@KKKn50cal That is why I adjusted the scope... and i inch low is also wrong.
My rifle is supposed to be dead on at any range I shoot at.
My last video.

A lot of you people fail to realize that I'm basically trying to record one shot a day. I'm no sighting the gun in and settling for 3 inches high at 300 yards.
ill be starting a page for my company soon. ill have bluing help, trigger changes, and other helpful stuff for the do-it-yourselfer. im a one man company. do alot of different stuff. so keep an eye out!
troolfactsforhunters troolfactsforhunters... I've had a few Axis's come across my bench. Take the entire action off of the stock, and check your spacers/shock-absorbing rubber-type supports. Alot of time, going from hot to cold and so on, is the factory glue holding them wasn't a very thick consistency. Thus, leading to slippage, and in turn throwing the barrel off every time you shoot it. I see it in alot of free float savage 200 Series rifles. the problem is fairly common
@professorironlungs i have a question i have my axis in .270 also have you had problems sighting in the original scope? i sure have so i was wondering
at 300 yards it could be variations in the ammo. hunting-grade rifle ammo has a tendency to fluctuate in velocity, even within the same box. try using match-grade or handloads to really eliminate ammo errors from your long-range shooting. good luck and happy shooting.
@ne5b The ball is a ball joint part to a tractor, it is relatively soft steel. The target behind is also steel, I had it lying around so the hardness is unknown. I know if i shoot it with the 30-06 at 200 yards there is a good chance it will damage it greatly.
@RYDERkN How do I know the miss wasn't my fault the day before? Usually people fire a group before they adjust the scope; I cut the process by two thirds.
3 in high at 300 yds is too high. It should be about 1 in low.
My 7mm Rem Mag is about dead on at the range using 160gr bt hand loads.

@lj2justgoto You zero your rifles for 300 yards?
I start by zero at 25 yards. Learned that from Jack O'Connor in the 60's. (Outdoor Life Magazine)
I'm high at (.270 Win & 7mm Rem Mag) until around 300 yrds after that the bullet drops below the line of sight.

@KKKn50cal No. I set the scope to what they are to be set at at the distance I am shooting at.
Here are the 5 shots taken with that rifle beforehand.
My sighting shots. I began at 100 yards; each shot good enough to kill but the first. THIS shot is a kill!

A test on a wated filled jug.

Anyone that finds fault with this shot is an imbecile! It is 3 inches high of center, That's good enough for a coyote let alone a deer...

@KKKn50cal If I was to sight it in at what you say to; I'd be 6 inches low!
lj2justgoto 5 days ago
@lj2justgoto You might be. I'm talking about the trajectory of any given bullet and load.
For my 7mm, zero at 25 yds is also zero at 300 yds. and about 24 in low at 500 yds.
My .270 is close to the same.
Of course my 30/30 would be closer to 10 ft low at 500 yds.
