If linux was used as much as windows is that wouldnt be an issue. Have you ever even run Linux before? If your not a gamer i would suggest switching, learning, and do away with your slow, bloated windows OS. I am a gamer so i dual boot win 7 and Kubuntu. But i spend 90% of my time on my Linux install.

@PhenomenalOne12 maybe you jumped into linux without much preperation. Which version did you use? Most linux distros don't have codecs or drivers installed as that would be breaking the whole "open" consept. (linux mint however comes with everything preinstalled and it is great for beginners). games that do not have a linux installer will require a more advanced system to run with wine. Finally don't go directly to linux (big mistake). dual boot with windows until you get the hang of it.

There are so many choices when it comes to linux, and if you like that glassy look you can get it with very little trouble.

I don't really care about the cube, its eye candy mainly. BUT I do use multiple desktop activities (workspaces) with my KDE SC. Windows is so limited compared with either KDE or GNOME that it's like wearing a straight jacket. As a DE Windows amounts to a bloated piece of crippleware that doesn't do very much at all. I mean many people don't have the interest or the time to learn another operating system but with mint *.deb packages just double clicking on a deb installer works just fine. it is just too easy. I think that the main problem is that Linux and it's apps are not advertised at all. I also agree that it's not for everyone and a brain is definitely required since too many idiots expect it to be a windows clone out of the box, just like they do for mac, and the truth is that it isn't but it can be a great alternative.

Eh, not anymore. Linux is now really easy to use. So don't let that stop you. And games run way better in Windows that in Linux on my PC, but that's probably because I have a crappy Intel Chipset. And you know how Intel is with Linux drivers...

Everything else is faster in Linux though, even Flash. Although recently in Chrome if I open 2 Youtube videos at the same time, Flash will crash. I dunno what's causing it.

I use linux mint on my HP6715s, Linux mint KDE dual booting with windows on my HPG62 (my main laptop) and puppy linux on my aspire one netbook. 90% of the time i use linux except when i need to play a game. Still it took me a lot of time to configure everything the way i want and getting ati chipsets to run properly is a pain in the a**! And it is probably the reason why people don't use linux. cause they don't have time (or the interest) to go through that

@cyberlord64 linux is not really that attractive to the average user, it requires a lot more tech skills to navigate than windows. Graphic drivers are developed primarily for windows by ATI & Nvidia, the graphics cards perform better in that platform. I am not saying Linux isnt capable of gaming, it most likely is a lot more capable than windows, but linux has no market for that. BTW on my pc win 7 ultimate runs faster than my fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04
