  • Assuming the pilot walked away, that's a learning experience! Little expensive if he broke his prop, but definitely a learning experience.

  • i dont mind the fast speed, what i didnt get is the drastic power cut !! why do that all of a sudden? anyways, hope the pilot is safe and flying again

  • It " might " have been alittle hard but the landing gear should have held up to that . Ive bounced aircraft ALOT harder than that unfortunately , and never had a failure, knock on wood . It looks like he found a hole or a dip and it ripped of the right gear . It doesn't matter when you cut the power back . If anything he left power on a bit too long but that is just nit picking . It should have held up.

  • I don't think that landing approach looked that bad at all. I think the ultralight should have been able to take it.

  • this is a bad construction designe and engeneering ultra light the problem is not in the pilot

  • This ultralight looks weak, imma going to keep shopping

  • Too fast, rough ground, poor training...the list goes on

  • Not enough flair, looks like he flew it into the ground. Well, sh*t happpens, hopefully he didn't get hurt.

  • Came in a little too fast and looks like he hit a bump of some sort.

  • he would have been fine with a little flare at the end.

  • The problem with ultralight safety is not about the plane, but the pilot's insitence that they fly with no training. i'm not for regulating anybody, but the fact is, as long as every redneck is able to purchase an aerial vehicle and go flying, accident rates will remain high (I'm not trying to impugn the pilot in this video).

  • get that bitch out of ther

  • Howz come whenever I see a plane crash on here there is always see fat people running to go looky?

  • maybe with full power he could get the approach speed a bit faster???

dumb ass - waste of a good UL

  • up in the air with junior birdman (doosh nugget)!!!

he sure hammered on the landing gear!

  • Riding a flying lawnmower, subject to every breeze, sneeze, and wind change, seem more like a nightmare than fun.

  • typical bitch, ....I knew that would happen...I knew it. Always gotta be the center of attention and a (know nothing, know it all) even when a man crashes a an ultralight.

  • I think he is used to flying heavier and slippery aircraft

  • I know this guy; he always lands like that.

  • @MrDanieldb I know this guy, too. He's name is Tony

  • @MrDanieldb I know this guy, too. He's name is Tony

  • she has a cute ass..............lol

  • it just looks like he hit the brakes too hard

  • She knew it because hes been suckin suds all day.

  • That looks easy, I think all run out and buy one....famous last words

  • I've seen rookie pilots land ultralight aircraft worse than that. I'm surprised that the landing gear broke so easily.

  • You cant get more hurt falling off the bottom step. Lucky for him huh?

  • This is why I really think they should require people to have a least a private to fly even ultralights...

  • Your an ignorant ass.

  • @MackinacIs.. its a better hobby than sat posting shit comments on you tube looser

  • @mark675 That's a good point. But you're posting comments...aren't you?

By the way, "loser" is spelled with one "o". Good luck in life.

  • ooh god i knew that happened i knew it

  • That bitch did not know shit.

  • Cool.....Cool.....Cool.......Spat! Foolish.

  • awsome

  • I see a ton of qualified comments here...So I just save mine for later...

  • ultralights have a stall speed of about 15mph maybe next time slow down to land, then your landing gear (bicycle tires) will hold up...

  • @bahnkla4 wow! , Id like to have one of those " stalls at 15 mph " ultralights ! Even my Quicksilver stalls at 25 ish and it is alot lighter than his kolb is .

  • i would have luaghed so freakin hard if when she was running out there she tripped and someone else said" i knew that would happen" LOL!

  • she knew that will happend, she dreamed last night that the "plane" will lose his right weel

    woman ~ XD

  • @dimovskigoran girls!!!!! you Know

  • Come on guys. He clearly landed in the rough with a very light tail dragger. Of course he's going to flip. Now if he had that tail down before he hit the rough, maybe he would have been alright. I do agree to the lack of skill. From the sound of his wife/girlfriend's reaction, I would say first time landing?

  • I knew that would happen too considering his high sink rate and power pull at 50 feet..

  • She knew that would happen? Wow! Hey buddy-sell the encyclopedias because you've got a know it all at home!

  • Thats awesome..i'm stealing that.

  • why do women always say " i knew that was gonna happen" ? maybe theyre psycho, I mean psychic........

  • @CLayaway1 LIFE INSURANCE,,,,LOL

  • i knew too :D

  • Looks like his lawn chair folded up.

  • LMAO

  • Plenty of ultralite manufacturers don't take the landing gear design seriously.Often too weak or not enough travel. After all, they are building flying machines ,not off road vehicles. This is the result.

  • If you have no skill or judement, you will screw up your landings and will probably kill yourself. Same goes for a Car, motorcycles, or any vehicle. Even airliners have to be landed correctly, if they were landed with this poor a skill, hundreds of passengers would die every day. Bottom line, its up to the PILOT, its not the airplanes fault you cant fly it. Probably a good thing you did not continue, you obviously dont have what it takes and made a good choice to stay on the ground.

  • I thought I filled all those damn gopher holes

  • You knew the landing gear would fail?

Did you loosen or cut the landing gear woman!!

  • what-s the fuss all about? She expresses her initial fears in her own way. either this rudder had reached breaking point due to fatigue or there was a hole in the runway. Landing was a little rough ( that may well cause the fatigue)

  • Rudder?

  • rudder peddles failed due to fatigue and hard landings. happens all the time

  • Rudder peddal failed lol.....

The pilot failed to flair and his airspeed was too slow as he has a high angle of attack after he pulls the power something thatr needs to be countered in a pusher right?

  • Looks like he came in too fast & cut the power too early.

  • im the piolets son and have this vid on here...and i fully agree with you, he doesnt seem to think that haha but whatever lol

  • so wat was the reason of the crash

  • What does he say went wrong? :)

  • @Steve181

Your statement is contradicting. I agree is was fast. All he needed to do was bleed of more speed in the flare.

  • P.S. It looks like the right wheel colapsed under the weight of the plane when he touched down a little hard. That's why the nose dug into the dirt.

  • At the very end, you can see the pilot climb out on his own legs. So she says she knew that would happen? She must've dug that hole that he landed in?

  • She knew? DEMON! DEMON!!

    BURN HER!

  • I knew she was going to say "I knew that would happen."

  • that woman said she knew that would happen? she needs to be brought home and ass fucked repeatedly.

  • wow thats funny!

  • damn...

  • did he snap his leg? it was the rudder peddles that dug into the ground...

  • do'h!!!

  • Next time you go flying leave that whinging bitch at home.

  • " I knew that was gonna happen" Give her a slapping!!!

  • lol

  • She must be one of those people who think airplanes will kill you no matter what you do. I am here to tell HER that she isn't God! she don't know the difference between her ass and a hole in the wall! lol!

  • just proves that women are fucking annoying in just about every situation

  • it could be prevented easily

  • isn't a crash

is a bad landing no more

  • his landing wasn't nearly hard enough to cause that,,,,kolb gear it known for being too weak.

  • I knew she was gonna say that

  • lol.

    actualy she sabotage the plane

thats y she knew that would happen

  • She "knew it would happen"? Yeah right! How about giving me a tip on a hot stock?

  • I hate it when some naysayer says, "I knew that was going to happen". Had he landed successfully would she have said the same?

  • ha ha love it! I knew it!

  • She knew it - I bet the light off her crystal ball dazzled the pilot

  • Umm landing gear check.... umm yes head for runway.... what next... ummm.... yeah... CRASH... oh yeah flair off i knew i forgot something.

  • i knew it.

    i knew it.

  • Yes the landing was a bit hard, but the way it looked to me,the landing gear wasn't up to the task.I fly a dragonfly, and if you smack it in too hard all you do is bend the landing gear legs a bit.

  • to hotties...

  • he wanted to use the feet like the flintstones to stop the aircraft!!!!

  • You can tell exactly what happened here if you having any flight time at all in any aircraft. Inexperience was a major factor. The plane was way to hot on final. Sounds like he pulled the throttle right before touchdown. He probably could have avoided the accident still if he had not have touched down solely on the right rear gear first. Too much weight on the gear because of excessive momentum from overspeed on landing.

  • I concur. It was obvious the minute I saw it. Pretty lousy glide abilities of that thing though. The minute he killed the throttle it just dropped like a rock. He'd have been better off coming in just a hair faster horizontally and sparing all that vertical speed. Eeesh.

  • Inexperience was doubtless a factor, but he wasn't too hot. On the contrary, he was two slow and started his flare too high. The UltraStar actually has a very good glide as ultralights go, but like all ultralights it has little inertia, so you need to keep the nose down and keep the speed up right down to the gound... which he didn't do.

  • you aint supposed to land vertically dude, use a trickle of power to 'fly her on'. I fly many types of aircraft and only a few will land ok with zero thrust. Were u qualified i ask myself!

  • what pish

  • nope landing gear failed

  • She brought him bad luck...If she had stayed home and been watching the kids LIKE SHE SHOULD BE DOING ANYWAY>>>>This would NEVER had happened..

  • I don't agree with the opinion that a woman's assignment is just to watch kids, but we all know how stupid a man could be in women presence...:)

  • she wanted someone to get hurt thats why she knew it.

  • hahahaha....

  • I knew there would be some chick on there saying I knew that would happen.

  • ROFL! This is the best commment I have ever read in years! LMAO

  • Why is it that whenever a accident occurs, there's some psychic chick that just "kenw" it would happen. Yet their powers of predicting the future are rarely applied before hand.

  • Yep, those chicks make me want to turn queer.

  • LOL

  • cant change what you already are

  • Cause chicks are idiots and they know that they'd crash immediately if they tried!! :)

  • LMAO

  • If we said anything would it MATTER? The we would be the nagging "chick" that didn't let you have fun, or the "chick" that said something and caused it. She had a bad feeling, she was in shock on the video obviously, something only a stupid "chick" would understand.

Donald I'm glad your step dad is OK. When I got my first motorcycle, my mom warned my dad not to get on it. We waved good by to her as she left the driveway, and he promptly jumped on. Ten seconds later he had dropped my bike :).

  • bah. Nag nag nag

  • rofl I thought I was going to see a real crash

  • Haha! OMG i knew that would happen! i Knew it!

  • lolll if u knew that would zhappen why didnt u tell him?

  • did not know he was gonna take his first flight

  • what was what I* wanted to say :)

  • She knew it would happen! So why not tell him beforehand!

  • 1st time he flew the plane and he did not tell anyone. my uncle gave him heck(the big guy running) he had never flown anything in his life before(which was not too smart).

  • lol

  • Thanks on all the comments every on(except from twitch15 which his name explains it all)

it was my stepdad flying and he is perfectly alright, he got the ultrastar back together bue he did not build it strong enough, the first time he was out the landing gear slowly folded while doing a mid-speed taxi

    Thanks,

    donovan

  • He touched down on the mains well enough, but his right gear appears to have caught a flaw...perhaps a rut or chuck hole... and collapsed. Hope he's all right.

  • Considering the speed an attitude i think it was a downdraft. With very light ultra lights, the turbulence from trees can be enough to cause problems.

  • I own an Ultrastar, though I've only flown it a few times so far. I don't think he was going as fast as it looks, not the angle of attack. It looks like he started his flare way too high (about 3 seconds into the clip), then at around 7 seconds it stalls and drops in... something you can NOT get away with in an Ultrastar. It is, however, a classic mistake made by pilots of general aviation ("standard") aircraft getting in an ultralight the first time.

  • So, pilot error IMO, but not as bad as most might think. The landing gear on the Ultrastar is a bit of an "achiles heel", as it was built to be very light and has no suspension other than slightly fat tires. Generally not a problem, especially on a grass strip, but an "U/S" needs a lot of care in landing. The Ultrastar is out of production now. It is a really fine aircraft and is the predecessor to a lone line of Kolbs which have long enjoyed one of the best reputations in ultralight aviation.

  • I've flown one of these (Kolb Ultrastar). Pilot seems to good margin of speed above stall (25-30mph+ on these) , running engine significantly above idle. He's coming in too "hot", cuts throttle abruptly (perhaps sensing overshoot) and seems to not anticipate reduction in lift. He looks to me to be above stall speed the entire time--a stall would proably be a little more apparent.

  • Don't be too hard on her, although I have to agree she didn't seem too worried. Not sure what went wrong, looks like the right gear collapsed. Doesn't look like pilot error, looked like a good landing, just a weak Ultra-light, which I don't recognize. Hope he was OK...

  • u got a problem ya white trash queer

  • If she knew it would happen, why didn't she tell someone ? :-)

  • listen to the crazy lady in the backround

  • hey its donovan, comment on this
