  • i have a 03 V6 with a 4R70W transmission. will this shifter work with it

  • @xxKishotexx Yes

  • does this ratchet threw all 4

  • Ok I just bought mine off summit...Will the car stay in 3rd gear UNTIL you hit that red button to go into OD (4th)? Because thats one of the main reasons I am getting this. my 3-4 happens WAY too quick and I hate accelerating in 4th.

  • @Mr04MustangGT Yes. You shouldnt accelerate hard in overdrive anyways.

  • @MustangAficionado sick...So how much fun am I going to have with this setup? I have 4.10s and almost all bolt ons:-)

  • @Mr04MustangGT You aint gunna hate it, lol

  • Huh? What the hell??

  • @CVTECRon Wont work on a 95 GT to my knowledge, different engine and auto

  • @MustangAficionado they sell one for a 94-95 tho :)

  • how did you remove the stock handal

  • please can you tell how to remove the the shifter for 1996 mustang gt automatic

  • i need to get one

  • the red button turn on/off Overdrive.

be careful shifting like that.. you can loose it pretty easy if you have some power and the tranny shifts when you don't expect it too.

but its pretty cool. how do you go back to park or Neutral if you have already gone to first?

  • just install a straight cut with a sequential shifter way more power.lol

  • And way more noise, lol

  • from 1:07-1:10 is souned just like a manual, nice job and great work

  • That's because I got out of the throttle a little bit like you have to with a manual, best thing about this is you aren't required to get out of the throttle to shit - although i do sometimes as it aid in allowing you to shift when you want in lower rpms

  • Aficionado-What year is your GT? Most catalogs have the Hammer listed to fit consoles, but only up to the 2000 year model. I would like to get one for wife's 01 Saleen, already put in 3.73's, this would be a crowning touch. I had a megashifter in my old 79 Z-28, it was a blast, 4.10's, tunnel ram, 2x4's. That megashifter and valve body sure woke up that TH-350! I do remember having to drill out a hole larger in the valve body for more fluid passage/harder shifts. Stay in the throttle!

  • Mine is a 96GT. Ignore the model years, it said the same for mine. It's wrong, all 96-03's are same 4R70W, and in 04 they are 4R75W's which will work as well. Buy in confidence!

  • Thanks M.A., I think I'll go to JEGS (cheapest price and "No Cost" shipping promo) and "Buy in confidence". You don't work for B&M do you? Good sales pitch! I'll have her in the throttle soon and making "chirps". We are hard core Mustang fanatics. GAS IS CHEAP - GO FAST!

  • Ha, no I don't work for them (I wish). Hope you get a good price, i got mine back before the raised the price for 199.99 shipped.

  • Best price I could find seems to be $229.00. It is what it is. Prices going up on everything all the time. Go to a lot of car shows too and very rarely have I seen ratchet shifters in automatic Mustangs.

  • Wasn't using full throttle here. I only lifted off for one shift in the vid @ 1:08 just because I was still turning. I have a full throttle vid as well. I never lift off FOR a shift, only after. On a stock trans it's better not to, it keeps the line pressure high to sustain clutch overlap.

  • what do you do with the overdrive button

  • It's the red button.

  • i got the same shifter in my 90 lx but i got a different valve body in it so i dont have to shift from 1st to drive and back into first to stay in second, i love it it makes the car so more responsive

  • Why would you need to do that to stay in second?

  • Would that fit in an '03? Your Stang is around '00-'02 right?

  • Works on all 96-04 mustangs with the 4R70W auto (4R75W in the case of 04's). This is a 96 GT.

  • Oh sorry. I saw this first than your part 1. Thanks replying man! I tried to remove my center console the other day and I couldn't remove it because of the leather boot of my

e-brake. Yours doesn't have the boot right? How did you remove your center console?

  • You don't remove the entire center console (which is laborious). Just the shroud around the shifter which pops out given enough upward force. Then there are four bolts holding the shifter to the floor - dont you have instructions?

  • yeah that's what i meant, how ever much throttle you give it determines when it will shift after you hit the shifter up. It is really nice for downshifting though.

  • if i were you, i wouldn't waste my money on that, it does'nt react like a manual tranny even though you're supposed to be able to power shift. When you shift it, it's not going to shift until the RPM's get to the redline.

  • where it shifts is dependent on throttle application. It wont shift at redline unless you are flooring it, but if you want to shift past the point it would usually shift at given the amount of throttle this is useful for then shifting when asked to. Also useful for downshifting w/out fear of going into 1st gear by accident.

  • no auto will let you shift into first my accident.

  • With the stock set-up you can accidentally shift into first going 40mph for example trying to shift from 3rd (D) to 2nd and put pulling down too far.

  • Put it in myself, my guess is around $220.

  • is it a big job if you do it yourself?

  • Well, it's not the quickest thing to install. But it can be done by most patient people

  • hey do u still have the o/d on off switch? cuz i use that alot on my stang, i want this shifter but not if i lose that capability

  • that's what the red button is. It shuts off 4th, or if your in 4th it down shifts into 3rd.

  • That's pretty awesome. But I like my clutch too much.

  • I hear ya man

  • i want something like this for my 79 malibu

but i dont like the look of the ratcheting shifters look tacky and ricey

  • this isn't quite a ratcheting shifter, and it sure looks better than the stock shifting arm out of a Ford Taurus

  • That shifter would confuse me. Sweet stang

  • is that manual

  • cuz when i bought this car it wouldn have been stupid to pass up the deal based only on it being an auto. Plus w/ a built 4R70W and a 3200 stall and this shifter it's hard to often find a reason to have a stick.

  • Cool... but why not get a 5-speed? :D

  • yeah, i noticed that - lol

  • And you misspelled "tutorial". Very cool shifter though!

  • the subtitles come in before what they pertain to, unfortunately, for some reason
