my mom hitting almost 70 years old drank daily for 40 years and was able to stop drinking on her own without AA. She doesn't even know what AA is but just imagine if she did. Ouch!
sound s like a resentment to me...nine years not one drink...but AA didnt work. BY THE WAY we depend on a God of our understnding as a guide...not a doer of all things! I wish it were that easy. But if you found an easier softer way..."our hats are off to you". For me I HAVE FOUND HAPPY JOYOUS AND FREE....It takes daily action.
@boyd501s Hey man. Of coarse there are other ways to get sober. AA says we don't have a monopoly on this. Do your self a favor, don't listen to the people of AA, rather read the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Read the forward's of the book, in particular the first paragraph, in the forward to the first edition of the book. I sat in AA for years listening to the opinions, and nearly died. It wasn't until I read the book Alcoholics Anonymous that my life changed completely. Recovered for 26 yrs.
So glad I got out of this cult. I'd rather die of alcohol poisoning than go back. I feel sorry for the people have wasted their time in AA especially the old timers.
its funny that many of the people bashing AA and God on this page will make it into aa and find a higher power, all of us in aa were like this before we came, we all had contempt for aa, saw it as a cult, and refused to believe in a higher power

i was a heroin addict athiest, i read bills story and i got on my knees just to try it, withdrawels were lifted with no detox meds and obsession removed instantly... im an aa member
@dancarr508 Withdrawal symptons lifted instantly? Nah, sorry don't believe it, it takes 4 days for that shite to get out of your system. *in pious AA voice* Are you sure you're in the right room, young man? This is ALCOHOLICS anonymous, and you need to attend NA otherwise you will get confused and use and die!....
@godlessweasel im not asking you to believe it, im telling u it happened, and I could have ran the fuking american athiest association thats how against God I was before this happened... the human word is not the alpha and omega, we cant understand 99.99% of the world around us... are u saying the universe originated in a cipher and for no reason and means nothing? are u saying the universe of precise immutable law originated with NO intelligence?
@godlessweasel I'll never get it. why why why fucking why do you have to attack something that works for someone? why do you need to be right about it? why do you need to prove that you're so much smarter and better? why?
@dancarr508 Im a heroin addicted as well... i ATTEND ALCOHOLICS anonymous AS WELL it worked for me two years sober on march 11th Good for you my friend keep your head up and doing what your doing .... i will pray for gods will to be done in your life
LOL All AA is Sinners helping others the 12 steps came out of the Bible Its amazing how people blame everyone else for their problems The one thing takes makes everyone a sinner is Pride we are powerless over that (everyone on the face of the planet ) You cant stop yourself from judging but you can catch self after words. Thats the sin that we cant stop ourselves from doing which is comparing and judging Im 2 yrs sober i catch myself doing it almost allt he time
@dimefeet And to conclude, everyone I know in AA agrees that it is not the only solution. It works for some of us, and not for others. It is strange, to say the least, that those who it has not worked for have made it their agenda to undermine those for whom it has worked. We don't begrudge you your success in staying clean by other means. Why does it bother some ex-AA's so much that some of us have chosen to stay and work the program?
@dlanna2323 said "everyone I know in AA agrees that it is not the only solution."
I've been to several groups. They all have some members who stand up to speak and say that "You've gotta have God in your program (or life) or you won't make it."
Do they get corrected? Far from it. At the end of the meeting people stand in a circle, hold hands, and pray the Lord's Prayer.
@dlanna2323 To add, you have to want it. People who make fun of AA still have self-will run riot and haven't been beaten down enough. As we say in the rooms..don't need recovery? Go out and do more research..we'll still be here when you come back thanking God there is such a place to be welcomed back to..
@psalmsurfer1 said " As we say in the rooms..don't need recovery? Go out and do more research..we'll still be here"
Suggesting that people go out and drink is a perfect example of dangerous, ridiculous dogma and illegal dispensing of counseling (which legally requires professional training, certification, and licensing - but is routinely given by unqualified AA cult members).
You'll still be there, all right. Your cult has instilled in you the fear of leaving and actually having a life.
@ndrthrdr1 Without AA-- or God..I have no life or means to be a productive planetary citizen..left to my own devices I am a selfish arrogant prick of a person and it is only because God lifted me from the pit of hell that was alcoholism that I stand here and rebuke the naysayer such as yourself and neither you nor anyone else can ever take from me that which is the freedom from the enslavement of addiction. Selah.
@ndrthrdr1 Btw- Millions of people belong to that cult you claim. It is people like yourself who refuse to see AA for what it really is.it doesn't force anything on anyone..anyone can come and go as they please..people not in the program think it is some big religious-pushing cult and it couldn't be farther from the truth. I have seen personally the hundreds of people young and old that have gotten their life back due to AA.You have nerve
@psalmsurfer1 No, it's not true that millions belong to the cult. AA now claims to have helped over 3 million people. Many of the people died years ago and many others don't go any more. Many went for a while, got tired of the religiotards and their prayer meetings, and left but stayed sober. AA does not claim 3 million current members.
@dimefeet Sounds like sour grapes to me. You say "they try to convice us that we will fail if we leave" - who are "they"? If you mean people in AA, then I am "they".
I don't care if you leave. I really don't. I carry the message to someone who wants it. If you want to leave, and can stay sober on your own, then good for you. Nobody in AA is on the payroll, and nobody really has any investment in anyone else staying. You are speaking entirely from a subjective experience filled with bad info.
the real alcoholic has 2 symptoms. Anyone who has ever relapsed, even though they didn't want to, and didn't plan to, understands the "subtle insanity". If you stop on your own power, then good for you - you are not a real alcoholic. If you can not stop, then the 12 steps might work for you - or maybe something else will. One thing I will say about AA, is nobody ever forced me to do anything.
@dlanna2323 According to AA's own description of an alcoholic, I am one. Their website gives a checklist of indicators. I had far more on that list than AA says proves that you're an alcoholic.
I left the program, didn't drink since, and I know lots of others who had the same AA experience.
Suicide rates are much higher in AA than in other programs, because the program doesn't work. They try to convince us that we will fail if we leave. The truth is that we are more likely to fail in AA.
@dimefeet Show me those statistics please and I will leave AA when I am convinced upon reading those stats that show suicide rates are higher and the program doesn't work. I'll be waiting.
@psalmsurfer1 Have a look at your next triennial survey. Bear in mind the fact that these surveys do not take into account those who have been attending for years, even decades, and fail to abstain, or short term attendees, otherwise their pathetic 3% 'success' rate would be even lower. In 9 years I personally knew 17 people who successfully suicided, and too many to count who attempted and thankfully failed, myself included. Sorry to piss on your bonfire, but that's just not normal.
@dimefeet bullshit. Andjust because they quit doesn't mean they are happy; they are most likely restless miserable and are dry angry drunks? Why you ask? Because they haven't done the damn step work that cuts to the core of why they drank and drugged in the first place. They haven't dealt with the spiritual malady..didnt deal with the anger, the hurts, the rejections, the depression, the despair the resentments the fear should I go on?
@psalmsurfer1 Step work? That involves believing that you're telepathically communicating with an invisible wizard. That's what prayer is. It's delusional and pathetic.
Proof that the program doesn't work? Simply write down the number of one day chips given out, along with the number of ten and twenty year chips. Hardly anyone succeeds in AA, but the few that quit ignore the vastly larger number who leave.
Suicide rates? Watch and see. Your cult is killing people, and you're helping.
@psalmsurfer1 Why not pray to your imaginary friend that I leave you alone? We both know why not. Deep down, you know that prayer does nothing. That's why AA doesn't work.
I got Clean and sober through AA and haven't had a drink or drug for over 24 yrs now. i also stop smoking 3 pks a day thru the 12 step to. I know many with 20yrs plus who have done same. it works for me and may others but its not the only way.what i found in AA 12 steps is i got clean sober and at peace inside with a lot more happiness then i even known . i went to AA tostop drinking it Saved my life . btw it got me off the Mental health drugs too. mind body and soul right choice 4 me
All I ever got was "do as we say and shut up" every time I called someone for help I always got the SAME answer: "Get your ass to a meeting, oh yeah, and do as we say and shut up" Yeah, real helpful! If this new Cult Generation new the true history, the truth about was AA WAS and is NO LONGER they would understand, but they cant understand because they too are being told "do as we say and shut up!" the first page in the BB says we have RECOVERED and I have recoverED!
christ sake. powerless is mentioned once in the big book, power is mentioned loads of times. once we get some power in our lives again then alcohol ceases even to be an issue. like any fellowship, for example buddhist meditation fellowship, people meet, because being human beings we get complacent and start to drop off things.. hence meetings also to help new people! aa doesnt say you cannot think - it provides tools to question your motives.. much different... thats only 0.52 into the vid..
AA is potentially a very dangerous place for the alcoholic with any modicum of intelligence. It's simply a cult that's 'dressed up' as an altruistic fellowship, it's often full of sexual predators and egomaniacs (self appointed leaders) you all know who they are :)
I'd suggest Rational Recovery. Take responsibility for your life, and tame your Beast.
Why does every idiot on youtube think that if they upload some annoying fucking piece of music to their video that that somehow makes their self-important "message" more powerful? Guess what: it makes you look like even more of an imbecile.
5% of people who attend a 12 step programme stay clean long term,5% of people who stop drinking/using without attending a 12 step programme also stay clean long term.so basically if you really want to stop drinking / using you will meetings or not , i would suspect that the 5% are the ones that actually want to get clean as opposed to the other 95% who are one way or another coerced into attending meetings.peace. x
i've got a family member who clean/sober 8 years ago - say's it was due to trying the 12 step fellowship. i remember him before and i think that "brainwashing", sponsership and the rest saved his life and gave as all a new start with him - we also checked out "alanon" - none of it was anything like the negative stuff here. i work in community welfare (homelessness) - i don't know any "flawless" groups who do advocate for "fellowship" - i really think people should keep trying.
AA isn't for everyone, but I've seen a large percentage of alcoholics attending meetings who've achieved decades of sobriety by working the steps. I think that some people may find answers and happiness in it and we could probably let them.
I have been to AA. It is repetative dogma. For anyone who's about to defend it, ask yourself - were you ever really asked to think for yourself in a meeting? If you are about to answer yes, then I assume you haven't heard the following phrases time after time: "keep coming back", "people pleaser", "fake it to make it", "get off the pity pot", "gratitude list"..... shall I go on? Read the definition of brainwashing. Decide for yourself. Or go on blindly as a sheep, watching people get worse.
I thought it was funny in meetings when the group would respond to the reading of the question "Are these extraordinary promises?" by saying in unison "We think not."
like robots. Thanks for the videos. We share the desire to help people escape from the cult and succeed.
Godlessweasel, don't listen to all these assholes. They're just angry and bitter that you have the ability to think for yourself. I quit drinking recently without AA or any other support group. As a matter of fact, every time I walked into an AA meeting all I wanted to do was walk out and find the nearest dive bar. AA is proof that you can still be a slave to alcohol, even when you're not drinking it. Good video.
This video is complete nonsense made by someone with a big resentment because they got their feeling hurt in a meeting. Someone who is probably in deep denial and doesn't want to hear what they need to hear. They only want to hear what they want to hear. "So I'll show you"I'll go on stupid YouTube and make stupid videos how I was mistreated so badly and put that with a stupid Irish rebel song as background music to make it more dramatic. Grow up silly fool
@godlessweasel Sorry, never going to happen. I and guys like me, will be there waiting to tell the newcomer the real message of AA, not the watered down version that you heard. Your hatred for AA is a direct result of the message carried by the "AA Lifer"and his watered down message. Sorry this happened to you.
@miket1m Go on son. you know this. If I hear one more person say keep coming back just dont drink/use or Hugs not drugs, I will eat my own face. This man was obviously not taken through the step's as me and you know it. I have tried everything else godlesswiesel and it did not work for me so what do you suggest that I do my friend. You may not be a real alcoholic hence you became so resentfull in meetings. Good luck to you my friend and I hope you live a long and happy life. U may B a lucky one!
There you go. Here is a member of AA who has taken the steps and has recovered. He is not institutionalized by AA meetings and is probably living life on lifes terms and all this a result of AA's 12 steps. He did mention something interesting, maybe you're not a real alcoholic. AA was THE greatest spiritual movement of the 20th century.
@godlessweasel Right on, great response!! By the way, is that a weasel or a ferret? Whatever it is very cute, and a much better sponsor I'll bet than our friend Mike, eh?
@miket1m I must disagree my friend. I too was a member for some time, who is now free both of alcohol and AA and, though life has its ups and downs, I am basically quite content. You on the other hand remind my of the many angry and defensive members I had to contend with while in AA, and are very much the reason I quit. I won't say there aren't some "good" meetings, but there is a growing and dominating fundamentalism in AA that I refused to see while I was a member.
@Dancinstan1 AA's Third Tradition reads: "The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to quit drinking." I think its logical to conclude that there are some non alcoholics in AA. Those who can quit and stay stopped on their own will power. A real alcoholic can't stop on his own will power. He has a mental obsession that condemns him to drink and a physical allergy that condemns him to die.
I would say, you probably are not a real alcoholic. Glad someone like you is not in AA anyway. Thx
@miket1m So Mike, not knowing me or any of my story you can conclude that I'm not an alcoholic. Wow, do you have your own psychic hotline as well? I'll have to say I'm glad I realized I don't have to sit in rooms and listen to self righteous people such as yourself. But enjoy your life in the meetings, spouting meaningless platitudes and pretending you live a life of peace and serenity. I know, I did the same for a while, but decided I just couldn't tolerate being a hypocrite.
@Dancinstan1 Are you sober dipshit? You're an egotistical maniac with a low self esteem. You think everyone thinks they're better than you? Well what you think and what is reality are two different things. You think all of AA is like the dump you visited? Sounds like you people all ran into a bunch of sickos walking around with a real bad case of untreated alcoholism. Thats not AA
@miket1m So Mike, you don't have anything constructive to say so you try to insult me. That's sure the way to exhibit the mature serenity that the steps promise. You disagree with me, so be it. Take a deep breath, call your sponsor. I agree that what one thinks is true and what is true can be two different things. One of the many mindless platitudes I recall is when you're pointing a finger at someone else you've got four pointing right back at yourself. Might consider that.
@Dancinstan1 You think I'm trying to insult you? Not at all, I don't see it. I know what I am. I am a recovered alcoholic. You didn't answer my question. Are you sober?
Great video.I've recently emancipated myself from this bizarre cult.I went to AA because I had a drinking problem, only to be told that I was spiritually sick and that I'd always be sick and my only hope were the mandates of Bill Wilson.AA has flourished because it keeps people sick and dependent on the group. And it's the only place where peanuts, who have only read one book in their life, feel they can preach about morality to vulnerable people in order to get a sense of superiority.
@henryporter101 Well tell me there Mr Judge, are you dry at the moment? I doubt it. If you're an alcoholic and you want to stop and stay stopped, go back to AA and stop your whining.
@miket1m My oh my you're really on a roll aren't you Mike. Don't you have a meeting to go to or some other more productive activity? It must be nice to have all the answers and psychic abilities as well, I'm very impressed.
@Dancinstan1 It doesn't take much to tell what this shit does to you. We all suffer from the same symptoms. You don't need a crystal ball to tell whats happening if you're a real alcoholic and not doing what you need to do. If you are staying sober without spiritual help, then you are probably not a real alcoholic yes.
What I don't understand is that the court systems seems hellbent on forcing this on people. As long as you quit, who cares how you do it. I agree - I think this group is just horrible with it's shame-based methodology. Thanks for the vid.
Great version of a great song.Donal914,recovering alcoholic,part of a wonderful fellowship.still crazy,wild yet responsible,funny yet deep,leaving a happy home most days.My sobriety!!
I used to go to AA meetings. It seemed to me like a bunch of people all trying to be comedians. Speakers don't give a crap about helping other people stay sober. All they care about is how many people they can make laugh with their stand-up routine. Throw a few monotonous AA phrases like "cunning, baffling" in there and you got someone's "story".
Right on man. I'm glad you came to believe that you DO have power over your drug of choice and you CAN fully recover. I used to be a 2 fisted drunk and I haven't drank in years no thanks to AA. Tried it for a while, didn't like the way they made me feel like I had no power and was insane. Decided to leave. Haven't drank since. End of Story.
@lowbottomranch I DO have a God in my life, The TRUE one, not the fake AA self-created one, because someone forwardly counters 12stepism does not translate to "anger and resentment" you know what breeds resentment? watching some AA creep telling a rape victim to "find their part in it"....
Too bad AA is run by the devil and god has nothing to do with brainwashing and people being led BLINDLY by what the ELDERS with more sobriety say and those who claim authority automatically by having "more time".. what a crock of shit.
Anonymity is non existent in AA. With the advent of button size video cameras and members spilling there guts and not realizing what they say there may be on video? If you are planning to go to a AA meeting I would think twice about what you say there. Scary thought, is it not?
i'm in AA, its great, not for everyone, i'm glad you found something that works!!! I really don't care if people choose aa or not all i care about is people getting sober anyway possible. We should all be in this together since so many die because from it.
@jmeff21 Lovely to see someone from AA who genuinely cares about people on this channel - most just stop by here looking for an argument! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
AA, as far as I am concerned, is not much of anything -- a cipher. It has next to nothing to do with quitting drinking -- how many have already quit prior to attending AA - it is, essentially, an ersatz social club. People stay in AA because they want to stay. It suits them, for their own personal reasons.
@dix345 Excellent analysis! You said it all. the tragedy is that 12-Steps is being promoted as a clinical intervention. But it is--in reality--a pseudo-religious social movement of fanatics and people with incredibly low self-esteem and emotional/psychological dependency issues.
In the AA group here in Biel/Bienne Switzerland 3 suicides happened. Responsible is my ex sponsor Boaz Sharif- He said to - they did not what I said to them--- he will pay for this :-)
sorry to hear that, it happens here in L.A as well with sponsers inducing fear in newcomers. After 11 years I still get sucidal thoughts and that was something I never ever had when I used.
Being around people all the time who continue put themselves down can have that effect I think. My depression and anxiety has gotten away better since I started to question the program and gradually started de-programming myself.
@godlessweasel Its almost as if you where dirking for a reason if you developed problems after your quit. Alcohol the solution, for awhile, not the problem. Its that anxiety and depression which needs to be dealt with. Why not go to a psychologist or psychiatrist, or anxiety groups as well. By the way those things are suggested in the big book. I don't know about you but i like hope, and all these videos give no hope, no alternatives, just hate, its really really sad
@theral66 Everyone drinks for a reason - they enjoy it! lt is a lifestyle choice, not a disease. As for the rest, nice ASSumption, but oddly enough the anxiety/depression disappeared as if by magic on leaving AA, and l can suggest a list of alternateves as long as your arm - alternatives that WORK. AA is 97% inneffective,
@theral66 ctd and the suicide rates and incidences of mental illness are appalling. Not suprising really seeing as all that is on offer are parrotted slogans and a lifetime of demoralising claptrap. Where is the hope in that? I offer hope to those who see this happening and are told it must be their fault as the program never fails - that is a poisonous lie.
@godlessweasel There is a lot of hope in A.A meetings, I don't know where you went to A.A. If you knew anything about A.A, no one is ever scrutinized or ruthlessly blamed for a relapse. Oh those in addition to slogans there is actually steps, and sponsors and doctors. all give give hope. You don't give hope, where in your video do you give hope, where are the alternatives, Your not doing any good, you just had a bitter experience and used youtube to vent.
@theral66 Don't make me laugh - AA is the same the world over! Of course nobody is blamed when they choose to drink or relapse as you call it - it just proves that they have an imaginary disease. This is why the gouls tell people they are powerless - they would rather someone died drunk than proved them wrong by straightening up without AA. Doctors? People are actively discouraged from seeing their doctors!
@theral66 ctd the experience of many bears this out, as does YT user geoffrey halliday's bullshit video about prescription drugs. Have you actually watched all of these? There are a lot of them. Alternatives = detox, councilling, AVRT, RR, SMART, SOS, subutex, suboxone, harm reduction, methadone detox/maintainence, naltrexone, blah, blah, blah... or you could always just STOP...
@godlessweasel those are are excellent alternatives, i have a friend in smart recovery. I also went to detox, and I go to counseling, why ever would you want to block me, you don't want to be my friend
I meet my ex sponsor a few days ago... he is such a weak person...
I made my way , have an ownengineering company and I am succesfull in all PARTS of life.... I PISS ON AA/XA they are perverse, ugly assholes ---- sorry---thats only for insiders... I wish that they were arrested and pay for their LIES.... these shlmy assholes full of shit--- may they die --- thats the best for all poeples .. that is only a smart calculation.. and what i see as a realist
And it's not that I don't know some very wonderful people with long term sobriety. AA is not without people who make that system work for them, and more power to them [even though they're "powerless"-LOL]
My issue is that people trade their addition one for another - endless meetings with folks who bitch about the same shit day after day. NO THANKS!
I guess if one is "POWERLESS" that's the only ticket, but who breathing is really powerless? Nobody!
Well, that's because those other programs don't work as well as AA. AA works 100% of the time for those who never go back to drinking. That's impressive!
The other 97% of failures have only themselves to blame, because it works it you work it. And if you believe any of this shit, how 'bout some nice ocean front property in Dayton Ohio?
No, AA is really a trap for people who can't handle life and need a replacement crutch for the booze they stopped drinking. Me? I'll take the booze!
Thank you, and ditto. I remember what life was like, and that existence is totally alien today. I still can't believe I allowed my life to become so pathetic.
oh great, I've been in AA for 2 years and I've had this inkling for awhile now as I am in this program allowing myself to be programmed that it is flawed, the people are flawed and the fear and guilt that I am carrying around in opes of a better life, oh and don't leave before the miracle happens, well fuck I won't but it hasn't happened yet so maybe in 2 more years I'll check back in here and let you know but for now, I have no other choice...what a life sober especially after working the steps
I left AA and practice Rational Recovery while maintaining my spiritual faith. It was like being set free!
Gone are the days where I have to rush off to a meeting every time life doesn't go my way. And gone with the wind are the constant issues I confront that may lead me to drink or use - sigh.....
I was set free of my desires to drink, use and piss and moan in endless meetings where people drone on and on, repeating the same lies over and over.
Excellent! I really hope that AA zealots watch this upload all the way through. Maybe then they'll realise that the world doesn't revolve around their repetitive ego-maniacal self absorption (poor sods). I do feel sorry for those indoctrinated into the lie, though. Thank the-higher-power (sorry, couldn't resist it) that people like yourself have the courage to say it like it is.
SICK PEOPLE DON't GO TO AA OR NA TO GET BETTER . THEY GO THERE TO STAY SICK AND BE AROUND OTHER SICK PEOPLE SO THEY DON'T FEEL SO ALONE. JAIL INSTITUTIONS AND DEATH, WHAT A HELL OF PASTULIT TO LIVE BY.
@SCIENTOLOGY2012 i guess you never had a problem yourself or loved anyone who did? you are very uninformed and have alot of prejudice. i hope none of your loved ones gets killed by a drunk driver. if that happened, and it can... you might sing another tune
No prejudice here; only facts. AA's own numbers measuring recidivism reveal a 95%+ failure rate. That's shit. And having been to AA, I see the same dumb ass people bitching about their same fucked up lives year after year.
There is no end game; no victory.
I found an alternative and have been set free of my addictions with no need of support groups. And having shrugged off those 12 step shackles, I know a victory AA folk can never know so long as they remain in bondage.
my mom hitting almost 70 years old drank daily for 40 years and was able to stop drinking on her own without AA. She doesn't even know what AA is but just imagine if she did. Ouch!

Isn't it better to do stuff on your own rather than have God do everything for you ?
Do we really need another social group stuck in there inabilty to do things on there own?
Do we really need any group of people believing there way is the only way?
Can't mainstream America ever get it right?

So glad I got out of this cult. I'd rather die of alcohol poisoning than go back. I feel sorry for the people have wasted their time in AA especially the old timers.

Why does it bother some ex-AA's so much that some of us have chosen to stay and work the program?
dlanna2323 3 months ago
@dlanna2323 said "everyone I know in AA agrees that it is not the only solution."
I've been to several groups. They all have some members who stand up to speak and say that "You've gotta have God in your program (or life) or you won't make it."
Do they get corrected? Far from it. At the end of the meeting people stand in a circle, hold hands, and pray the Lord's Prayer.
"Spiritual not religious" my ass.
ndrthrdr1 3 months ago
@dlanna2323 To add, you have to want it. People who make fun of AA still have self-will run riot and haven't been beaten down enough. As we say in the rooms..don't need recovery? Go out and do more research..we'll still be here when you come back thanking God there is such a place to be welcomed back to..
psalmsurfer1 1 month ago
@psalmsurfer1 said " As we say in the rooms..don't need recovery? Go out and do more research..we'll still be here"
Suggesting that people go out and drink is a perfect example of dangerous, ridiculous dogma and illegal dispensing of counseling (which legally requires professional training, certification, and licensing - but is routinely given by unqualified AA cult members).
You'll still be there, all right. Your cult has instilled in you the fear of leaving and actually having a life.
ndrthrdr1 1 month ago
@ndrthrdr1 Without AA-- or God..I have no life or means to be a productive planetary citizen..left to my own devices I am a selfish arrogant prick of a person and it is only because God lifted me from the pit of hell that was alcoholism that I stand here and rebuke the naysayer such as yourself and neither you nor anyone else can ever take from me that which is the freedom from the enslavement of addiction. Selah.
psalmsurfer1 1 month ago
@ndrthrdr1 Btw- Millions of people belong to that cult you claim. It is people like yourself who refuse to see AA for what it really is.it doesn't force anything on anyone..anyone can come and go as they please..people not in the program think it is some big religious-pushing cult and it couldn't be farther from the truth. I have seen personally the hundreds of people young and old that have gotten their life back due to AA.You have nerve
psalmsurfer1 1 month ago
@psalmsurfer1 No, it's not true that millions belong to the cult. AA now claims to have helped over 3 million people. Many of the people died years ago and many others don't go any more. Many went for a while, got tired of the religiotards and their prayer meetings, and left but stayed sober. AA does not claim 3 million current members.
ndrthrdr1 1 month ago

One thing I will say about AA, is nobody ever forced me to do anything.
dlanna2323 3 months ago
@dlanna2323 According to AA's own description of an alcoholic, I am one. Their website gives a checklist of indicators. I had far more on that list than AA says proves that you're an alcoholic.
I left the program, didn't drink since, and I know lots of others who had the same AA experience.
Suicide rates are much higher in AA than in other programs, because the program doesn't work. They try to convince us that we will fail if we leave. The truth is that we are more likely to fail in AA.
dimefeet 3 months ago
@dimefeet Show me those statistics please and I will leave AA when I am convinced upon reading those stats that show suicide rates are higher and the program doesn't work. I'll be waiting.
psalmsurfer1 1 month ago
@psalmsurfer1 Have a look at your next triennial survey. Bear in mind the fact that these surveys do not take into account those who have been attending for years, even decades, and fail to abstain, or short term attendees, otherwise their pathetic 3% 'success' rate would be even lower. In 9 years I personally knew 17 people who successfully suicided, and too many to count who attempted and thankfully failed, myself included. Sorry to piss on your bonfire, but that's just not normal.
godlessweasel 1 month ago
@dlanna2323 AA says that if you quit without them, you aren't a "real alcoholic".
The fact is that most alcoholics who quit do it without AA.
dimefeet 3 months ago
@dimefeet bullshit. Andjust because they quit doesn't mean they are happy; they are most likely restless miserable and are dry angry drunks? Why you ask? Because they haven't done the damn step work that cuts to the core of why they drank and drugged in the first place. They haven't dealt with the spiritual malady..didnt deal with the anger, the hurts, the rejections, the depression, the despair the resentments the fear should I go on?
psalmsurfer1 1 month ago
@psalmsurfer1 Step work? That involves believing that you're telepathically communicating with an invisible wizard. That's what prayer is. It's delusional and pathetic.
Proof that the program doesn't work? Simply write down the number of one day chips given out, along with the number of ten and twenty year chips. Hardly anyone succeeds in AA, but the few that quit ignore the vastly larger number who leave.
Suicide rates? Watch and see. Your cult is killing people, and you're helping.
ndrthrdr1 1 month ago
@psalmsurfer1 Spiritual malady? That means that your spirit is sick. A spirit is a ghost.

christ sake. powerless is mentioned once in the big book, power is mentioned loads of times. once we get some power in our lives again then alcohol ceases even to be an issue. like any fellowship, for example buddhist meditation fellowship, people meet, because being human beings we get complacent and start to drop off things.. hence meetings also to help new people! aa doesnt say you cannot think - it provides tools to question your motives.. much different... thats only 0.52 into the vid..

MrmachineELF 6 months ago
i've got a family member who clean/sober 8 years ago - say's it was due to trying the 12 step fellowship. i remember him before and i think that "brainwashing", sponsership and the rest saved his life and gave as all a new start with him - we also checked out "alanon" - none of it was anything like the negative stuff here. i work in community welfare (homelessness) - i don't know any "flawless" groups who do advocate for "fellowship" - i really think people should keep trying.

Godlessweasel, don't listen to all these assholes. They're just angry and bitter that you have the ability to think for yourself. I quit drinking recently without AA or any other support group. AA is proof that you can still be a slave to alcohol, even when you're not drinking it. Good video.

AA was THE greatest spiritual movement of the 20th century.

Dancinstan1 9 months ago
@Dancinstan1 AA's Third Tradition reads: "The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to quit drinking." I think its logical to conclude that there are some non alcoholics in AA. Those who can quit and stay stopped on their own will power. A real alcoholic can't stop on his own will power. He has a mental obsession that condemns him to drink and a physical allergy that condemns him to die.
I would say, you probably are not a real alcoholic. Glad someone like you is not in AA anyway. Thx
miket1m 9 months ago
@miket1m So Mike, not knowing me or any of my story you can conclude that I'm not an alcoholic. Wow, do you have your own psychic hotline as well? I'll have to say I'm glad I realized I don't have to sit in rooms and listen to self righteous people such as yourself. But enjoy your life in the meetings, spouting meaningless platitudes and pretending you live a life of peace and serenity. I know, I did the same for a while, but decided I just couldn't tolerate being a hypocrite.
Dancinstan1 9 months ago
@Dancinstan1 Are you sober dipshit? You're an egotistical maniac with a low self esteem. You think everyone thinks they're better than you? Well what you think and what is reality are two different things. You think all of AA is like the dump you visited? Sounds like you people all ran into a bunch of sickos walking around with a real bad case of untreated alcoholism. Thats not AA
miket1m 9 months ago
@miket1m So Mike, you don't have anything constructive to say so you try to insult me. That's sure the way to exhibit the mature serenity that the steps promise. You disagree with me, so be it. AA, as far as I am concerned, is not much of anything -- a cipher. It has next to nothing to do with quitting drinking -- how many have already quit prior to attending AA - it is, essentially, an ersatz social club. People stay in AA because they want to stay. It suits them, for their own personal reasons.
dix345 1 year ago
@dix345 Excellent analysis! You said it all. the tragedy is that 12-Steps is being promoted as a clinical intervention. But it is--in reality--a pseudo-religious social movement of fanatics and people with incredibly low self-esteem and emotional/psychological dependency issues.

@godlessweasel There is a lot of hope in A.A meetings, I don't know where you went to A.A. If you knew anything about A.A, no one is ever scrutinized or ruthlessly blamed for a relapse. Doctors? People are actively discouraged from seeing their doctors!
godlessweasel 1 year ago
@theral66 ctd the experience of many bears this out, as does YT user geoffrey halliday's bullshit video about prescription drugs. Have you actually watched all of these? There are a lot of them. Alternatives = detox, councilling, AVRT, RR, SMART, SOS, subutex, suboxone, harm reduction, methadone detox/maintainence, naltrexone, blah, blah, blah... or you could always just STOP...
Any more adhom will get you blocked
godlessweasel 1 year ago
@godlessweasel those are are excellent alternatives, i have a friend in smart recovery. I also went to detox, and I go to counseling, why ever would you want to block me, you don't want to be my friend

AA is CRIMINAL
I meet my ex sponsor a few days ago... he is such a weak person...
I made my way , have an ownengineering company and I am succesfull in all PARTS of life.... I PISS ON AA/XA they are perverse, ugly assholes ---- sorry---thats only for insiders... I wish that they were arrested and pay for their LIES.... these shlmy assholes full of shit--- may they die --- thats the best for all poeples .. that is only a smart calculation.. and what i see as a realist

AA is a bad cult--- a deadly bad bad bad bad cult ,,,, a bad cult .. poeple in aa are bader tahan..... it is a so such BAD BAD BAD C U L T

I got my ass out of there so fast. My God!
Nobody!

great video, keep up the good work:-)

AA actively discourages people from looking to alternatives to the AA.
lighwave 2 years ago

Never again, and again, thank you.

oh great, I've been in AA for 2 years and I've had this inkling for awhile now as I am in this program allowing myself to be programmed that it is flawed, the people are flawed and the fear and guilt that I am carrying around in opes of a better life, oh and don't leave before the miracle happens, well fuck I won't but it hasn't happened yet so maybe in 2 more years I'll check back in here and let you know but for now, I have no other choice...what a life sober especially after working the steps
greghuck1 2 years ago
Contrary to what you have probably been told in AA, you DO have choices - there are a lot of fantastic alternatives available.
Google SMART and Rational Recovery.
They are simple, effective and don't involve life-long commitment to meetiongs or having to believe in any mumbo-jumbo.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by.
godlessweasel 2 years ago
I left AA and practice Rational Recovery while maintaining my spiritual faith. It was like being set free!
Gone are the days where I have to rush off to a meeting every time life doesn't go my way. And gone with the wind are the constant issues I confront that may lead me to drink or use - sigh.....
I was set free of my desires to drink, use and piss and moan in endless meetings where people drone on and on, repeating the same lies over and over.
I'll never return to that bondage.

HELL being the operative word.
godlessweasel 2 years ago
@SCIENTOLOGY2012 i guess you never had a problem yourself or loved anyone who did? you are very uninformed and have alot of prejudice. i hope none of your loved ones gets killed by a drunk driver. if that happened, and it can... you might sing another tune
bevhatle 2 years ago
No prejudice here; only facts. AA's own numbers measuring recidivism reveal a 95%+ failure rate. That's shit. And having been to AA, I see the same dumb ass people bitching about their same fucked up lives year after year.
There is no end game; no victory.
I found an alternative and have been set free of my addictions with no need of support groups. And having shrugged off those 12 step shackles, I know a victory AA folk can never know so long as they remain in bondage.
Very Sad...
