This is very interesting :) I was just wondering what the point of therapy is? is it to learn not to change to a different personality or is it to learn the core reason that you have this disorder?

@tomeuari There are some systems where the alters are not aware of the other alters. But in my system everyone knows everyone.

@26DaysBefore It is interesting. I suppose because I have it and rarely look at it from an outsiders point of view I don't really see it as interesting that often. But I can absolutely see how someone who doesn't have it would find it fascinating. Hope you are well!

@xSystem69 Yes they do, Beth tries to make it clear it's her by greeting people with Cheers, and Richi likes to greet people with Sweeties or Lovelies or Loves.

@pviper101112 When one of my system comes out I go to The Meadow, a place they created for me so I won't be scared. When I am out, they have a house where they reside on the inside.

I've watched all three parts so far, & I really appreciate all the information you guys give. My future husband is still dealing with his massively chaotic system, & it helps to hear that certain things can be done. For example...the thing about the kitchen? Making the food appear and disappear- they uh...used to (warning might scare the littles) ..............................­..............................­..............................­...............

@aknpclove Yes, they are. Cassi is the first alter, she is the oldest. Kortni came a bit later.

@aknpclove Cassi is the caretaker. She looks after everyone. Kortni is the person Sara, Nikki and Mimi came from. I read somewhere about that theory that the alters are souls. I can see that happening. Not weird at all.

@TorysApollo It's not an ignorant question at all! Yes, now that I have cooperation I can switch when I want to. But also, they have the choice to not let me switch.

@MissPennyLoafers It is caused by systematic childhood trauma, abuse. Sexually, physically and emotionally. It is not genetic.

@NyHereICome I remember switching but I am not whomever comes out, they are their own person. I go into the Meadow, a place they created for me long ago so I wouldn't be scared during the switch.

OMG the British character and the little kid is just amazing! she really acted like a little kid when they are just in their own world, not listening to adults...The brain is some fucked/powerful tool...We have the power to control our thoughts with meditation and other exercises, which can lead the person to heal itself from anything. It's just easier said than done, it takes patience and a strong spirit

I don't mean any disrespect or anything by saying this, but, I think I kind of want to have multiple personalities. Just so that I can see what it would be like to actually be inside my head, and do what I please there. Not to mention you can hold a conversation with yourself, and it just seems like it would be one big fun party in my mind. I guess my head already is one big party in some sense, since I'm pretty sure that I'm crazy to some extent...

its great - i feel your richie and my eddie are pretty similar; especially with that whole - emo fashionista sorta trend. it was lovely meeting your alters! richis sense of humour is just fabulous! and the way hari gets distracted so easily is very sweet! also thank you to him for the lovely advice at the end! oh, and to beth; absynth is awful ._. it burns and tastes like watery bleach! and despite half a bottle and an achy stomach, neither my alters or my flatmates saw anything crazy :p

@infinatemind Richi is pretty fab! Hari is a typical 4 year old, sees something shiney and he's lost to us. :) I think beth talks a good game but I have never seen her actually drink alcohol. She's pretty funny. I saw the video with your flatmates, they seem very cool!

@seelkadoom9000 I have several favorites because of how I feel when I come back out. They leave residual sensations when they go back in, such as, Beth and Richi are very confident and I like feeling that way when I come back. I would say that Beth, Richi, Hari, Mimi, Cassi and Kortni are my top favorites.

I saw the movie 'Sybil' in which, at the beggining, Sybil didnt realize when they alters came out and what they did... did the same thing happen earlier to you? or you are always aware of what they are doing??

@randallpp They can but they refer to it as aging. They can decide what age they want to be depending how they feel. For instance, Hari has been 4 for awhile. Nikki was 6 for a long time, then an ex wanted him older and he aged to 22. He has been 22 ever since.

@vickypimp For them to come out, they have to ask my permission and I have to say its ok. For this, they already knew who was coming out and when. I can stop them from coming out but that's a little bit harder. This was all done in one day and afterward I had to rest. It wears me out and yes, I do get dizzy, but mostly just really tired. I usually take naps afterward.

@0Megaman0 It isn't simply telling them to go away. I like having them around. They are my friends. I have known about them since I was 21.

@0Megaman0 They wont just "go away" hence the reason we need therapy. It would be like you haveing a baby and then just wishing the baby away. It wont happen like that. If we want them to go away we have to go through a very long process called intergration. This takes years. We become very attached to each other and we dont always want to intergrate.

@lilmisswisebrown I perceive them as real people and that's all that matters to me. I mean, you may see them as not real, but you would have to live with this to fully understand how people with MPD actually sees their system.

@anjumanbakshi7 I am Tomi, the core person. I have male and female alters. They range in age from 2 to 54. It is a common place for people with MPD to have male and female alters. I hope this helps. :)

I know you said your alters have to ask to come out. And you give them permission. Can you ask them to come out? If so, when do ask certain alters to come out? And can you see the house and their rooms when an alter has taken over? Can you see the Nothing?

@stargrl16 I can ask them to come out or if they feel I am in danger they will come out without permission. I am able to visit their house and yes, I can visit the Nothing, it's a very scary place. It's so dark.

@ceciliahg11 Ghost alters are alter that were created for one thing and never used again so they never developed. They are basically a shell of a person What his parents did was add a little of themselves and make him whole. When I switch now, they have to ask for permission before they can come out.

@Morgan9181 That's a good question. She could if she fought hard enough. But I don't think she would do that because we have developed mutual respect for each other.

How do you know when you're changing a personality? How does it come about?

@ChelseaHerself When I was younger, I couldn't tell. When I was in my teens, I started noticing a pulling in the pit of my stomach. As I got older, I knew that meant I would black out soon. But now, It's a mutual thing, they have to ask permission and I have to allow it. Sometimes they can just come out, like if they feel I am in danger.

@LadySelene1 That refers to the main person everyone broke from. Although in some systems, the core is the personality that took over and became the main person when the original birth personality split beyond repair and sort of disappeared. As in the case of Trudy Chase.
