  • I don't know what happened to my copy of this.

I never got rid of it, but I can't find it anywhere... Just like Glover for the N64 :(

  • Fuckkkin ahhh, I just remember this game...danm

  • The game which inspired my pseudonyme (and avatar also) around 12 years ago :') I used to let this song play in my bedroom since I hadn't a proper sound system. I did that again on my computer a bit later when I was playing at it on an emulator. For the record, at this time I though the drink was Zup instead of 7up. Anyway, the ad worked perfectly on me !

  • These were some of the best console graphics around at the time.

  • My childhood! B)

  • When I waa a kid...

  • Oh man! I used to play this over at my friends house all the time when I was a kid...

  • And I was drinking a 7up while watching this.

  • cc liscence! PLEASE!

  • I still remember the cheat to find the Cool Spot every level! When the level starts, pause, up, down, left, right, a, b, c, b, a, c ... ta daaa .. lol, can beat the game with that.

  • Sometimes I couldn't find him and right before time would run out I'd pop the cheat, hehe. BUT I TRIED!! :)

  • @Adzerk that wouldnt work on the snes!

  • @FretNinja well duh, it was for Sega :P

  • I still have this game...ima play it this weekend because my boyfriend has never heard of cool spot! Jeeze some people these days :P

  • In elementary daycare there was a snes and the only games were cool spot and super mario bros 3

  • Ahhhhh for the SNES, I was wondering why it looked different

  • whats the name of the song???

  • I was drink Coca Cola when I watched this. Oh the irony.

  • Why do I want to buy 7up now?

  • This game is sheer awesome-ness!!! =D

  • this reminds me my childhood :')

  • OMG i rmember playing this as a little kid. It truly was an epic game.

Maybe I should try it again. :D

  • One of the best marketing games ever. Long challenging and fun...

  • Must... get Cool Spot again

  • Is it me, or does the music starting at 0:18 sound remarkably similar to Electric de Chocobo at about 1:06?

  • @MizukiYumeko Well they are the same song... the song is "Wipeout", first recorded by The Surfaris.

  • @mkarnerfors Huh.. I never knew that! ^_^

  • Sorry guys, but I like Cool Dot better lol

  • Yay California Games :)))

  • I loved this game but man it got frustrating towards the end

  • xaxaxa this turn's me in 98th ::D:D:DD

  • on sega is better

  • damn this brings back memories

  • This game had awesome animation.

  • I wont lie, I loved this game as a kid, and at various points in my life its made me buy a 7up, even though I prefer Sprite.

Well done to the game's creators, I love this game.

  • amo ese juego !!! ◕ ‿ ◕

  • why in the world would someone rate this down?

  • THIS WAS THE MOST AMAZING GAME AS A KIDlol besides super mario

  • Check out my jazz rendition of Wipeout!

  • The name of the song is Wipeout

  • i remember my playing this game before windows came out...

    good times

  • The music, colors, background, and spots (which looked similar to yarnballs) all reminded me heavily of Bubsy.

...But whatever gaming purists may say about it, Cool Spot was an ingenious tie-in from Virgin interactive and 7up marketers and brought about a very similar 2D side-scrolling 'Milo' game from Nestle around the same period in the mid '90s (in Australia)

The hero was represented in the Nestle game by a thirsty whitish-blond skateboarder as opposed to a non-human spot or animal.

  • lmao this vid made me laugh for some reason

  • OMFG! so many memories.... :(

  • Holy Shit I used to get so baked and play this game non-stop...........good times

  • i have this game on my master system and it is still a great game!

  • and man now I really wanna 7up! xD

  • epic

  • This was ported to the PC.

  • Best game ever! I just bought it for gameboy. It still rocks!

Unfortunately there is no 7Up in Gameboyedition..

  • @Pommes1983 It's Virgin Cola in the Game Boy version

  • @Raymiles2 I don't think so, because it's green.

But I don't know of Virgin Cola, so may be..

  • sorry, thats wrong, it's really virgin cola

  • @Pommes1983 the original was cool spot for the sega genesis virgin cola is the remake

  • @Pommes1983 Maybe it's a regional thing. In the UK the GameBoy version was full of Virgin Cola advertising (it's not a defunct brand). The bottle in the intro and the health pickups were all Virgin Cola bottles and in the bonus stage you had to collect letters that spelt Virgin. I was surprised when the ads in the MegaDrive version were different.

  • what is the name of that song? i can´t remember....

  • Wipeout

  • A very very cool game. Its playable even in this days...just like TOE JAM and EARL.

  • Damn i can't believe I remember this. Now I have to download to play!!!

  • best game ever lol

  • i loved this game :) me & my sister would play it for hours, on pc though floppy disk's were where it was at back then!!

  • some how i remembered this game. if not for this game i would of completely forgotten 7up had a mascot

  • Wow, man I remember when everyone was trying to get into the video game business. 7up, Dominoes with the NOID, MTV the snes rocked!!!

  • This brings back so many memories xD

  • this game was awesome, it will be cool as a downloadable for psp or ds

  • epic

  • EPIC BEAST of a game

  • This alone could have been a 7up commercial, i'd have drank it.

I freakin loved this game, bring back cool spot!

  • That game was EPIC

  • @Rndmpro this game still epic

  • this game is so cool xD

  • sprite is better :p

  • This game was fun. I managed to beat it but not sure when.

  • Cool game!

  • I remember this game when I was like 5 or 6. LOVED IT!

    Wow.. memories.

  • Game was awesome, but fucking HARD!

  • man i usta love that game.

  • This game is AWESOOOOOOME

  • i play the game for the music only :D

  • Well it worked, caus I only drink 7Up and never Sprite. Cool Spot would kick the hell out of the Sprite.. uh elf.

They even made a too short 3rd sequel to Cool Spot so the game must have made money.

  • Great game, don't remember if I played it on the Megadrive or Snes (I think megadrive), but it rocked my childhood :D

  • lol

  • i heard there is a real song for this game but I dont know what is the name of this song

  • The actual song is called Wipeout.

  • How can you not know fucking Wipeout...

Jeez did you just crawl out from under a rock?

  • yes Jeez...

    do you know why..

because I am not from this culture .. so I dont know about it..

so whats wrong from knowing about it.. ?

  • I had this game because my mom worked for DR PEPPER/7-UP. This was soo fun!

  • omg i beat this game it was so fun and i like 7up then so it worked lol. wow time flies

  • OK, i get it now. This game was just advertising 7UP. Funny how things go straight over your head when your kid. The bastards.

  • I think the Genesis intro sounded better, mainly because it had the strong bass drum roll. =)

  • OMG! I don't know what made me think of this game but something did, lol. I loved it!

  • omffffffff yer cool spot so good, seriously i wud swap gta jus to play it again, actually i think playin it again might ruin it, i'm jus guna live with the memories :)

  • spot forever!!!!!!!

  • Omfg I remeber this game XD sadly I don't have it. I always rented it though XD this game is hard

  • Haha I remember this game!! great! =D

  • That's wicked!

  • I still have this one

  • lol i had this for sega and i couldnt get past this one boat level.

  • And now I am very thristy.

  • So am I, but I got to add a little whiskey to mine, LOL

  • omg cool spot! i rememeber this haha

  • That is the most brazen intro I ever seen.

To me this game was just an advertisement with a controller attached.

  • It's like the game is trying to tell me something, but what? XD

  • DUDE!

That is one awesome line, man I wish I could use it for a review!

  • Go ahead then; and to make it funnier, you could pull out a bottle of 7up and start drinking it. XD

  • I got a can prepared already heh, even if it'll take ages for me to make it.

I kinda have some nice thoughts about 7up

"If pepsi is sex... then 7 up is..."

  • "If Pepsi is sex, then 7up is an orgy."

    How's that?

  • Ehh not fiting, I prefer pepsi and cola any day hehe

  • if pepsi is like sex then 7up is like winning a semi-final.

  • Most mascot games where bad, but Cool Spot really hammered it! This game is SO awesome. They need to bring back cool spot.

  • Coooooooooooooooool Spot! =]

  • I hve made guitar tabs for the first level soundtrack, it is (on the last string):

    4-5-4-7-5-4-5-4-2-0, 4-5-4-7-5-4-5-4-5-7,

    9-7-5-7-5-4-5-4-2-0

try it, easy only on the last string

  • in Europe, the mascot of 7UP is not cool spot, but Fido Dido. So, european version of Cool Spot doesnt have 7UP logo^^...

  • i wonder till today how people could have the hilorious idea of the 7up spot ^^

  • ONe of the best games of all time...

and it was a character from a soda can...

  • I'd be surprised if this game was on Virtual Console. :)

  • w-w-w[dot]youtube[dot]com/watch?v=f3S_eseZ8_g

  • goooooooo 7up!!!!!!!!!!

  • still got this game for the good ol SNES

  • I still have this game for the game gear!

  • me too :) it was so awesome at the time. i remember seeing the sand and couldnt believe the graphics.

  • lol

  • The game was good, but that was one shitty intro.

  • always use to rent this game still wouldnt mind getting it

  • THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! HAHAHA

  • yay! spot

  • What is the name of the music?

  • Wipeout by Surfaris

  • hahaha this so fucking 90s!

  • 90s fucking rock!

  • my snes version does not have 7up sticker on that bottle. Is that NTSC version?

  • yup. North American release.

  • The good ol' days.

  • such an awesome game but i had this game on my pc ?

  • What the hell, the music here sounds like Mr Larpus from Pump It Up.

  • The utter decline in superb 2D platformers like this is a sad loss for vidoegaming, as identikit World War 2 games are churned out. Although there have been some great 3D games as well eg on N64, Dreamcast and Cube in general imagination in videogames has declined, not improved. Perhaps one of today's videogames developers could explain why games from this era had more fun, cool and imagination in its little finger than this generation's?

  • Possibly this game has one of the greatest Soundtracks of its time, and is still a classic of today!

  • ooh nostalgiiie !!!!! i was 6years old when i play at this game!

  • Video game product placement at its best!!

  • While it was an advertisment on the outside, at the core its one of the best games for the SNES/Genesis, and thats no lie, dont be so quick to judge it, give it a playthrough.

  • brings me back to the good ol days =)

  • Uhh, this game was NEVER "underrated". It got really high review scores when it came out. The character animation in this game basically blew everybody away, because before this game most games had crappy 4-frame walk cycles, and 2 frame attacks, etc. This game set the bar for sprite animation in side scrollers.

  • dude, this was like my favorite game when i was like 5, it kicked so much ass... and still does

  • Oh god, the SNES version looks A LOT better than the PC version I used to play when I was a kid.

  • I lover this game =D and cool music too ;D

  • I rmber renting this game now this game kick cows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go cool spot i hope thay will make a new one some day.

  • I love this game! >.<

  • For an underrated game, it was awesome.

  • YOU BET it was underrated!!! This game absolutely ruled the SNES, no doubt about it.

  • this was a fun game for the snes when I rented this one time.
