  • Lots of stairs...

  • Why would you go right to the top AS the bell chimes? You can practically hear that all over London. Being IN THE SAME ROOM would probably deafen you.

  • wooow see ya nexy year

  • I'm booked on a tour to climb up to see Big Ben!

    Cant wait!!

  • Remember when you could watch a video without having to sit through a commercial?

Remember when music videos were uploaded by users and not VEVO

Remember when all the info was to the right of the video?

Remember you could rate a video 1-5 stars?

Remember the famous yellow subscribe button?

Remember when the users controlled the site and now corporations?

    WE MISS THE OLD YOUTUBE

Post this in every video and lets start a youtube revelution Thumbs up if you agree

  • @TheiPodguy250 Yep, major censors GOOGLE are the crime behind it all. How dare they censor our right to free speech. I agree with you.

  • @TheiPodguy250 Remember when Youtube had no chain comments? No, neither do I.

  • who would dislike this video? how dare they!

  • 350 steps

  • lol, climbing up the stairs, you were fast forewarding, I Was fast forewarding.

  • Is Big ben now open to the public? I have been asking about going into big ben tower for years

Please PM me how I go about being aloud to visit the tower

    thanks

  • @watsdastoriwitya if you are a UK resident, contact your MP and they can book you on the tour.

  • that must have been a helluva staircase...

  • ......if only I didn't suffer from extreme acrophobia i could climb this tower and take in all this beauty....

  • WhOa that made me feel weird O.o

  • u could slowed it down at the intersting parts.

  • I was in the 1st group of this year (2010) to climb big ben, it was brilliant, had to book through my MP 3 months in advance cos so many people want to do it! It's interesting to see the clock mechanism working as you almost reach the top. If yr British and interested in history it's worth the climb!!

  • When it's speeded up it looks like somthing from a horror film :P

  • dizzy!

  • People who are talking about a lift/elevlator thing, it's a top class listed building, part of English Heritage, no major modifcations are allowed to be installed, that's why there is no electric motors replacing the original machinery, and that it still has to be winded up manually, it's preserved. The only mods it's had from what I recal are lit up dials and dangerous areas gated, and security.

  • I think it's controlled by computers now as well

  • How come you're not allowed to run down the stairs? Do you cause damage to the clock or something?

  • @emmettsgirl981, its cause you can easily slip and fall if you run down it. I remember a guy telling me that once when I was rushing down those stairs.

  • is the public allowed up thier? also how do u get in?

  • @millionmax100

I've heard that not many people get to go up their but you can if you're lucky. I think you go through a little doorway that you can't see in pictures because they're hidden by trees/bushes then you go up lots of stairs until you reach the top. At the top, there's the belfry.

  • Not without permission. I think via your local MP you can arrange a tour...

  • Nah. its in the compound of Parliment which has armed police XD would need special permission to get to the clock tower.

  • dang that is a LOT of stairs, i would be tired already

  • A very poor video which didn't show much of BIG BEN and the clock workings. It was very shaky and it didn't do justice to this fabulous monument!

  • Hmmm i think a new elevator needs to be put in am I right.

  • i think they need an elevator but if you want to be fit walk

  • @doctorwholordotime

I agree with the elevator thing!

  • SWEET! Thanks!

  • ohhh that's dizzy

  • id love to go up there, i must find out how, i bet its difficult to get permission.

  • @Jimpsterz

I have just posted a comment to millionmax100 about how I think you get permission and go up to the belfry. Why don't you take a look at it?

  • I'm an English national. My girlfriend is Swedish, she comes here every six months, and i like to show her spectacular things about England. Would she be permitted to climb Big Ben with me?

  • I have three questions. 1) Isn't Big Ben one of the world's most accurate clock towers? 2) Is that a lighthouse up top? 3) Why is Big Ben struck from the outside of the bell when most bells I've seen are struck from inside the bell?

  • 1) Big Ben was the most accurate clock by the time it was built

    2) The Ayrton light is lit when the Parliament is in session

    3) the internal hammer is used in slanted bells. Fixed bells are normally hit from outside

  • Es impresionante, es hermoso.

  • Thank you for posting this! Its great to see what its like. i looked up this video because i just had a completely random dream about climbing this tower.

  • Extremely interesting, but terrible photography.

  • is it possible to visit the clock tower????????? please answer

  • course it is :)

you can visit the statue of liberty, the Eiffel tower & Big Ben. Their all famous land marks!

  • Visits are normally not allowed, because the tower is part of the Parliament building. UK residents must seek permission to visit it by asking the representative of the Parliament in their region. Foreigners must contact their UK embassy before departure

  • I've read right now that foreigners can't visit Big Ben anymore. I remembered that it was possible on an old english civilization schoolbook

  • Are u sirius? :O

Cause on Aug 4 i'm going to London and since i'm going to spend some time in London I was interested in going to see inside of the Big Ben :(

  • From what I've seen only UK citizens can as you need to get in through your local MP, there was no information for foreigners in getting in so I assume they don't do that anymore

  • Fantastic. Big Ben is the greatest sight in the world standing tall overlooking London, the greatest city on earth. This video gives us a rare glimpse inside the hallowed walls of westminster. Thank you so much!!

  • Big Ben is the greatest sight in the world, unbeatable. He stands proud over our great country and has done for centuries. He cannot be equalled , he stands tall and watches over London arguably the greatest city on earth.Great video giving the viewer a rare and unique look inside parliaments secret walls.

  • Man... I'm dizzy! :-S
