@ 3:21 it would have to suck to man that station on the death star. the dudes are standing on a 2 ft ledge and are 15 ft away from a laser beam that's 10 ft in diameter. they probably don't even get hazard pay.
The sequence starting @ 6:47 has and always will be one of my favorite moments from not just Star Wars but any epic space battle. Just that immense feeling of climax; here in the bowels of the Death Star with a massive battle raging outside, is this ominous and eerie calm chamber. They pick their target and make the shot..... and they're only half-way through! Plus the score by John Williams completely knocks it out of the park.
amazing work with scaled physical models. still rivals cgi of today and will stand forever as the most epic space battle scene ever created. not just because it was done in 1983, but because this is still better than any of the stuff created today.
no gungans and jar jar binks, no droid who is making bad jokes and no cgi effect bomb.... THIS is StarWars, thank you Georg Lucas that you made that before your brainfuck with the Episode 1-3 came
Surviving both Death Star battles, taking point through the Death Star's interior at high speeds and being a general bad ass through the entire series..... Screw wanting to be a Jedi, I want to be Wedge. <_<
B-wings should have attacked the Executor with their much heavier armament to do what they have been exclusively designed for, instead of the mainly anti-interceptor A-wings.
I can accept the fact that the rebels win, but it is how they win i find ridiculous. You can see how few ships the rebels have warping in against how many imperial star destroyers and fighters in 2:13. Come on the empire is a fricken military super power they can't be that incompetent to loss against rebels who are numerically and technologically inferior to them in the battle.
@CrimsonGuard1992 I do find it kinda ridiculous but in the battle of Samar in WW2 a small group of U.S. destroyers, light carriers, and destroyer escorts, held off a Japanese fleet of battleships and heavy cruisers + escort ships and planes, so It could happen and never underestimate the incompetence of people, the worst thing about this movie was the elite of the imperial army being defeated by teddy bears.
@turkey2003 Well the Japanese pretty much had out dated ships. And the Empire usually shold have the advantage as they faced the rebel ships head on and face-to-face. Oh and please don't remind me about those damn Ewoks!!!!! That was absolutely the cheapest good guy victory ever made!!!! Come on the Empire really messed up big time. But if it was really the elite of the Imperial Army that should have been the 501st Legion but in the wiki the 501st battle record does not include Endor.
@CrimsonGuard1992 Actually the Japanese had modern ships in that battle including the Yamato the most powerful battleship ever built by any nation, it is considered one of the greatest military mismatches in naval history, by being aggressive the Americans threw the Japanese off balance. But I figure that not too many ships were animated because of the cost. I somewhat remember the emperor in the movie saying the troops were elite, I assume the empire has other elite units besides the 501st.
@turkey2003 In any case Episodes 4 - 6 are all one sided battles. Even episode 5 the Empire took heavy casualties with the supposed Elite Blizzard Force at the battle of Hoth. The 5 AT-AT's that participated in the battle was part of a much larger walker force. It just so happened the other AT-AT's, walked over thin ice and sank to the bottom. Sure the Empire won but in comparison to the Rebel's Decisive Victory with the destruction of the Death Star 1, the Empire's being a Pyrrhic victory.

Well according to wookiepedia it took much more. "With a combined effort of an entire Rebel flotilla of capital ships the bridge shields were temporarily brought down."
@sabofett No what happened was the fighter bypassed the shield and shot it at point blank range, that's what made it become destroyed. They discussed it during the video that they should take their tactics like that. It's just the TIEs didn't do their job in preventing it from happening.

@STMAswimmer well, they did shoot wedge enough and make him run away in the first death star fight, so he doesn't really "win" that
mnvikingsfan36 4 months ago
@STMAswimmer Well, he splits the AT-AT and second Death Star. Not really integral in the first, at least as the movies portray.
