Ugh, yeah the Werehog kinda sucks when you first play as him because of the upgrading system but here's some tips, use punches (Y-button) instead of swipes (X-button) to deal more damage to a single target. You should also consider saving up your Unleashed mode until a point where you are stuck as Unleashed mode makes you temporarily invincible.
