The Ganges River DOES NOT BELONG to India. Just because it flows through your country doesn't mean you own it and can pollute its waters which in turn pollute other rivers and eventually the oceans around India and beyond.

I had heard long time ago , to cremate one dead body it requires app. 240 kilos of wood , multiply that with at least 50 million cremations per year, ( just a crazy low number in a country of 1.2 b people ) , it looks like the Indian forests will disappear in coming centuries. Besides, deforestation, what all is discharged in Ganga has resutlted in Ganga being polluted to its present level.
