  • I would consider this the ultimate dream job! I TD in Winnipeg, Canada and use a 3 MLE Ross Vision with OverDrive. I hear the sony switchers are pretty sweet. Have you used OverDrive and what do you like better about the sony?

  • That's right Byrd56

  • Probably Steelers at Titans Dec 21, 2008; CBS' score box back then was positioned in one corner of the screen, instead of being across the top of the screen like it is in 2011.

  • I studied video production, but learned this in the field.

  • Hey, What kind of education do you need for these control room positions?

  • You sick wit it. Show us more

  • Looks like a really stressful gig! I'm sure they have a ton of experience and its just another day on the job.

  • Thanks Ryan.

  • SOOOOO Hard to do!!!! I respect all involved and have always wanted to be a part of an event so huge. Please let me work with you! I have skills!

  • this is awesome, please upload more/similar if you can!!

  • NEP SS24

  • was this in a truck?

  • Good stuff. I use the same switcher for NHL and WHL. Gotta love those Sonys. Def my favourite so far.

  • newyorktd at yahoo dot com

  • Any chance i can send you some questions to answer for my School Project? I go to Niagara College in canada and am doing a paper on direction in mobile tv productions.

    Awesome video, btw.

  • Not sure what Mike is referencing. I don't see a two second delay. Yes 1-3 downstream and then PGM PST.

  • That's right larryh34. I put the first 10 under snapshots with the score always in.

  • @newyorktd a couple more questions, sorry to bug you: what was wrong with the graphic that Mike is talking about at the tail end of the clip? Why is there a two second delay from when you push the buttton and it appears onscreen? Also, are the M/E's numbered 1-3 from the top down and the bottom rows are pgm/pst?

  • thanks for this awesome video. I am not a technician but work in the business. it seems like you are switching your cameras on a keypad on the right of the me bus, how does that work? is that a fast way for you to put the most common cameras on the air cleanly and then you can add effects or less common cameras from the me bus?

  • beats the hell out of horseracing ;)

  • Good grief, please forgive me for being so ignorant of that technology (I'm a radio man) actually behind the board at a big station in Nashville as I'm typing this airing a netcaptured hour of Doug Urbanski. I'm thinking about going into tv production if radio doesn't work out.

  • It's there JC.

  • Hey, I can't see your MacBook running iTunes from this angle...

  • Roundobi, the ShotBox is mounted higher for ergonomic reasons. Element, there are three people on the front choosing sources.

  • So much more exciting than my shows. How do you have your utility module mounted up so high? I really like that.

And do you usually have your Program monitor on the left? Mine is always on the right, I don't know if I could get used to a switch.

  • how many people are behind you spotting the screens? I know the guy we see in the camera is receiving the commands right? and then operating the controls and verifying to see everything is right, but how many people spot the screens and give the orders?

  • That is freeking madness.

  • Woah!

  • i make all those cuts with the score in. if i want font or not i do it manually. it makes for faster camera cuts and i can keep my head up and "touch type"

  • thank you for answering! do you have more videos of this kind? its very interesting to see how others tds manage the same situations with different resources!! I've noticed you cut the cameras with snapshots, why do you do that? this doesnt tie you if you want to go clean to a camera, etc?

sorry for asking so many questions!

    thanks

    Diego

  • its an effect timeline. i hit run which send a PBUS trigger to my evs.

    thanks for commenting diego.

  • HI, im a TD from Uruguay, south america. We use an MVS6000.

I enjoy very much your video.

i have some questions if you dont mind to answer them, when you press the button in the utility module for replay in. its a macro? or timeline? when you "fire" the effect, what button do you press to fire the ddr and do the transition? its a very interesting video, i've seen it many times beacuse you are very fast and its a very fast paced show.

    thank you very much!

    Diego

  • @cocardo39 I don't know how he has it setup but when I use the same switcher I have snapshots of almost everything I'll need to do that isn't basic cutting and timelines of various moves. Usually I'll use a macro to load a snapshot and run a timeline at the same time when needed. Some people don't combine them like that but it works well.

  • @epic sony is cool.

    @vaedriah keep it up.

    @lordo flex,

@k4rgd it is 24. cams in 3. replay to 2. dsk is for spot and tele.

@news yes td for cbs sports.

  • The best thing we have is a ross vision 1... sony is much cooler

  • cool, I do this at school and it is fun but really intense however obviously not to this scale but very similar.

  • You're my hero!

  • Looks like a NEP truck. SS24? Worked on that MVS-8000 in Dallas.

Cams on M/E-2, effects on M/E-3. Nice. Would you manually transition to camera while maintaining font or did you ever DSK them?

  • unreal!!!

  • Very cool.

  • Whoa, you're a director for CBS sports?
