Are you saying that Persephone was someone like Medea, a sorceress, witch or 'wise woman' who came from outside Greece, perhaps from West Asia? Surely the myth is a pagan one and has to do with the renewal of vegetation each year, Persephone personifying the power or life force that makes the corn etc grow and as such an aspect of Demeter, her mother.
