  • Hey can someone explain to me the horizantal spin, the way he explained it was different from when he did it at regular speed

  • when the staff got longer i was like wth

  • Can I please ask where you got that Bo from? I love the color scheme of it. I would like to invest in one!

  • Your a bit flashy

  • How in the holy hell is one little wrist flick with a tinfoil covered toothpick a "powerful attack"?

  • @fauteupb Have you never been hit with a stick before?

  • @Creativesucks The sticks I've been hit with are about four pounds of solid white oak, and we put more into it than sissy wrist flicks. :-/

  • @fauteupb I understand your point. I would certainly not want to be hit, full tilt, with a solid oak quarterstaff. However, even with a light aluminum weapon location of the blow can mean a lot more than the force behind it. Also, during an engagement one might not have the room or time to swing full on. Lastly, and I think most important in this case, it's probably just a practice bo. I'm with you, though, I only practice with real weight weapons.

  • Where can I buy the same bo that you have?

  • where do you buy these things??? any place $50 or less (that are not fire ones). my friend and i are looking everywhere for inexpensive ones even if its a cheap $50 LED staff

  • @gemgen101 you can make one go to lowes or someting then buy some dow rod about you height (i think tht how you spell it) then you can stain the dow rod or rap it in you favorite color of elictrical tape or any colored tape

  • @MrPERSONALeffects i know hula hoopers (cuz i am one) use grip tape(not as strong as skateboard grip tape btw) and worse case vinyl tape. is it the same with Bos and grip tape or does it not matter? and around $20 for just the rod & no lights?

  • @gemgen101 well i know about the tapes but this is my best suggestion for beginners tht dont want to spend alot of money (not trying to offend you bout the whole beginner thing) and yes you can use all those tapes but 4 years ago when i started bo i used a long oak broom handle wrapped in eltrical tape ( hey i got the tape and the broomstick for free) but now tht i have a job i recently bought a good bo at about 400 dollars from a martial arts catalog

  • @gemgen101 this cost about 20 bucks maybe

  • Donatello has one of these xD

  • a gym with boxing gym wrestling mats and a bo staff.....

  • I want that staff. So pretty!

  • I want that staff. So pretty!

  • His instruction leaves a lot to be desired; his slow demonstration does not match what he did at regular speed. At slow speed the bo staff reverses direction--big no no! When he does it at regular speed it does not reverse direction.

  • Star wars kid has become better..

  • I have to have that staff.

  • i love that staff

  • This looks more like fire staff stuff.

  • dude i want tht bo

  • Does the staff need to be light weight? because i can never do it smoothly, i think it because the staff is heavy.

  • @PXssss It's better if it's heavy weight as it does more damage. Wouldn't hurt to start off light though.

  • @Dornatum But i can't spin smoothly because it too heavy, that the problem, i'm not monkey king.

  • @PXssss Start with a light one and then move to the heavier ones - same as Nunchakus.

  • DOUBLE RAINBOW !!

  • I cant concentrate!! I keep staring at the pretty colors!!

  • i have same bo only its not rainbow when u spin its just silver

  • so how does this actually connects to an opponent? All I'm seeing is some spinning, no "attacking"

  • @AZN7 i guess u can use this trick when there are girls around. I have 2 girlfriends now!!

  • @AZN7

my tought exactly! How is this a "powerfull attack move"?

its na nice "showing off move" tough.

  • thats a nice move, once i do it , i cant stop because i dunno how to add in or continue with other forms could u or anyone please make a video on how they combine this move with others ?D:

  • im 12 and i can do that :D

  • Where did you get that Bo. I can't find it anywhere?

  • ATTACK TECHIQUES MY ASS HOW ABOUT FREACKIN STABIN THE MUxxxx FUxxxxx?

  • everytime i do this it the bo bounces of my legs or back how do i stop it thanks

  • @coppcole move it out more to the left.

  • @jimyjamyninjas o right thanks:)

  • @PXssss I'd say if your going to learn weapons for street purposes, learn escrima sticks. On the street its likely that you'll be able to find a stick or something that resembles a stick and use it in that manner. Also learn knife and gun defense as well!

  • whats up with the trippy rainbow-bo? xp

  • @idiot1jerk2face3

lol, i was wondering same thing, prob so you can see it good, if I had to guess.

  • hÎ_ï_fèÊl_so_lônÊlý_tÕDàÿ

  • Just like to point out the way he spins it when he shows it slowly and when he does it quickly are two different spins, very confusing, you can clearly see it spin behind his back when he does it quickly which is the second method he shows, the first method is just a pass behind the back not a spin.

  • @kaiyokoon when you pause it, you can tell he doesn't spin it at all when it's behind his back

  • @kaiyokoon yeah i noticed that too. he does spin it

  • @kaiyokoon

the speed makest it look like its spinning behind his back, but its realy not.

  • hey im trying to start up a YouTube Bo Tricking team send me a message if you wanna join for details.

  • IDK, i don't make the rules. I guess they want you to master hand-to-hand combat before you learn to use weapons.

  • Where do i buy the staff?

  • @PXssss u can make ur own.. im practicing tang soo do and i do my forms with my own bo staff. u can use a broom handle and decorated it if u want to. i hope this is helpful for u

  • @emocional90 I look around out that you could get one at Lowe's Or Home Depot, I hope this help so you can stop using that broom stick, ( P.S- that what i use too, but i new if i wanted to get professional, I had to get a real weapon )

  • @PXssss lol.. thats the thing ppl wants to get real shit but in real life u won't be in the street with ur 5 feet bo staff if u get jump out in the street u want to get anything is around u. thats why i event practice with garbage bags, tshirts, broom sticks simple things that i can find almost everywhere so i can feel comfortable using them.. well thats the way my instructors teach me.

  • @emocional90 Yeah i understand, I study Taekwondo, and learning the way of the Bo Staff is just a side dish to look cool. When you get to black belt level in Taekwondo, they request you learn to use a weapon, so I tho to start learning the sooner the better. I am fully able to take on someone on the street with no skill, and the only move they know how to do is swing blindly . Hey, don't belive me? Am going to a Tournament on 5/14/2011, I will record it and upload it here :D

  • @PXssss why do u have to wait to ur black belt to learn a weapon? in tsd i started learning weapons in my purple belt right after my white belt

  • I go from a one handed spin to the behind the back spin

  • looks like a green screen behind him

  • Its a bo,people, or a staff,not a "bo staff.

  • Anyone know where I can buy a bo staff like his? That thing looks amazing!

  • @SaintGilgamesh I think I saw a staff just like this on E-bay actually :)

  • Should the bo staff be the same hieght as you are?

  • @GamestLink yeah

  • @GamestLink Typically yea, but there are several advantages to getting a bo smaller than you are, the ability to wield the things more fluidly being one of them, believe me, I'm six foot tall lol But among others there are agility and more surface area to play with. For instance, if you have a shorter staff, you can spin the staff from its center, and under your arm. With a larger staff, to produce that maneuver, you have to grab lower down the staff. Less weight is a plus too :D Hope this helps

  • @Samuel032593 I'm only five foot that why I ask. Yeah it helps a bit

  • Is it just me, or is this insanely hard on a heavy staff? My wrists can't torque it fast enough.

  • @VitaminJ

    it takes a while

  • @VitaminJ I know "exactly" what you mean :D I finally got a real staff for the first time about two weeks ago. This technique is easy to me, rediculously easy actually cuzz I've practiced it with other sticks and things for a long time. It's other techniques that get me, like the shoulder roll and neck roll. I'm starting to get better though, I'm learning to carry momentum from other swings into the rolls and it's helped alot :D The staff is made of white oak and is thick if that says something.

  • finally a version without needing to spin your bo staff through your fingers :)

  • dude u suck i can do so much better staff swinging

  • @bobbycoyote

    skrew you!

then post a video of u doing it then?

  • @bobbycoyote

    dude

it's a tutorial anyway. so he's meant to be slower

  • @Roserade336 Don't excuse him. Bobbycoyote is a douche bag.

  • @newtubetubetube good point

  • That's a sweet bo-staff man.

  • This guy is AWSOME

  • Who else can see the rainbow?

  • i was wondering..can you teach us how to fix a lamp?

  • Were you train by Chuck Norris? you gave the best instruction that everyone can understand!

  • Nice vid, quite helpful indeed!

  • I just broke my television.

  • @Mobius5by5 lol your funnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @Mobius5by5 Hahahahaha! The best thing about youtube is the wounderfull people and there comments! I loved your comment And I love you!

  • I like the way you demo in a clear and easy to understand techniques,

Do you have any DVDs out or are you just on Youtube..10 out of 10.

  • iv use ur vid to create my own technique, i do nehind the back to 1 handed spin and through in air and recatch in a spin, jusat my own lil creation :)

  • i cant figure out the first one lol,.. i get myself to grab the staff thumb to thumb, but there where you throw in that spin i get stuck.

  • @commby123

    You play pocket god.

    I too! Its fun!

  • I like ur bo

  • used this techniques and scard the shit out of some skaters

  • whats with the colors on the staff?

  • nice tut lol master eaton

  • Woah double rainbow all the way. D=>

  • hey could u make a new vid on this but show how to continue it rather than just stopping after the first roatation?

  • Comment removed

  • :) if you wouldn't mind, could you please send me a link to a website so i could buy a rainbow bo staff like that? thanks alot (: if you could inbox it me that'd be grreeaat...

  • awsome

  • badass, what is this guy's name and does he give lessons?

  • aduhhhr!!

  • Good techniques tho I must say either the green screen is just bad or the camera resolution is bad for the background. Either way I liked the teachings

  • this is an excellent video

He speaks very well and he is an excellent teacher

  • im watching more of these vids, great teaching.

  • what is his bo made of ? and how long is it?

  • they all use transluscent or aluminum staffs it makes the movements look faster and flashy

  • I like this guy better than the others... but the translucent staff makes him kind of hard to track the movements of his hands

  • Nice baton twirling; don't know how these techniques would hold up against someone actually attacking you with a hardwood Bo full power....

  • Can you set the "horizontally way" in slow motion, it's hard to learn when it goes that fast.

It's good learning, keep it up.

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ok

  • Anyone got a link to these vids in order? would be most helpful

  • Where did you buy it?! Damn!

  • that bo staff lookins like a double ended spear O.O

  • i love ur bo staff!!

  • i love ur bo staff!!

  • I got the vertical one down, but my horizontal one looks nothing like his. :(

  • rainbow staff....fuckin awesome :D

  • yea very nice

  • when he does the thumb to thumb in full speed he has like 10 more rotations than he showed in slow motion. can you make another video or something to show what you're really doing?

  • He does the exact same thing, but speeded up, u see double spins, because of the two ends, and the trick is to speed it up to make it look awsome :)

  • Excuse me, but what size is that Bo Staff?

  • No, silly faggot! You should know by now that dicks are for chicks! Besides I wanted the size of the Bo Staff not of a pinky.

  • dont you always stick that pinky of yours up your ass when you masturbate dragon tales?

  • x2tr3m3 usually about 6 ft in length (traditional bo staff at least)

  • Thank you, mrfred55635!! I appreciate the answer! :-)

  • His spins way more than it should if he does it the way he explained

  • Lol I arch forward because it's funny to unprofessional.

  • excuse me I have a question. what discipline is this martial art?

  • bojutsu i think

  • its a practice bo staff

  • i believe its the light hitting the metal

  • Comment removed

  • hey bo, nice bo staff, haha

  • what kind of bo staff is that

  • Nice video! Helpful advice to me who leans forward to avoid the end of his own staff.

Nice bô, too. ..I guess ^^

And am I alone in my amusement at your saying "face palm" at 0:46?

  • 5'4 kyme? :S i thaught i was short lol at 5'10! but yh ud want a 50 inch still its not the size that maters as u always handle it to the centre or 3/4 up on the bo so ud be fine

  • I'm about 5' 4", so would you recommend a taller bo staff (6') or one a bit shorter (the 5')????

  • i have a steel chrome plated collapsible baton 2.123ft long. Is i good for this kind of moves?

  • 2ft??

  • what a gay bo

  • too bad he would kick ur ass in a fight =p

  • if u drop it just punch the prick and dont stop swining haha

  • you might wanna elaborate on the-tucking-behind-the-back part, wich is what's actually diffiult about this move..

  • This stuff is just for sow, especially with that bo staff.

  • Not for show really...Its useful for intimidation...I almost got in a fight but i used a long stick and spun it around and they got scared and ran away...hahahahha it was funny...

  • @JustinTheAzn LMAO!

  • @JustinTheAzn LOL nice dude

  • @JustinTheAzn did try it but they fled just from the "fighting stances" .... woosies XD

  • @JustinTheAzn did try it but they fled just from the "fighting stance" .... woosies XD

  • @JustinTheAzn Please stop scaring the neighbor kids. It is not very nice.

  • @JustinTheAzn I think i have a better respond, I mean monk use it in fight as their main weapon, so of course it not for intimidation only.

  • I agree doing that leaves you vulnerable, and theres always a chance you can drop it doing that kind of stuff in a battle

  • Thats okay... he tells you in his punch video that this is sports bo and not traditional combat bo techniques.

And he's good with shapes and lines... which literally somehow translate to forms... so he's good with forms and stuff... interesting to learn, excercise, have fun, express...

However, i do think the modern day sports bo goes sometimes a wee bit towards the feminine side, sort off.

    And the bo... *no comment*

    Cheers :)

  • its like a spinning rainbow =D

  • What if the bo staff is taller than you? I'm not very tall so I found some techniques to be difficult.

  • your bo doesn't have to be 6 feet exactly, if you need to you can just make a 5 foot one or even do jo instead. jo is pretty much the same as bo except its 4 feet long, which will make some of the moves easier.

  • thanks man

  • Also, I couldn't help but notice your slow and fast motion demonstrations of the vertical (first) technique are COMPLETELY different.

You change direction of rotation in the slow-motion twice, whereas he is rotating in the same direction in the fast-motion.

But what I don't see is how it's an attack move... unless they're on your knees in front of you, in which case you should just say "thanks" and move on, no?

    ;)

  • No theyre not, i use those moves all the times in my combos and both slow mo and regular s

  • 0:39 and 0:49 are different. They are supposed to be the same move.

  • In a similar situation OR a completely different situation.

    So... always?

  • Good : ] ill try those

    this bo is awesome.

  • I usually started out with the 2nd technique you did. The 1st one looks faster though.

  • this guy got real nice bo

  • so hot. Cant wait to learn these moves. can you put red tape on one end of your bow or some type of marker so we can track the spins a little easier?

    thanks for the vids

  • Good instruction. I cant do that, maybe because my Bo is wooden

  • is that for weight reasons of the feeling of the bo in your hands?

  • i think so

  • You just need time to build arm strength.
