The Vegan Society of The United Kingdom have a definition 'Dietary vegan', which means you dispense with all animal products for food, even though this does not correlate with The Vegan Society definition which is:
"Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing and any other purpose."
The word 'exploitation' here does not mean 'as long as you're not mean to them."

Another confusion arises from the word 'exploitation'. Some think this means 'No going to far." but I believe it means, "Use without consent."
I think of it as non-use of animals, as far as is possible and practical.

I had never thought about the "go vegan" phrase in that way though.
I like to think about it as non-violence. Exploiting non human animals is inherently violent etc.
I like how you mentioned that veganism is about humans as well as animals, so true, if it weren't then we would be hypocrites.
