sigh) Thank you for this, I thought I'd never see it again. This sign-off has huge memories attached to it. Faure's music was the perfect choice for the images. The other one that "got to" me was the old KSFO (not the neo-con propaganda station it is now) station ID, the full-length song, I have an EP of it somewhere..need to upload it to YT soon. Again, thanks.
I agree with morykwas....I rmemeber this well and then I would change the channel and turn on the all night movies with Tom Labries from labrie's water bed wherehouse. Ugh! we are getting old
I recognize this song. It's the "Pavone" by Gabriel Faure. In the year 2000, it was adapted for the song "Dream A Dream" by Charlotte Church & Billy Gillman. Wow! We know more about classical music than we think!
Brings back so many memories as a kid growing up in the bay area in the 70s. Beautiful tune. Does anyone know of what song this.

I'll watch this if I can't get to sleep at night. It's so calm, and peaceful.

I remember when they had credits on the film at the end in Lydian bold, rather than the uppercase helvetica used here.

I've always loved KRON's logo.. Could pick them up in my part of South Sacramento via antenna as a kid in the 80's and 90's..

The BEST sign-off music and film . . . ever!
The other great one was on KCBS radio with Ken Akerman.
"Music Till Dawn"
Damn, I miss this quality of entertainment.

oh wow I thought this was a KQED sign off because it's so beautiful, like they did to them. I missed this, thanks.

When Exactly Did KRON-TV 4 Stop Signing Off At Night And Switched To 24 Hour Programming?

Still remember this one from my childhood. Glad somebody was able to find it, even in this admittedly dog-eared form.
BTW, it bears more than a slight resemblance to the movie shown to the dying Edward G. Robinson character in "Soylent Green"!

I remember this very well too. I remember KRON using this sign-off as early as 1981 but I'm sure they used it before then.
