The Real INTERESTING thing I like to point out is you realize that is that at least 1000's of people out there have eyes..but stiLL NOBODY notices that when they look at a flat wall it actually appears curved to them..they're just looking at such a small section of the large curve at any one time that they never notice it!
Hopefully they'll catch on a teach a bit of this in schools because Even if you don't Use it it Definitely helps you understand when a 3 point drawing is going wacky
DAMN! ..i thought i'd write a book someday showing the EXACT same thing..ugh ..it's either if you're not moving ahead you're standing still..ooor..you snooze you lose i guess : ) lol
yeah I noticed i had a TON of trouble getting the TEACHERS in school to get this!..but the students picked it up pretty quick.
If you count the points along the horizon you will find a north, east, south, west and back to north point.....That is four without the up and down lines which don't go to points.
One and Two point perspective is fine if you just want 90degrees of your world around you but if you want to capture 360 you have to go to at least continuous four point. It doesn't come off cartoon like unless that is how you draw. Curved lines are important and necessary when you are trying to get a larger view.
@dicktermes I was learning about vanishing points and point perspective in this book by an Artist named Rudy De Reyna, and I got stuck on the part where he speaks of drawing 3D cubes using point perspective and vanishing points from above eye level to below eye level. I can't figure out how he makes the cubes appear to go from above eye level to below. Is there a certain way I need to draw them?? Please help
Thank you for this video. It's nice when you can see and hear the person, you sound like a wise and nice teacher. I've been trying to learn advanced perspective for years, but nobody I know can coherently explain anything. This helps a lot!
Note: 5 people sat here for the beginners' class XD
this reminds me of Neji of the anime show Naruto, who can see 360 degrees around himself with the help of his byakugan. he does have a blindspot, but thats another story
Very nice! - I'm learning 1 and 2 point perspective right now, never heard of using 4 point perspective until now - Nice video, and cool technique for drawing!
Actually it has 5 points, tho you could say that the points at the very left and right are each only half. However, the 3rd point of a 3point perspective drawing is not at present here. (the 3rd point would be the Z axis and either located over or under the horizont line.)
It would be cool to build a giant one of these, that people could actually walk around inside of. Sculpture could be placed in the middle, making it both a painting and a gallery.
There are two types of four point perspective I deal with. The first has a point above your head and below your feet. All up and down line project to these and the other two points are just like two point perspective....or you could say a north and east vanishing point. The other 4pt. perspective is like what is going on the youtube. Four Points are like the N-E-S-W directions around you. The up and down directions have no points but run parallel. This creates a cylinder view.
I do not fully understand it I think. I have the feel this is 3 point perspective, but not a regular form of it. The third point you use in third point perspective (far under or above the horizon) can not be found here. However, it is also (of course) unneeded. So than what are your 4 points?
Funny enough I am able to find 4 points on the example on your website (on the page of the 6 point book ;))
It does seem logical to me that this is a good system to capture 360 degree pictures. It is fun to play with different systems....Give it a try.

this is really confusing T_T

It is still only 3 point perspective, because you don't have perspective on the vertical lines. They are just parallel.

Guess you would have to wrap the person all the way around you to have them in this four point perspective.....right?

Very nice type of perspective in drawing and I really think that it would be great in trying to draw
a person in 360 degree.......but I don't know you tell me :D thanks for listening!!

4 point perspective makes everything wavy, better making 1 or 2 point perspective if you don't want to make a cartoon, and it's easier, thumbs up
