I wish Rush would have incorporated more keyboards/mellotron to this record than they did. I never understood the argument that more guitar is needed and how so many people hate the 80s keyboard sound. Oddly enough..the band sold more albums than they did in the 70s, 90s, and 00's combined in the 1980s and the songs had much better texture.
Snakes has some really great songs it's just too low key and depressing though song after song.
I agree many of those songs from Power Windows and Hold Your Fire are great , but i feel that Alex Lifeson is waaaaaaaaayyyyy too good of a guitarist to be overshadowed like that. Plus changing their style is one of the cornerstones to their development as musicians.

It appears to be a new Rush video, the first since Driven (unless you count Closer To The Heart from Different Stages)and also appears to be very cutting edge like TOOL. I dig it and it will get great play on vh1-classic.
Rush is back to making music videos again which is a good thing. Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree are making multiple videos for their new records as well. They realize that the exposure of videos on myspace, youtube, vh1 classic, and other outlets can only help them.
