It´s amazing what child imagination is capable to do! I remember I saw some gear inside the fembot´s face, and no gear is there!!! Besides that I remember I saw a deep volume inside the head, plenty of awful spinning gears, and now I see that´s just a plain PCB with an artistic facial similarity in its electronic component locations!! All the opposite!!
I know im gna sound like some kind of martial arts purist when i say this but i saw escapes and counters for all the attempts the fembots made to try and subdue our cybernetic hottie. Its nice to revisit the series but fight scene choreography definitely has come a long way since those heady "push me - pull you" days :)
A little information for fans of Star Trek and The Bionic Woman: A book called Star Trek: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh mentions Jaime Sommers in a small segment. Of course, the Star Trek novels are not regarded as canon, but it would be interesting if Jaime existed within Star Trek history.
I think the fembots are scarier than the Borg. That would be quite a story: The Borg travel back in time and join forces with the fembots to subdue humanity. Picard and his crew follow them and help the OSI defeat them.
"Increase power on the Fembots!".. when he said that, I knew our Jamie was in trouble! I loved the look on Jamie's face when the Callahan Fembot easily pulled her arm back.
Interesting that Jamie can't break free of fembot Callahan's grip initially, but afterwards, she beats her/it up very easily. Also, when Jamie tipped the bookcase onto the second fembot, none of the books fell out.
If someone had told me, as a kid, that in my 40s I would be able to sit if front of a keyboard and screen, in the comfort of my own home, and watch clips from nearly every TV show from my youth I would have told them to take a flying leap! I would have never believed it. It blows me away how different things are now. And I suppose 20 yrs from now my grand kids will say the same thing
I am in agreement with everyone, that the shows of today are horrible and quite mediocre. Some people want to talk trash about 70s TV calling it "cheesy", "bad," etc., but for one the stories were much more creative and the actors could actually -- gasp -- ACT. Now, there is a concept -- you actually have to be a good actor??? Well, not by today's standards apparently.
In my early 40's now, but man, I used to watch this and the 6 million dollar man as a kid! I'd always loved the battles with the fembots. I had wondered why in the hell did their faces come off so easily?... then it dawned on me...They are merely easy access maintenance panels. LOL I must say, the shows they have out now is crap! Yeah, they may have the high tech updated special effects now but their imagination and story base sucks!
people always say steve made higher jumps then this and was ok..why didn't jaime land with out shorting out her leg ...maybe there was something wrong with her leg she didn't even know about and thats why it couldn't handle that landing ..maybe steve could have made that same jump out jaime's window and he would have been fine ..her leg mite have had something wrong with it and that's why her leg couldn't handle the jump ..so when she landed the leg gave out ..(just saying)
The fembots were jamies bigfoot and death probe...scary! Always had crush on Callahan (Jennifer Darling) she guess stared everywhere In the 1970's loved her the Hulk episode when she was truck driver. The funniest episode of the series by far.Jennifer Darling is a Darling.
"Not that bionic" 2:58-3:06 is a nice touch, even bionic limbs have a breaking point. IMO if she had hit the ground from a five story jump on both feet at the same time instead of her right foot first @ 2:58 she might could have withstood that landing, as someone else pointed out both she and Steve have made higher jumps than that before.
I will never forget this scene as long as I lived. It scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. I love how Lindsay Wagner did this. She was strong, yet genuinely terrified. I liked how, even though she was very strong, she was still vulnerable. Her facial expressions were the best when she was fighting.
Fembot Tech could beat bionic with ease with todays chips or even older with proper application. But any robot with a voice that sexy...well why not just give up? She can always hurt u later......
@me0on0utube LOL. That is how I can guess how old someone is. If I asked "What is a Fembot" and they mention Austin Powers, I know they are most likely under 40, lol. Austin Powers took the term from the Bionic Woman. These are the REAL Fembots from my youth. :)
As much as I liked watching this show as a kid, IT DROVE ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE how bionic action was translated into slow-motion photography. Jamie had all these powers and...moved....so.....slowly.....across.....the.....tv......screen....
@evangus well no kidding! But I knew then as a dumb little kid that something was not right in the way her bionicness was portrayed. Quite possibly, as a dumb little kid, I could have directed the action scenes better than what the production staff had in mind as their concept.
I loved this episode! This was the first time Jaime was truly given a run for her money. It may have even been the first time she was on defense, at least at first, that is until she realized what she was truly up against. The reality is that the robots weren't necessarily stronger as proven by the fact that Jaime did break free from her grip. She just had to work hard is all. Now had she actually learned to fight like Steve did against them, she would've stood a better chance.
@prof32 Don't forget that the guy who made the Fembots only had said to strength increased a small percent had he kept going Jamie wouldn't have broken free. then he increased it more to brake down the door. a door Steve and Jamie would have broken easily, you noticed it took two Fembots to get thru the door.. so my guess is the Fembots while strong were not at full strength. He could increase the strength past the bionic Strength.
@Astraldragon1 The reason I think it's not true is in Part II where Steve goes up against them, Franklin says "My fembots are just as strong as you and you're outnumbered". If they were indeed stronger, he would have said so. Also, from Fembots in Las Vegas where Jaime takes on Franklin's son, she's able to out power him with her one arm versus his. It is only when he uses both arms that she gives up. Had Callahan used both arms, Jaime wouldn't have broken free but the bionic arm is stronger.
@Astraldragon1 Steve would've handled them (you saw what he did to Chester Dolenz robots) but it was Jamie's show. Steve couldn't make her look bad. Btw..I always wanted the reunion movies to have a final showdown between the fembots and all the bionics: Steve, Barney, Bigfoot, Jaime,Andy, Max, Michael, and Kate. Then we would really see who had the advantage. The only real advantage the fembots ever had was there was more of them. Barney and Bigfoot alone would annihilate them.
@Astraldragon1 continued....Barney and Bigfoot had such rage (bigfoot being part beast, that makes sense). Barney was never judicious about using his full strength. I think Steve always used caution. Jamie, most of the time, was apprehensive and scared, always running away, which annoyed me some of the time. I understood years later, why Lindsay played it the way she did but I wanted the character to grow a couple and kick ass unashamedly. Just once!
I never understood why Jamie didn't jump up to the roof instead of the ground. It only looked like one floor to the roof and we've all seen her jump up buildings before!
Probably because she was panicking...but even then she was just jumping down a five story brownstone and she wasn't "too bionic" for that? but then later in the series and in some of the TV movies she and Steve are jumping whole buildings
And also Dr. Franklin tell his fembots to "not take any chances and return to base" When they exit the building all they had to do is take jamie and put her in the trunk of a car, what was the big chance there?? Its not like she was gonna strgl
I was 9 or 10 yrs. old when I saw this episode. When the Fembot lost her face mask, I nearly shit in my pants!! I thought Calahan, and that other Fembot were going to rip her apart!!
@ShutUpH00ker The recent Bionic Woman show was so poorly written, and they never showed "bionics". They'd show her doing some martial arts, but she wasn't "slowly" throwing a person across a room or something. Also, she wasn't personable. That's what made Lyndsay Wagner's portrayal of The Bionic Woman so great. She was personable, warm, very smart and beautiful! The original show was such a great show!
@Beautifulmusiclistnr ... Yeah it wasn't that great mainly because they tried to make her a more common person at first [a waitress instead of a tennis star] and then they tried to humanize her too much with her deaf niece / Some of the fight scenes IMO were more realistic than the original but yeah the martial arts stuff was overdone, the slo mo probably wouldn't work these days anyway
I fear the new wonder woman will suffer the same fate as the new bionic woman....
@ShutUpH00ker I agree with you the new Wonder Woman will suffer the same fate. I think that there's another underlying issue, and I could be wrong about this. Since I haven't seen the new "Wonder Woman yet, it's just speculation, but the original Bionic Woman, and the original Wonder Woman were both feminine, but they could beat up everybody around them. They had a lady like quality (not to be confused with sleazy women today) and inner beauty that is a magnet for men which certainly drew me.
Yeah I guess a woman to be considered to be strong today she has to be a bitch... but its a different world today than it was back then and with the fact that most people have a more choices in changing a channel its no surprise a lot of TV shows don't survive these days....
I have seen this clip several times the last couple of days, and it just reminds me of how well this show was written. Lindsay Wagner did such an outstanding job as the Bionic Woman, and her fights with the Fembots or anybody were the best. I wish there would have been more episodes with Fembots. Jaime could always throw them here or there!
OMG I was around 12-13 when this first aired on TV and I just thought Jaime was the best! She was so beautiful and strong and smart and funny - just the ultimate hero! Gawd I am like 46 now and I look back on the 1970s with such fondness and wish the world could be that innocent now
OH YES I REMEMBER GREAT EPISODES "KILL OSCER" FEMBOTS WERE STRONGER BUT JAMIE WAS SMARTER..WHEN SHE JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW AND MEST UP HER LEG..I WAS MAD LOL
When Franklin said "increase power on the Fembots" (a very quotable line, by the way) and the Callahan Fembot effortless pulled Jamie's arm back.... I knew our Jamie was in trouble. I remember as a kid yelling at the TV set "Jamie get outta there!"
@02chevyguy I don't think Jaime's neighbors got too many complaints because she lived in a detached apartment on a ranch with Steve's parents in Ojai. That apartment was Callahan's.
@02chevyguy LOL I love it. I also imagine Callahan saying to her insurance agent "After they totally trashed my place, this Bionic Woman jumped out the window since she didn't want to pay for damages, and the Fembots (women that have had serious facelifts) also left. I'm used to bionics because I'm a Classification Level 6. This apartment trashing stuff happens to my friend, Diana Prince, all the time. That's why I chose your insurance agency. So, how much did you say my deductible was?" lol
@prof32 I'm glad you like my amusing posts. I think it's fun to put up posts with some humor, and hopefully others enjoy what I've written especially when it's about a great show like The Bionic Woman. Besides, after that "cat fight" in Callahan's apartment, I'm sure that Callahan got evicted for not holding up to her lease of returning the apartment in its original condition! ;)
I loved the fem bot episodes. I had the Bionic Woman doll along with the Fem Bot Doll and Oscar Goldman Doll w/ exploding briefcase. Great memories. I wish I still had those stupid dolls!!!!!!!
@leonardbrooks Most BIONIC WOMAN and those Bionic man 6 inch DOLLS ALONG WITH *Very hard to find GI JOE (The ORINGINAL 1960-70's action dolls before Destro, Zartan and the Dreadnoks was created*) and even the Evil Kneivel vehicles, those 1970 SHOGUN Giant toy robots that shot spring-loaded missles across half the room is still availible on EBAY,However those plastic classics ages where toys becomes so brittle that moving parts cant be used without breaking =( Mostly used for SHOWPIECES/Display
@leonardbrooks oh. i did to.........honestly i don't remember how old i was!!! but i actually cannot beleive that i'm sitting here watching this!!! it's just bringing back so many memories!!! oh remember i just got done watching the episode where they turned his friend into a robot!! "fem-bots" must have come from the same place!!! ;-) excellent!!
@bigchuck3888 Fembots came from Dr. Franklin. Steves' friend that became a robot Major Sloan was created by Doctor Dolenz who later also created the first robot Oscar.
I was nine when this was on TV in 1976 and I was thrown that there were robots that could actually beat Jaime & Steve! When she landed on her leg like that I was SO upset! Fembot episodes were the best!

@ShutUpH00ker lol "Ma'am, that's a deductible of six million dollars per bionic person, and one million for every bionic dog".

@Beautifulmusiclistnr LOL! You all are too funny. I guess it shows how much we've grown since this series was first on.
