I always thought this song would make for a perfect PSA (Public Service Announcement) for child support. What deadbeat dad wouldn't feel like a schmuck after seeing a video of a kid striking out on the baseball diamond, or gazing out the window in class and the teacher gingerly placing their hand on their shoulder - because his Dad left him just when he needed him most.....Punchline at the end: " It Takes a Real Man to be A Dad "

I have only loved one women (other then my daughter) with every ounce of my heart. Not only did I love her but she was my best friend. In 95' she broke up with me because I was in the military and had been transferred from Denver to Phoenix. I was heart broken for years, no other women could compare to her in my mind. I only seen her once after that, she had moved on, had kids etc. thanks to FB we have reconnected & are only about 45 mins apart. I haven't been happy like this in yrs.

This just says it all. Bringing out all those feelings of abandonment,which I've bin thru so many times, Its a bit of a releif to kwow I'm not the only one out there. I'm at apart of my life where I feel so alone, and isolated.It's songs like these that really help me embrace those feelings,and let them flow. Maybe there is some healing power to this. My heart goes out to all who have bin abandoned at one time or another.

this song was popular about the time my husband was undergoing chemo for skin cancer and he died about 2 years later. it just makes me cry and i sure miss him even after all these years. really loved him.....he suffered so and i know he's in a better place, but i still miss him every day :(

Wow... I haven't heard this on the radio for YEARS. I loved this song. It went to #4 in the US (but oddly didn't do nearly as well in Canadump, where releases generally chart about the same level as in the US), and #8 in the UK.

My punishment was too severe- he left without a word and never looked back. This song was so perfect to describe the feelings in my heart. I find myself listening to this song even when my day is bright. Don't understand why. Picking up the pieces are hard cause I don't know where the pieces flew. I don't know how to move on now!
