The OPT was the 'Old Purple Tin' of Tennent's Superlager, a one-time rival to Carlsberg's gold canned superlager.
I was in Goa the year before and bought this as soon as I heard it, so I have a once-played [and ripped] 12" single of this and 'Mao Tse Tung said' to be upped to Ebay cos I need the money. One thing's for sure - no consciousness raising going on in Goa in 1994 so who knows what's being raised there now.
By the way, if you ever get the chance to see the Alabamas live, take it.

I'm way up there in Scotland too - saw them at the Carling Academy with my pal Danny and my son who was about 16 or 17 then. He loved it - I lost him to the mosh pit after about ten minutes! Waiting for a chance to get my 14 year old daugter into an A3 gig sometime soon.

@im4out I was a kid about a mile away from the Carling - it was a cinema on the 60s. There are no cool bars there to speak of. We went into the Glaswegian, which is a well known Rangers pub. Danny is the opposite of a Rangers fan, so he had to thole the decoration to have a few beers.

Goa is the Ibiza of Asia as well as KPP in thailand, goa is full of wanna be hippies and junkies, it used to be a paradise but now, just overpriced with Russian hookers, if you wanna go to India then go to India, this song is Ironic and should stay that way.
@TheBagsu23 I think this is the point of the song, how there's this whole spirituality that's sold to western folks and appeals because it's exotic, but it's really not worth it to go.
