  • A band with more player.

  • Just another fill in vocalist trying to help an aging rock band from sounding and looking older. Put it this way, would you go see Led Zeppelin with out Robert Plant? Would you go see the Stones with a Jagger copycat? There are too many 70's bands trying to live up to their glory days and they are basically all train wrecks. If you want to hear a good 70's singer, listen to Roger Hodgson from Supertramp. At least he is not billing himself under the band's name.

    Paneeks/Boston

  • Some people kill me! A great performance is a great performance no matter who is doing it! This singer is excellent and there is no reason to demean his talent or compare him to Lou Gramm. This band is extremely tight and this is an excellent version of this song! Thanks for posting! Is there anything else from this show?

  • With all due respect, Rickyon...I don't see how it's possible *not* to compare this version of Foreigner with Lou Gramm's version! For 20+ years, he was the face AND voice of Foreigner...and while this band is fine, IMHO, it's not Foreigner.

Perhaps I should've been more specific in my comments. His voice is fine, but I don't care for Kelly Hansen's stage presence. (And it's NOT that he's not Lou Gramm, either!)

  • Would this mean that after David Lee Roth left, Van Halen should have folded???

  • (*rolls eyes*) No ~ I'm not saying that any original lead singer can not (or should not) be replaced. AGAIN...IN MY OPINION...I prefer the Lou Gramm-fronted Foreigner to the Kelly Hansen-fronted Foreigner.

And...for the record...I prefer the Sammy Hagar-fronted Van Halen over the DLR-fronted Van Halen. Comparisons are always going to be made...it's up to the individual listener to determine whom they prefer.

No hard and fast rules here, guys...just someone expressing an opinion.

  • I understand what you are saying, I was just using the Van Halen example to say that bands do move on.

But to play Devil's advocate... I have not heard a single, even half way, decent song come from Styx since Dennis DeYoung was booted out!!!

  • You are welcome to your opinion and in a milder approach I even agree with you! Comparisons are valid, it's just that there is this mentality that no one can replace an original,as if when someone leaves a popular band they should just disband! There are dozens of huge bands from the 70's and 80's that are doing their stuff to this day. Thank GOD with the crap that's passing for music today! Your screen name says it all!

  • Agreed, Rickyon. I've wanted to see more shows this summer than I have in the last 10 years...mostly because the great bands of the '70s and '80s are touring.

The most recent "new" band I've seen is The Jonas Brothers...but only because I took my daughter! :-)

  • Yuck ~ Lou Gramm trounces this guy.

  • @MissThe80s you are clearly stone freakin deaf.

  • @Healer1965 Oh yeah...you got me...
