Question: is there a difference in the taste between adding the spices earlier (adding them before you add veggies) and adding the spices when you add them (after you added the other ingredients?)
I ask because I'm Indian and have this perennial debate going with my mom about the best time to add spices to our food - I like to add them earlier and later, she complains adding them later makes you taste raw spice in the food.
Hey Jack. I tried this a few months ago, replaced the kidney beans with pinto, added some cheese and sour cream, and threw it on some chips. It was so freaking good. Keep doing what you do best man. You're show is great.
@jakatak69 Hey Jack, I have been watching your shows quiet often now, and i love your silverware set..... where did you get them? Can i buy some from you? Thanks -Matt
@mustard102 I received them as a gift for my wedding from Kathy Ireland. I am not sure where she got them. Print out a pic of the set from my vid and bring to Macy's or crate and barrel or some other store to help identify it.
I JUST bought the ingrediants to make this... i am sooo excited lol.... One question. I dont like Carrots so i plan to use potatoes. Should i add more water because of that?
hey jack im Peruvian and we eat spicy foods for a living. We're love it so much we put it eggs, potatoes, and even rice. If u ever r gonna have a party with Latinos leave the seeds in cuz we all love spicy food.
Just saying and warning for international foods expect alot of spicy food and spices u never heard of lol
@Swordth you may also be allergic to the oil in the skin of the Jalapeno . I had no issues. You are right to use gloves so this doesn't happen again. Nice comment. thanks for the warning.
@xdaysx Chili aint a US American dish. Its a mexican dish and doesn't contain any meat.
What you talk about is the version of chili that comes from the southern US States, and is called "chilli con carne" wich translates into "chilli with meat"
To add an extra kick to chili w/o being overpoweringly spicy i like to add a little white pepper and cayenne pepper. About 1 tablespoot each should do for a pot like that. Also instead of Jalapenos use serranos! I wanna see you try them one of these days, lol!
Wow Jack! You're better than that Vince guy from the SlapChop commercial!
I've found that chili powder actually does not go very far, if someone wanted a less spicy version I could cut down the jalapeño peppers to about 1 instead of 3, and maybe reduce the chili powder by one third.
Jack!!!! Oh my god, I was just chillin looking through different videos and I came across yours and I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL! Can you do a "meat" spicy chili? I've tried so many different meat chili and it doesn't come up spicy or thick I NEED THICK SAUSE MEAT CHILI.... help! Football season is coming soon, and nothing like chili for football.
@SpecOpsClan2010 no. I am fat because I don't exercise at all. If I was more active I would lose much more weight. In two weeks I am going to let my viewers know that I am going to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year. Sounds like a little bit, but it's always better to lose weight slow. I used to be a 34 inch waist until I stopped smoking and I never was thin again. Let's see what I can do for the show. LOL
hi im from singapore and i love ur show jack..u've done meat episodes u've done vegetarian episodes..how abt a seafood episode?maybe a lazy man's seafood platter or sumthing..
I usually do a regular meat and kidney bean chili and I find out tastes better done in a slow cooker. Do you think this recipe would do alright in a slow cooker too? I will keep this one in mind to try. Sounds and looks yummy. how spicey hot was it? some members of my family don't like hot. ~Amanda
@191MASTER the only benefit to ground coriander is that it dissolves well. You can ground or cut your own if you don't mind some bits in your chili. I don't care but some might.
in one of your earlier episode you said something about that is was better to mix the dry ingredients, is there any reason that you did not do that in this show?
@benolovesbekki What about halloween? :D just kidding. Your comment was written funny. I had to make note of it. I got that mug at Disneyland in the Jack Skelington Store.

This is AWESOME. I've looked for a spicy two-bean vegetarian chili for a while (Yes, that was pretty hard saying 5 times fast) This made a perfect addition to my lunch board and I really recommend all of you trying this recipe, and as Jack said, experiment with it, it can be used for a lot of stuff. I even made some vegetarian chili patties, it was good :F
Aint chili a vegetarian dish anyway? Except for the US American chili con carne.
Also, the seed contain almost no capsaicin. The seeds are just removed for looks.
Its the white stuff in the chili that contains the most capsaicin (because thats where the chili produces it). If you remove that, you get rid of alot of heat. Also the white stuff contains close to no taste, thats why its usually removed.
Thats a common misinformation that is spread by cooks worldwide.

ilurvemv 9 months ago
@ilurvemv She's right. Two things dry spices do.
1. they soften
2. then they release their flavor.
If you put them in at the end, you take the chance of those two things not happening.

A tip to anyone as dumb as me: Use some gloves or something when cutting the Jalapenos. And try not to touch your eyes while your doing it.
