I just watched a german tv show that explained how they FAKED the toss:

1. the group was standing about a yard away from the basket. In the beginning, you can see that one of the throwers looks over his shoulder to see the basket. If he had really been standing underneath it, he would have had to look upwards.

2: The net is moving because they fastened a thin line to it, pulling it in just the right moment to make it look like the girl went through.

3: it is possible that they used an editing program to put a picture of a piece of the hoop over the girls body to make it look like she really went through. Since the quality of the video is so bad,it's hard to tell whether they really did that.

They also showed a group of asian circus artists (apparently they were really good) that tried doing the trick with styrofoam hoops and almost every time, the hoops broke. Doing that with metal hoops would break your bones!
